Seriously???

I mean, are you serious?

Answer = NO!!!

well for a start, if the moon gets blown up OR the moon gets blown away from out orbit the tides will be screwed up. Ever seen Bruce Almighty? Well anyways, read this : www.nineplanets.org... . I worry about this more than anything NASA is trying to cover up any day.

Clever. But you do know, I presume, that the moon controls the tides in our oceans. You do know, I presume, that 80% of the world's oxygen comes from the oceans.

Try to think what might happen with a dead ocean. Strain really hard.
Any bells ringing? I'm just joking with you. But the implications of something happening to our moon are pretty...forboding.

And it's cruel to wolves. They wouldn't have anything to howl at.

The timing is no accident. Kinetic weapons are the weapons of the future. Rumsfelds long term plans are space drones in orbit that can land, refuel, reload, and fly for months in orbit waiting to be assigned a target.

From a 2007 National Defense Magazine article

Just like the Air Force, the Army and the CIA, the Navy soon could be deploying its own armed drones.

To that end, the Navy will request funds in fiscal year 2010 to begin outfitting its new surveillance drone with kinetic weapons.

When is this going to take place? And will it really be visible to the naked eye

How can you actually think WE puny Humans have the ability to "blow up" the Moon?!?

I said it earlier, it bears repeating -- I blame "Star Wars" for polluting the minds of our youth with anti-science!!

Of course. We have the ability to blow up the earth, so why wouldn't have the ability to blow up the moon?

You obviously do not grasp what the concept of being hypothetical is. And you obviously seem to be more worried about NASA covering up something than being worried that everyone on earth MAY be affected by the gravitational shift between the earth and moon?

lots of countries have mining rights on the moon

www.specintel.com...

and its been known for a while that we were going to be mining for Helium 3 on the moon.

I think its just the most criminal act ... we do not have any rights over any other planetary body just because it resides in our galaxy. but who asks the people for permission? if its in the name of science, well, anything goes i guess.

Wow! Thanks so much for the link.

Guys, this link says a mouthful. Just read between the lines.

:bnghd:

NOTHING is going to happen!!

Sheesh...a meteor that hits the Moon has more destructive energy than a man-made pile of metal. AND the Moon has survived meteor impacts for billions of years.

AGAIN: The impact is not using any explosives, of any kind. Merely the kinetic energy involved.

And, no...NASA isn't 'covering this up'...else we wouldn't be discussing it!

the article says that the cloud of dust will be visible from earth. Does anyone know how long this cloud of dust will be up there for? cause i really wanna see it. And if anyone has any videos of the moon, please post a link or something.

lol! Weedwhacker, I agree with you. Nothing is going to happen.
We are just thinking...you know. That's what we do.

Oh, do look at Susan't link though. Why is everybody already getting mineral rights to Mars? Don't you find that a little premature, if what we know is all they know?

And what super fantastic ultra secret special weapon do you think might blow up the Earth?

Nuclear weapons have the power to end life as we know it. We can turn large sections into smoking craters with nuclear weapons but given a few hundred thousand years The Earth will have all but forgotten about what happed. The Earth would heal itself and clean itself. Life would flourish again. New species would rise up and repopulate the Earth.

Earth first,
We can mine the other planets later

Why not mine the moon the tree huggers are trying to stop mining on earth.

I TOTALLY agree.

You know, I'm surprised that we don't see psychiatrists trolling around ATS looking for patients. Some people have some REALLY crazy ideas. I can see it now...

Hello, I'm Dr. Borkian and I've noticed you're somewhat delusional and a little paranoid. Lucky for you I happened to read this thread. I've got a pill that will make it all better.

Glad to see a little sanity once in a while. Keep up the good work.

By the way, I'm not trying to pick on you Fordrew. You just happened to have been the most recent person Weedwhacker replied to. I've noticed Weedwhacker's lucid comments in other threads and just decided to say something about what I thought.

Yes nothing will happen, but isn't it just so typical that humans end up doing this stuff, I mean bombing on the moon

What next I wonder, hmmm.

tonight NBC said NASA would be drilling for signs of water .... either way i find this story very amusing considering Obama denied California financial assistance but yet NASA seems to be working around the clock shooting shuttles into space with approved billions by Obama .... hmm lets see... lots of space work...various countries snapping pictures and\or video of the moon...disclosure on the horizon...maybe all roads DO lead to rome

I have not read the full thread, but people keep asking WHEN and WHERE etc.

Where? The south pole

When? October 2008

Google is your friend Nasa Bomb Moon will come up with several articles

NASA mission: Bomb the moon

The impact will stir up lunar dust needed to search for signs of ice

NASA plans to bomb the moon's south pole with an unmanned spacecraft launched in October 2008, tossing up a cloud of lunar debris that will be visible to Earth-based observatories, the space agency announced Monday. A satellite will fly through the 30-to-40-mile-high dust plume to search for evidence of water ice left by comets that slammed into the moon billions of years ago.

Seems they want to verify that the moon has water, as it looks like plans are in the works for an outpost on the moon. WOW NEAT

NASA's goal of reaching the moon by 2018 and establishing a human outpost several years later will be guided by efforts to verify the presence of ice

Harm None
Peace

My Thought are that they are going to Bomb the Dokos that are on the Moon.

"Fifty years were spent establishing the lunar bases and it wasnt until they were ready that emigration to Mu began. All went well. The small Chinese colony that had existed in the north-west of Mu had been totally destroyed some decades after their first visit, so in effect, they had the entire continent to themselves.

Work began immediately on the construction of towns, canals and roads, which they paved with immense flagstones. Their usual means of transport was a flying chariot, not unlike our Lativoks.

From their planet, they imported animals such as the dog and the armadillo - which they were very partial to on Aremo X3, and also the pig. " Thoa from the Book Thiaoouba Prophecy

If a tree falls in the woods and there's no one around to hear it, does it make a sound

If scientists sent a large scientific instrument to impact the moon..........
