See? You have just intimated that I'm racist and I'm still okay.
I can take it. I'm a big girl.

No, they're using the presidents skin color to attack his critics in to shutting up.

If that were true, it's not working very well, is it?

Last year "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." was the quote. This year it is "Dissent and you are a Nazi, KKK member and a racist.".

Who's doing the discriminating here?

I seriously think that you are exaggerating the threat to Obama. He's doing more to damage race relations in the US than anybody or any group in history. We have the first Afirmative Action President. Somebody who got the job because of his color, not his qualifications. Nobody wants to kill him. Just let him flame out and crash. I just hope that we can repair the damage to the country after the crash.

Wear an SS uniform yet claim to be a righteous man, chances are you're a Nazi. Yeah, it's the uniform, not the speech. It's that obvious.

Well, I suppose it's what sort of relations you're talking about. Personally, I think he's doing a swell job and the louder "they" are the more justified my vote was. I did it all for you.

The damage was the idea from the start. I'll be heading up the FEMA camp batallion myself.

Just so you know, many of us DON'T support calling the dissenters racist. It's a cheap shot and deflection, in most cases. And since there's no way to know the minds of the dissenters, we can't really say what their reasons are. I suspect much of the dissent is simply because he's "the other party" or that they genuinely disagree with his policies. But I do think his race was used to plant the SEED of doubt and suspicion and I think there are plenty of people who respond to that doubt. And it only takes one...

I'm just explaining why it's important to the media and the authorities to keep a close eye on those who would incite feelings of racial hatred in this country. Having a black president is something new and NOT the status quo. Everyone's on edge.

I seriously think that you are exaggerating the threat to Obama.

I hope you're right.

He's doing more to damage race relations in the US than anybody or any group in history.

I don't have a clue what you think he's doing to damage race relations.

Somebody who got the job because of his color, not his qualifications.

That's the biggest load of crap of all. More cheap shot and deflection! To say that he was elected because of his race is every bit as ignorant and cheap as saying that his dissenters are racist. It's EXACTLY the same thing. Shame on you for doing the same thing you SAY you're against.

Nobody wants to kill him.

I suggest you do some research...

By the way, I have NO idea why anyone would think that this Joker portrayal is racist... I don't get that at all. Even if they're talking about the "white face", it's a HUGE stretch and makes no sense at all to me. Deflection.

The joker wasn't black, was he? I'm just trying to figure out why people think this has to do with race...

Common sense? They RIGHTLY didn't go after people who mocked Bush
in almost the exact same way. They didn't go after the
artist who joker'd up Bush and they shouldn't go after the artist who
jokers up Obama.

The chances of assassination of this president are right up there ..

There are chances of assassination for ANY POTUS.
This person is expressing their free speech rights through art.
Not bloody, bullet ridden, psychologically frightening art. But just art.
To try to equate that person with an assassin ... that's a big stretch.

If the authorities want to check out the morons bringing guns to political rallies ... THAT is common sense. But to abuse and hastle artists for expressing themselves politically in art ... that's shades of 1939 Germany

Like the whites used to wear blackface and go dancing, the blacks are wearing whiteface and having teaparties, being rich and being president.

He's a 20-year-old college history major of Palestinian descent who supported Rep. Dennis Kucinich's presidential candidacy, and he is the anonymous artist who turned a Time magazine cover photo of Barack Obama into the nefarious Joker of the Batman series.

Firas Alkhateeb was home in Chicago on his winter break from the University of Illinois when he toyed around with Photoshop to come up with the image. He posted it to the picture site Flickr for friends to see his artwork, the paper reported.

Months later, the doctored picture appeared on posters around the country with the word "Socialism" added to it. Alkhateeb, who dabbles in graphic arts, told the newspaper he worried about copyright infringement and so kept a low profile. He also feared a backlash for appearing to be against the president in his hometown of Chicago.

Alkhateeb said he doesn't support Obama, though he likes him better than President Bush. And he doesn't think he's a socialist.

