I rarely reply to a thread that deals with experiences that are extreme, or weird; but in this case I have no choice.
I have been seeing the number 11 cropping up in various forms for over a year now. That might sound, to a skeptic such as myself, as a pointless and
irrelevant statement. However, it has come to the stage that the frequency of these observations has become laughable; in that it happens so damn much
that it has started to make me chuckle out loud; with what, I do not know. Hysteria? Maybe. Frustration. Possibly.
A few examples:
I’ll get up for a toilet break in the middle of the night; the time always varies, but more often than is comfortable, I have done this at eleven
past the hour.
I’m reading ATS, and glance at the clock on my laptop; and – yes, you guessed it – 11 minutes.
Driving to the shops in the morning, I look to my dashboard; 11 minutes past the hour, but not only that, my trip counter reads 114.1, and the
mileage involves more 1’s than is comfortable.
Timing food in the oven and using the microwave’s countdown facility; a quick look shows that there are random minutes, and 11 seconds to go.
Now, I fully accept that it is possible to programme one’s routine to such an extent that that routine rarely varies, and therefore it is entirely
possible that certain actions become so habitually encoded into our daily lives that it is inevitable that one sees the same times every day.
But that doesn’t explain the random occurrences, does it? And to be honest, they are as prevalent as the ones that should be expected from an
ingrained schedule. I don’t see 22 on a normal basis, or 44 or even 55.
So why this constant 11?
