Giant Mystery Blob Moves Through Alaskan Waters

www.foxnews.com

It's big, it's black, it's gooey and it may be alive.

Giant blobs of thick, oily biological material are floating in the Arctic Ocean's Chukchi Sea north of the Bering Strait, reports the Anchorage Daily News.

"It's certainly biological," Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Terry Hasenauer told the newspaper. "It's definitely not an oil product of any kind. It has no characteristics of an oil, or a hazardous substance, for that matter."

No one in the North Slope towns of Barrow and Wainwright can recall ever seeing anything like it.

Jellyfish and sea birds are getting caught up in the sticky, stinky stuff, which according to one official "has hairy strands on it."

"It's definitely, by the smell and the makeup of it, it's some sort of naturally occurring organic or otherwise marine organism," added Hasenauer.

What is this? I can't wrap my brain around this. They say it is alive and its big. Jellyfish and sea birds are gitting caught up in the sticky, stinky stuff. I wonder if this has drifted up from the deep ocean habitat?

Interesting. It's too bad there aren't any photos to back this up. This made me think immediately about another thread about blob type things living in sewers.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I wonder if it's similar at all?

Hmm, it looks like oil mixed with vegitation.

My guess it is some pollution come to haunt it's owners. That or something sparked back to life due to climatchange.
So far I wouldn't search to much behind it. Probably some ecological disaster coming to haunt it's creators.

Interesting.

Sounds a lot like "Creepshow 2" in "The Raft" episode. Well, in the physical description, at least. Haven't heard that it's targeting young, horned up teenagers yet

Hmm Petty officer Hasenaur. Hes a Petty officer First Class. One step away from making chief. It's weird, my guess is that hes a Public Affairs First Class.
Anyway I digress, Given his assumed Rating and given Rank, Id say that hes a semi credible source.

@EarthFairie- A little bit huh. They're saying that the blobs in the sewer was worms though. This... this blob I'm not sure what it is but if they aren't sure shouldn't they be getting a professional to check it out instead of using a bucket???

@Constantly Wondering- Nice find. IT gets you to wonder how much do we really know about our planet, and how much we think we know about the planet

Strange.
And there is also that video where they found blob like lifeforms in sewers.
Is this spontaneous evolution in action?

This sounds like the first half hour of a Godzilla movie before the villain monster is revealed.

First thing that came to mind for me was The Bloop. Probably not related, but if this thing makes a noise, I'm guessing it'll be heard from a distance.

12 miles long!?!?!

I hope it is not alive! That would be one giant worm! It could eat a Coast Guard Cutter. How would they fight it? Shoot it? Buckets seem pretty effective so far!

Posting my post from there below....

Explanation: Could the bio-goo possibly be the result of a pod of sperm whales all getting runs at the same time and producing a big sloppy Ambergris slick???

Personal Disclosure: I wonder what might give whales the runs???

I suspect it's rotting sea algae. Some of these blooms (often blue in color) can extend dozens of miles. Remember what happened in China just before the olympics? That came ashore and was several feet deep. Needed 10,000 people to shift it.

It does look like algae. Maybe a new type? Algae can grow thick and fast.