No I'm not doing the samething that I say I'm against. Go back through the coverage of the Presidential election. It was polluted with people stating that it was time for a Black President. Look at the MSM. Katie Couric was wetting her panties over her chance to be able to interview the first Black President. I had telephone pollsters call me racist because I said that I didn't support Obama. I have had people tell me that I was going to get what was coming to me as soon as Obama was in the White House. As far as his qualifications went, what qualifications? He served a partial term as a Senator and even then he wasn't even doing that job, because he was too busy campaigning. I said in a post on another thread that people need to rent the movie "Wag the Dog". What we have is the political equivilent of the Backstreet Boys. Take a charismatic no name Senator and turn loose a top Hollywood production team with a blank check. That's what we have in the White House.

Y'all do realize that TPTB wanted Obama in the White House because they knew they would have the MSM label anyone against the president (who most sheep believe runs our country) as a racist.

Quickest way for them to start breaking down our freedom of speech.

WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!!!! I'm not a huge fan of the President either but calling him the "Affirmative Action President" is utter bs. This guy is far smarter and far better credentialed than G.W. All G.W. had going for him was being born into the "right" family. He failed at every business venture he ever enter into.
If you don't like Obama and/or think he's ruining the country - fair enough. But, let's be fair here.
You don't become the editor of the Harvard Law Review through affirmative action Even if affirmative action helped you get into Harvard.
After that, he's been voted in to the Chicago legislation, the Senate and the President by the citizens of the Chicago and the the citizens of the US. As far as I know, that's all you need to hold any of those offices.
If the system seems broken and most of our politicians corrupt, or just plain useless, that's just what we've got. I'm tired of all of this left-right stuff. Bush stunk. Obama stinks. We suffer. The end.
Unless you've got some cash to lobby them, you're basically meaningless in the big picture.

Really? I never looked at it as that. Why not just paint him with a white face then? I figured it was somebody who watched "The Dark Knight" and figured Obama was like the Joker as "some people just want to see the world burn." Figured it was somebody who thought he was destroying everything.
Obviously, if this article is correct, we're all wrong. It was just some dude playing around with photo shop.
However, I'm not saying that he is a racist at all.... but, in my mind, an arab can be racist against whites or blacks or asians; blacks against whites, middle easterners, asians - etc, etc.
I never saw the joker face as racist but, if you think it was racist, why couldn't a palestinian be racist against blacks?

Bush was govenor of Texas. That's executive experience.
As gov. of Texas he had to deal with Mexico.
That's executive experience on an international level.

Obama was a just junior senator.

Bush holds the Bachelor of Arts from Yale and the Master of Business Administration from Harvard.

Obama has a B.A. political science from Columbia University and from Harvard he has a Juris Doctor (J.D.)

As for 'affirmative action'... perhaps the person was thinking of Michelle Obama who went to college on the tax payers dime and who wrote her racist college thesis at an 8th grade education level.

more on that here

This says it all.

I hate playing the race card. It's a stupid, meaningless way to try and put your opponent down, and usually people only resort to playing it when they don't have a good argument.

So why play it?

Why play it, especially when you yourself have come out against people playing the race card? It doesn't make any sense at all.

First, you complain that people are using the term 'racist' to put down Obama's opponents (which I agree is an utterly pointless affair). However, you then go on to play the race card yourself, not only implicating yourself as a possible racist, but also an enormous hypocrite.

You can't have it both ways. Either you don't comment about Obama's race and become rightfully offended when someone refers to the opposition as racist, or you do make comments about the president's race and then you don't really have a voice to comment on when others say the opposition is racist, as you yourself are making racial remarks.

QED.

And by the way, the 'Obama Joker' poster is entirely not racist. It's a comparison between him and the Joker, the famous batman villain who is deceptive and coercive. That is what the reference is. People who see the Joker makeup as some sort of metaphor for him wearing 'whiteface' are completely reaching in order to support their argument. It's downright foolish.

All of the credentials you listed for Bush are correct. However, in my mind, Bush only became a Governor because of his family. That's an opinion. I am aware of that. So are most of the anti-Obama remarks on this thread, though.
As for Michelle Obama. She might be a racist. I was not talking about her.

I couldn't agree more.
