Sorry wasn't being specific. I wasn't quoting/interpreting a verse/story of the bible. This was a different book. This was someone elses take on why there is evil in the world and why God doesn't intervene because he himself is malevolent.

Also I believe in God just not the one that says he's all-loving...just before he smites you.

There it is the atheist movement summed up in a few sentences.
Let me just shorten it for you a bit to make it clearer.
"We don't care about you and what you have to say, so leave."
There folks is the open minded atheist. Also notice he could not get through a sentence without using an expletive.

good show chum you prove the religious folks point..there is always a few of you around to make us look right.

That's fine. I was just merely wondering where you read the story or found the message was all and give my interpretation as well. Your open to believe whatever. I'm just stating why I think Satan was evil. That's it. I noticed the Rant and the End Rant thing lol so I had a pretty good idea.

O.K. not everyone that's claimed to be the messiah has been called crazy... Some religions believe in an avatar that is always incarnated on this earth... look up Meher Baba.

The majority of you do nothing but make me glad I don't bother with religon.
Let me sum you all up just like you have above....

" The bible is the Truth, Jesus was our saviour, people who dont believe in bible are going to hell, the rapture is coming, gays and all non christians are wrong and therefore evil, we dont care about your belief's your wrong and are going to hell "

Oh worthy christians please save your prayers for yourselves, I will take my chances. The blind leading the blind.

Oh another thing, is the Bible distributed around the entire Universe? I mean what about all the other intelligent beings living in other galaxies etc. Surely god would have sent them a messiah and a book as well? If not sure we could always invade their world and slaughter them till they take the bible as the truth. Worked here didn't it?

If you wanted points you got them: the best way to instigate controversey is to declare one spiritual pathway exclusively as the way to salvation/enlightenment. Congratulations on your point booty.

Okay, a religous nutcase is a religous nutcase. Saying that the Bible has predicted 100% accurate is non-sense. i can give you the winning lottery numbers, eventually they will come true. It might take a while. Chritian nutcases like this guy, remind me of the Jihadist that kill babies for Allah. Give me a break. i believe in God, in my way, you believe in God in your way. i'm getting sick and tired of people playing the game "My God is better than your God, blahhhh". People kill, in the name of God/Allah etc. That like "[snip] for virginity".

I see you are still here OP.

You have certainly created a stir here in ATS land.

This thread takes me back to a time when I had a major friend on this site that was a very out spoken atheist. She was dear to me and I do miss her wit and friendship.

I am a Christian , she is an atheist. We are both still humans and capable of being friends and co-conspirators or whatever else we choose to delve into.

We tolerated each others right to believe differently. I continue to pray for her and I'm sure she continues to hope I will come to her understanding of the way things are.

On Christ the solid rock I stand.

OP I stand beside you in your belief of our sweet Jesus. It is clear that it is time to stand and be counted and not become faint of heart.

Star and flag for you OP.

What I found funny about religons is that every religous man is so loving and kind. He/she don't want to harm anyone, they love all living things, they are blessed with divinity, they are soothing and calm....until their belief are put to test and questioned.

Then they become the total opposite.
If you question them or don't agree with their faith, then we will roast in hell, and we have the devil inside of us. The funny aspect of it, they won't take the responisbility for it, cause it is not them who hates, it is not them who sends us, who don't believe, to hell etc...it is their god. Who exist cause a book says so.
I've yet to understand why this book would hold more truth than any other book...
It's a winning concept ofc. The Book ( Bible ) says that the book itself is the truth. So no matter who you turn the table you will always get the same answer. "Cause it is written in the bible".
And on the question "How do you know that the bible is the truth?"
the answer would be "Cause it is written in the bible..."

What I have noticed also is that the christian religion is extremly protective of itself. Apparently it is a sin to ask those types of questions, regarding the religion, where the believer gets into a position where he can't give a straight answer and that actually could make the believing guy start to doubt.
Just look at the interview Bill Maher was doin with the "jesus" actor in "The holy land".
Religulous
The "Holy land" PR-Woman stopped it for a few minutes and she didn't really like Bill to do the interview because he is known of questioning religons.

This is mainly why I try to stay away from any religon, cause to me it is a false shroud and seems very deceitful.

Again, I want to stress that this is MY BELIEFS and MY WORDS.
What all of you believe is totally up to you.

This is not what Jesus taught at all. Jesus taught that He was God and Man and by His sinlessness as He was the only one who could be sinless, He would pay the price God demands for our sin. By accepting that throughbprofessin our belief in the Gospel and by confessing our sins to Jesus for no one comes to God the father except through Jesus Christ, we are saved.

i just thought i'd share what William Bramley says about this sort of thing in his book The Gods of Eden, in regards to Martin Luther...

