You were playing right along with the slavery section of this thread, Mr. Troll, so don't dare stand back now and pretend to be innocent.

It seems more obvious that everyone here is trolling me because of what I've said.

You guys are only trying to get some kind of response about me for mentioning bad things that America did.

I certainly don't believe that anyone here has the reading comprehension skills of a 9 year old.

I just want to know who America is, and it's very clear that you people can't answer it.

Okay, I feel that I must explain my position now lest the thread is locked because of the anti-troll trolls.

If anyone actually read my original post:

I was merely asking if the ideal of America ever even existed in the first place?

The atrocities listed were supposed to contrast with the American ideals. They all happened after we were challenged to keep the republic, as portrayed in the quote I gave. We kept it for a while, as another poster mentioned about the antebellum period....

Now it seems that the ideal of America is a corpse, in the same coffins that the founding fathers rotted in.

It was taken, swiftly by foreign influence.

CFR, IMF, TRILATERALS, UN...

Socialism...

Immigration...

Imperialism...

It was even designed logically, in the traditional sense of a quick comparison/contrast post.

1. List contrasting ideas to the question. (atrocities)
2. List a critical moment. (challenge to keep republic)
3. Ask the question (did we ever keep the republic)

I can't help it if you guys have learning disabilities.

Sorry for not dumbing it down so far that a 3rd grader would understand.

I thought it would be more interesting if anyone in the thread showed basic intelligence.

Sorry, I'll know better for next time!

there is a line in a song that goes, "you been married nine times, hell, maybe it's you"

In light of that, is there a slight chance you didn't do a very good job presenting your "question" ?

That's what I just admitted!

I didn't consider that my audience needs things dumbed down, originally.

God forbid you people have to THINK about what you are reading!

As I've said before, most of you are just letting the text you read do the THINKING FOR YOU.

It's exactly why the sensationalist mind numbing threads are always the most popular on this site.

Just like any institution or government, it is little more than an idea that everyone agrees upon.

We all basically agree that this "imaginary person" America exists, and we all talk about it as if it actually exists

However the fact is, "America" is an idea and not a person.

So, WHO is America??

America is not anyone!

quoting myself in hopes that you guys realize your HALLUCINATING!

there is no such thing as America, it DOES NOT EXIST

it is nothing more than a mental construct in our minds, that enables us to speak about GeoPolitical BS that we have no way of knowing anything about

yet there you all go on, arguing as if "America" was a flesh and blood living person....sigh

Yes triplesod, the way they are worded, they can be thought of as trick questions. I was just demonstrating what the OP was doing, he gave me a lecture on grammar on the top of page 3 of this thread

I see, I had a feeling that this is what you were getting at.

I should have given you the benefit of the doubt. Apologies.

... but the Idea that you say exists in our heads, exists within the heads of numerous flesh and blood persons. It also exists on paper, in digital media, video, etc...

Who exactly is America?

If it's not a Who then WHAT is it?

If it's a WHAT, then WHO carries it?

You wrote it because you and your ilk have nothing better to do than troll new members on ATS, ruin their threads, and continually make stupid comments.

I will not get into the whole slavery discussion. I for one do not see the point you are trying to make about Japan getting A-bombed. They killed numerous innocent civillians and sailors first. It was their mistake for attacking a country full of resolve. They should have listened to Yamamoto when he said, "I feel, that all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant." Their cities being leveled was the reaction to their action. Basic science.

You're missing the point completely. I never made any comparisons in the original post. This thread is not about making comparisons or giving excuses for why actions were committed.

It's about the founding ideals of a nation vs. what it has become.

Then get out of this thread with your nonsense.

You might not be trolling on purpose, but you are upsetting me emotionally and your games are causing me so much psychological harm that I had to take 2x my dosage of anti-psychotics today.

I'm serious. I'm on medication and your baiting tactics are having a real effect on me.

Please stop.

If you are at all a good and decent person you will leave me alone and not reply to this.

If you do reply, it's just proof that you are a troll and I will inform the mods that you are attacking me psychologically.

Okay, well, since you obviously contend that I do not have high intigence, I'll answer with a well thought out response.

To answer: I was merely asking if the ideal of America ever even existed in the first place?

Yes, it did. Thomas Jefferson said once (from memory) "The blood of patriots must be shed in order to water the tree of liberty".

We need a revolution every so often. As I said, Antebellum America best demonstrates this America. The period from 1775-1850 best shows American democracy at its best.

The Civil War was somewhat a turning point. Its actions did not directly change American democracy, but the Presidents that followed did. Grant, Johnson, Cleavland, Harrison, and others were all filled with corruption that filled the office until today. If one point changed it, it was then. I have looked at the period enough to distinguish that. It wasn't slavery that changed everything, but the new leadership (Though slavery obviously played a significant role).

Yes, we did keep the Republic, until the War.

Now hold on there Bubba!

That will be enough of that!

You admitted you didn't do a good enough job explaining your position. So people took it differently than what you intended, there is no need for name calling.

You stated your question poorly so deal with their answers and opinions. There hasn't been any trolling going on if anything you have been the antagonist.

It sounds like you're a NEW member.
This isn't the way to create friends.

The US, along with about 20 other countries, is still subject to the British Royal Crown

All of the founding fathers were either defamed, exiled or brutally murdered

Yeah...

Lets see the source for that claim.

I wonder if anybody actually opens history books anymore.
