There IS a very Greek sound (to my ear, at least) in the melody...but, yes...it is different.....I'm not that musical, so........count me as 'ignorant" ....well...even worse.....in that arena.
A little background on the story: Helme is the lover of a girl named Rosa, who was forced to marry José Santos. During her husband's travels, the two lovers meet at her house. One night Santos returns early from a trip, knocks on the door, kicks it down and brutally murders Helme and Rosa. The song is Rosa's lament just before the tragedy.
