It's amazing how politically charged some people are that they could so miss and misunderstand Skeptic Overlords real message behind the post and the thread.

The truth is that a lot of people caught in the left/right paradigm just look for a platform to promote their messages, agendas and views and not to actually read, understand or learn.

We live in a crazy world!

The lobbyists and media shills couldn't hardly do a better job could they?

Gridlock can be a good thing.
Politicians usually just make things worse.

The thread was actually about a trip Skeptic Overlord took to Washington D.C. when he and several other website owners were invited by a group of legislators to get their input on some pending legislation.

When he was there several lobbyists confided in him that the Republican Party was so intent on destoying Obama and his administration that they were willing to literally sacrifice anything and everything that might be good for the nation in the process of personally destroying Obama even to the extent that it might destroy the nation as well.

That it wasn't just the normal one party trying to obstruct and score points off of the other party's failures and misfortunes but an all out war were the good of the nation and the people and their responsibility and jobs as lawmakers are ignored and sacrificed simply to fulfill a personal vendetta.

Hence the title, Damn the Country Obama must fail, meaning that the if necessary the Republicans involved would rather see the country destroyed as a real alternative to seeing Obama succeed.

There are a lot of really great contributions to the thread throughout the thread and it's worth taking the time to read because there is something for everyone to learn in the thread no matter what you already know or what your agenda is.

Feeling strongly about things and issues is great, being so focused on those things and promoting them that your mind is either closed or you entirely miss or ignore the purpose and point of a thread in your rush and zeal to promote that agenda and or issue...well, that's not so great.

We do not need or want the Canadian Health Care system down
here in the USA.
BTW, i am willing "sacrifice" Cap & Trade the job killer also.

to grow the government by taking over the health care system.

OP, your story reminds me of my work in a statehouse in about 1990. I could have written almost precisely the words you did.

Bottom line: humans are stupid, greedy, and crooked, and their representatives in government actually do represent them quite well.

Nothing is going to change. This is just the way it is.

We out number these people 1 million to 1 yet we cannot get an effective consensus on what we must all do. I'll give you a hint. You cannot fight these people with brain power and legal loops, committee hearings etc...they eat that stuff up and are masters at it and can lock you into its spell.

Nothing short of a storm of brute force will fix it but it will never happen. Why?
We all have our individual prices we do not wish to pay and we suffer very much from the same ailment as these powers do just at a smaller level. (lobbyists, politicians, special interests, trillionaires we dont even think exist) etc.

I'm right and you're wrong and heres my opinion, my talking points, dah dah dah blah blah. We play the very same intellectual game for we have been taught by the masters. Pontificate, pontificate, let me show you how intelligent and precise my rationale is we say. So we continue to play a game of intellecual weenie swinging.

It's time to pull the shield and broadsword down off the mantle and let us get down to business. Believe it or not..youd be surprised just how fed up their centurions are (law enforcement, military, intel). and they will get even madder It's just a matter of time.

The thread is about lobbyists in Washington.

The lobbyists are some of the smartest people in America.
They know the truth about Obama.

All I see is someone stuck in the left/right divide who hasn't read the thread who is simply on ATS to discuss left/right divide and conquer politics.

You aren't familiar with any of the conspiracies discussed in the thread so why bother guessing at things that aren't relevant to the thread or the discussion.

The thread is about Lobbyists and their influence on government. It's not about democratic lobbyists or republican lobbyists.

Its about CORPORATE lobbying in government, and what the lobbyists are saying about the current state of the left/right divide in Washington.

If you want to have a serious discussion read the thread.

That's incorrect.

Given the nature of our day of meetings (the needs of small and medium-sized business), the lobbyists-as-chaperones were all cut from conservative cloth. And those with whom I spoke were certainly conservative.

Actually, it reflects the strategy of the Reagan Administration's stance toward terrorism and captured terrorists, treat them as criminals and try them in civil court in the proper jurisdictions. A brief walk into the history books will reveal that terrorism in Reagan admin era was much more of a problem that it is now -- even when reviewing the generally inaccurate and one-sided history books available now.
