Poking a potentially biological lifeform while it chills out there is a bad plan. You'll get digested. Painfully.

I doubt that this is even remotely alien related.

It is the creature(s) from the movie Phantoms with Ben Affleck. But it most likely is a form of algae. I'm not keen on this stuff but IS there cold water algae?

A migration of rotting seaweed and waste gas from said product would be my guess, and to be quite honest, I cant back this theory up with any credible evidence, so if you think I am wrong, odds on your right.

Also I think it is a symbiote from Spiderman comics. I mean really, some miraculous black goop in the middle of a state by the mile that is technically biological... Its gotta be something like it.
