Awesome, that gives you some time to build a case for : ww2 was a religious war for the Germans. better start working on it.

In a debate when one claims something they must provide evidence to back it up, it is not the other party's responsibility to provide such proofs .

Thats where you are mistaken.

I'm not debating you. If I was debating you then I would take 5 minutes to grab a few sources and post them. With the invention of the internet I would hope it wouldn't take the 24 hours I had given you to build my case.

What I am doing is challenging you to educate yourself. You going to accept the challenge or waste the time?

You're right, I don't like religious people but I especially don't like the muslims who are in my opinion the most violent/irrational of all.

I'm not anti christian or any religion for that matter, but christians have waged more wars over religion than any other.

I think history would show that your post is ignorant and irrational.

Muhammad had converted to Islam at some point in his life and interviews with police show he "probably had political and religious motives for the attack," the police chief said.

This was politically motivated. In these cases religion and politics are inseparable. We're at war with two countries where EVERYONE who wants to eventually run the show over there, wants to do it with religious overtones.
When someone sympathizes strongly with the POLITICAL factions of these religions, they can become militant, like this guy did.

To presume that ALL members of this religion are violent zealots, is irrational, arrogant, and ignorant. There are well over 1 billion Muslims on the planet, do you really think they all support these kinds of things?

This was a political statement. Not much different than the murder of the abortionist.

How about this for a blunt answer:

As many as it takes until outdated prejudcial b.s. like this is no longer an issue?

Seriously - just stop with the anti-seniment of an entire faith of peoples because of the misdeeds of a few.

If you put it in your terms the entire human race is already damned.

__________

*edit to add - I'm not condoning his actions. He's a young kid. Lots of factor there influenced his response, I'm sure. Some people are just more "brash" and reactive than others.

Most muslims are peaceful and deplore violence. Just as most Christians are. Or (insert religion here).

A lot of kids today - especially in America - are idealistic, sensitive, human beings having a hard time maintaining a proper perspective and engaging in the right influences. Not enough funding, teachers, proper parental figures, so many factors at play...it's overwhelming to so many.

Including those who are trying to affect change in a positive, nonviolent way.

We all have our breaking points.
( sorry about my inital post - I let it stand because it serves as a reminder how quick certain things can trigger a reaction. I got my buttons pushed. That was my immediate response. I have a temper too. Sorry.)

I've been living in Arkansas the past five years. This hit close to home to me on both sides of the issue. It's been a rough three days for a lot of us here.

My heart goes out to the famillies of the two young men killed in the line of duty.

The death of this young soldier, who was not even in a battle zone, is sad. The fact that he was killed by a radical, American muslim is unfortunate, because it makes every muslim suspect. Just as the man who shot Tiller makes every pro-lifer, or every Christian suspect.
Both views make it hard for us to talk with each other.
However, as the investigation continues, we may find out more. There are a only a few muslims in my part of the state, and they have been very pleasant to work with, and talk with. We don't talk religion, but I can't stop talking about politcs, so I am tolerated.
Before we judge everyone, let's take a good look at ourselves.

Oh ok. So we can forget about the holocaust, slavery, the American Indian suppression, the Scots and any other group that we hold in rememberance?

After all why bring them up year after year when it was in the past. It shouldn't matter anymore right?

I am assuming this is the first time you have ever read the news.

What you should be asking yourself is why the MSM thought it fit to mention the guys religion.

Could it be to spread hatred?

Hey...it worked.

BTW...i am a Muslim. Care to accuse me to my internet face that i am a potential murderer?

[edit on Mon Jun 1st 2009 by geek101]

I believe you could be a potential murderer. Now what is your internet face going to do about that? Doesn't prove much does it?

Here we go again with the horrible generalizations.

So based on your conclusions the following are true:

A soldier is convicted of raping/murdering. But yeah, the US soldiers are awesome people, peaceful and understanding

A christian murdered an abortion doctor. But yeah, the Christians are awesome people, peaceful and understanding

A cop murdere his wife. But yeah, the cops are awesome people, peaceful and understanding

Two elderly women killed homeless men for money. But yeah, grandmas are awesome people, peaceful and understanding

A mom kills her son so he doesn't grow up like she did. But yeah, mothers are awesome people, peaceful and understanding

I think you get where I'm going with this. This has really got to stop here on ATS. Goodness!!!

This is something I disagree with. I think the reason so many wars have been waged in history is because it is human nature to destroy that which is different. That being said, the excuse of starting a war for "religious" reasons is the most convenient and most justifiable to those starting and maintaining the war.

If we had no religion, I am firmly of the belief that men would still start wars over other differences whether they be cultural differences, physical differences or something else.

Using religion to justify the cause of a war is just convenient for the warmonger.

Dont blame all Muslims for the actions of a few. In the news in England lately there have been quite a few reports of moderate muslims fighting with extreme muslims.

The guy who led the protest against British troops returning home has been driven from his home town by his fellow muslims. (According to a news paper)

I have to admit the muslim religion isn't one of my favourite things. But I dont think that because some muslims are twisted they all are.

And to the people who keep banging on about the crusades, get over it. Who cares, they started because the muslim world was expanding and attacking the neighbouring christian areas. Mainly Byzantine,

www.neobyzantine.org...

But again who cares, lets just stop being so bothered about what everyone else is doing and get along.

The American military is fighting against radical Islam. A young man of Islamic faith committed a radical act of murder at AN AMERICAN MILITARY recruiting center in Arkansas.

These are the facts, go ahead and assume I am a racist, Christian, or right-winger. You will be wrong though.

Political correctness has brainwashed a lot of people, this doctrine has been stuffed in our brains from birth and it tells us that talking about about differences is bad and it is always better accepted to deny any cultural conflicts.

Well, I got news for you pals, not all the cultures can live together in harmony.

Regarding Islam, what concerns me is the fact that we are actually changing our lifestyle to integrate them but it doesn't seem to me that they reciprocate.

We might be fighting a physical war in the Middle-East but they are waging a cultural one on our soil.
Which is why i believe that Islam will win in changing our western lifestyle to their own Islamic one (see my thread about that)
It seems like our open-mindedness which looked like a great advancement and a sign of progress will ultimately be the reason of our downfall.

Because we have been forced to be "well thinking', believing that we could all share the world in harmony and that we had to be the better guy no matter what.
(try living in their country and see if you can ask them to change their habits for you and your sensibility...
)

Possibly a "Manchurian" candidate??? All for the media hype to point fingers and to make people "HATE" instead of Love. By using Labels such as "Radical Muslim" or "Radical Christian" or Radical Jews or Blacks or Yellow, etc. --- de-humanizes the actions to make it ok to kill. If they can keep -Wars, and murders and such in our faces everday, day in and day out that it will condition us that killing is the answer or way to have PEACE!!! I think this is all part of the big plan to condition us for enslavement by our own government or eluminati or whatever the going name is today! Just my two cents
