I have to tell what happened Thursday night @ 2:30am. I woke abruptly and felt agitated like I was being bothered. To be honest, the thought of aliens actually crossed my mind, but I attributed it to a dream I couldn't remember. I went out on our back patio to smoke. Immediately, I felt uncomfortable, like I was being watched. All I can say is that it felt weird outside. Again, I just thought it must be from the dream (I couldn't remember having). I stood looking southwest and, I saw a huge bright flash of light way off in the distance. I said out loud to myself " aw... come on!! " Remaining skeptical, I thought it must have been a meteor. Even though their was no streak of light before the flash like with all other meteors I witnessed, in fact, just last week I was on the patio and a meteor went right above my head and burnt out about 100 yds in front of me. Way cool sight!!! I went looking for any trace, but unfortunately didn't find anything so far. I had completely dismissed it all until I saw this post. I'm having a hard time accepting the coincidence here. I have to find out if this was a hoax, for my own sanity.
BTW,I live in the DFW area, just south of I-20

I don't want to disapoint you guys but I have seen that before... Almost every night during some weeks.

Where I live there is a factory that makes wind generators.

Since those things are massive, they have to transport them in parts, and even those parts are too big for normal trucks, so they have escorts.

Here in Portugal they have police going in front and back of the convoy and they close, or at least control, the highway entrances.

I pass by them sometimes when I come back late from work. If I spot them again I'll take some photos so you can compare the two.

One thing that you guys from that area can do is research for some factory of wind generators, or if they are installing any near that area.

Those things are massive like I said, and that thing could be some part of the generator.

It seems the locals report hearing a loud "boom" or some noises. Some people were not even aware of the "ufo" incident that occured, but were worried about loud booms they heard. Read below for witnesses reporting booms and flashing lights in the same area prior to the alleged pictures.

If you read the link, locals heard a bang and were wondering what was going on. Hardly anyone in that topic knew of "alleged" UFO, but some started speaking of it and providing links. Also there were reports in that link of men in Black SUVS making News camera crew shut off and leave the area.

According to your own source:

There were firworks at the race track, the BHRA nationals were held there. I called the racetrack and had this confirmed.

I want to believe. The media will black anything out that is deemed to much for our small minds to embrace.

So you ignored all the others that said it wasn't fireworks, and the guy saying he saw the fireworks, and this was later?

Ok...

I think people know what fireworks sound like, personally.

It was most likely wind turbine associated material which is often shipped via I-20 to West Texas. I live in the area and I have seen that often. There are always escorts with flashing yellow lights.

But do they usually shut down highways, draw attention of newstations, and have men in black SUVS escorting and shutting down news cameras? (of course this is all stated by witnesses which doesn't always make it true, but why would people make those particular angles up?)

Escuse me, but you're the one ignoring reports.

I have read all of the comments, and the fireworks were launched at the correct time of events. Accustic plays a big role here, and it's perfectly plausible that the sounds were a bit strange but you can't exclude fireworks just because you want to believe it deeply that it wasn't fireworks.

Some people claim that they didn't sound like fireworks, but you also have official confirmation that there were fireworks and the transportation was made afterwards, what makes some people confuse, but doesn't mean anything strong.

This whole deal still has some points that don't ad up, like the black SUV's and the claims that news reporters were sent away. But that can be easly explained when they came to the conclusion that it was fireworks and that the transportation was something perfectly normal.

We are just assuming things here, at least untill an official report comes out. Thing that I doubt because this whole deal to me looks pretty ordinary...

And yes, they escort big loads. Actually, like I stated before, I have seen that happen quiet a lot where I live. It's protocol. They stop cars and hold them untill it's safe to everyone.

Imagine someone was travelling fast down the highway and there was no warning sign that there was a huge cargo truck on the way? Or that you are entering the highway without knowing that there is a slow moving truck up ahead? It's safety protocol and perfectly normal.

They provably sent the news reporters away because they would jam up the highway...

No. Don't mean to offend but there are plenty of people in that thread saying it was not fireworks, claiming fireworks can't explain it because of the distances involved, and apparently a lot of calls to the police about it, one guy claiming 'grenades', and another a 'sonic boom'. I think it odd that people can't tell fireworks when they hear them, they're usually pretty obvious, no? Some people may have heard fireworks, others claim to have heard something else.

So, I'm just saying what I read.

I also think the 9pm time is way off, the first reports to the radio station appear to have been in the early hours of the morning.

I live very near the area, and I heard no loud noises. I can hear when they have fireworks, and they sound just like fireworks... every time. People don't call into the radio stations to report fireworks either, at least not to my knowledge.
I saw something very unusual very early Friday morning that I will be reporting today, I think it could possibly be related.
Until someone finds proof of what exactly was on that flat bed, I remain open minded because of my experience Friday morning.

If it walks like a duck, if it sounds like a duck.......

The problem is you have official confirmation that there were fireworks being used on that night. All the other witnesses don't ad up anything.

How is it possible that someone claims he heard a sonic-boom, and another one heard a grenade? Those sounds have nothing in common.

Other people claim they did in fact heard fireworks, while other simply state that they saw some flash's...

Fireworks actually sound like bombs... Because....They are bombs! Pretty bombs...But they are bombs.

And some people talked about rythm... What makes sense if you consider fireworks... I mean, have you ever seen a crash with rythm? Only if it's a Snoop Dog crash...

Actually I was in Egypt in 2003 when there was a hotel bombing. Believe me I can tell how a bomb sounds like, and even how you feel when you are close to one.

And besides that, I have heard fireworks that sound like fireworks, and fireworks that sound like bombs... Because of distance, intensity, terrain accustic, all sorts of stuff.

The witnesses contradict themselfs, and I can't possible believe in their statements when one says "Oh, it was a sonic-boom" (notice that he heard just one, and others talk about rythm), which could be measured around 133 dB's for miles, and another guy says he heard a grenade which could be measured around 120 dB's within 10 foot radius.

Then, you have people claming continuous blasts with rythm, and flash's on the sky... You know what causes flash's in the sky?... Yup, fireworks.

And you know what has controled ignition with rythm launches? Yup.....Fireworks.

It doesn't had up, and looks to me like mass hysteria.

Maybe you're right. But the fact that people called the police, and made that thread in the first place, suggests this wasn't simply fireworks. Maybe some of those people saw/heard fireworks. But the fact is, those reports are there, and unless all those people are idiots, it shouldn't be ruled out. I know damn well I wouldn't mistake fireworks for anything else.