...Luther convinced people that salvation is dependent entirely upon the grace of a monotheistic God. There was only one action an individual could take to obtain God’s grace, said Luther, and that was to believe in Jesus as Saviour and to accept Christ’s agony and crucifixion as penance for one’s own sins.

Luther’s curious notion that Jesus’s crucifixion can be the penance for other people’s sin is partially based upon the concept of “karma.” “Karma” is the idea that all acts in this universe eventually “come back” at a person in the future. People frequently invoke the idea of karma when they ask, ”What did I do to deserve this?” In modern science, “karma” has been expressed as: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” In monotheism, “karma” usually comes in the form of God’s inevitable punishments for sin and rewards for good.

On a personal level, the principle of karma seems to hold true in the sense that the world one creates, good or bad, through action or inaction, is ultimately the world that comes back to one. Poor ethics seem to boomerang in the form of spiritual degradation. A major benefit of a properly-done confessional is that it actually seems to break the negative “boomerang” effect and it will thereby help start a person back on the road to spiritual recovery.

Because Luther’s confessionals were unsatisfactory, he felt compelled to invent another way to escape the “karma” cycle enforced by the rewards and punishments of his monotheistic God. Luther therefore developed the idea that God would allow Jesus’s pain and suffering on the cross to become the “boomerang” for everybody. In other words, by “believing in” Jesus, you will not spiritually suffer for the bad things you have done in the past because Jesus has already suffered for you. This is a wonderfully magical notion, but it is hardly a philosophy of responsibility, nor is it fair to Jesus that he should be expected to take the brunt for everyone else’s wrongs.

More importantly, Luther’s solution simply does not work. Many people do feel and act better after “proclaiming Christ” because they have acknowledged their spiritual existences in a way they had not done before and they often begin more ethical behavior as a result, but their act of belief has not caused them to overcome the many other barriers which stand in the way of complete spiritual recovery.

The Gods of Eden, Chapter 19 - "Luther and the Rose"

i'd like to know what you think about this, and i'm also curious to hear what you think about this article as well, which is completely unrelated to William Bramley's work:
"The Crucifixion was a Fraud"

That's not true.

Question ... what ever happened to His promise that 'before this generation ends I'll be back' (paraphrased) I'm a Christian and I still wonder why (how) He got that one wrong.

(I admit I didn't read all 18 pages of the probable back and forth. I've got too much to do.)

Sorry if I seem to be religion bashing I just think you can find humor in everything. Growing up in a 100% Christian family I have no idea how I became as I am. (So many prayers unanswered I guess). Anyways enjoy

Nope its all just one fictional story(the bible), kinda like a docudrama movie. A little truth spun around alot of exageration. It truly amazes me how people take it so serious but I guess that comes with lack of knoweledge of the sciences and the universe at the time. Imagine Tolken had written the hobbit a thousand years ago lol, how would that of shaped the world.

P.S. born and raised Christian and I belive in God. However I have opened my eyes and realized how corrupt and contolling religion is. Now I want no part of it, I say my little prayer for my family at night and thats good enough for me.

One of the greatest mysteries is that the Bible accurately predicts the coming of Christ and that in all the history of the world Jesus is the only one to have claimed He is the Messiah. The only logical conclusion is Jesus is the Christ. The NWO is probably real and is the instrument of Satan and we ate indeed nearing the end times.

Why would Jesus want to come back? Hasn't he suffered enough?

What makes you think Jesus did not already come back and we labled that person as a whack-o- nut job and sent him to prison.

It's amazing how many people buy this story, it's almost like believing in "Santa Claus" and he's gonna find out who's naughty and nice.

Ever hear of the story of Dyonises? How about the story or Mythra? Two guy that existed before Jesus with the same story line?

Ever read the Egyptian "book of the dead"? You can find that the 10 commandments was plagiarized from it with actually a lot more commandments.

People are waiting for a false hope, when you are the hope you've been waiting for.

All religion has brought you is wars and a false sense of being right.

But I am sure everything I just wrote you'll blame on the devil.

You have an excuse for everything. What's going to make you believe that Jesus has come back? Will it take government officials to convince you after close inspection?

Can you just imagine how many people were waiting for him to come back after he died? What makes you think you're so special that he'll come back in your lifetime?

Wake up and start taking responsibility for yourselves, you're wasting your time on Sundays. The only thing keeping you alive is the Earth and most so called conservatives like to "drill baby drill".

Why don't you prey to the great "Jug of Milk" and I'll bet your prayers will be answered just as quick as they are now.

Wake up sleepy heads, you've been told the greatest lie since you were a kid. Most minds don't understand the concept of "abstract" words that have no meaning that you let control your life.

Great videos!

I am not an Atheist, however I find fundamentalist Christianity a form of brain damage.

In fact, I find zealots of any religion to be seriously disturbed.
They should all be on medication…really, they should.
