I've encountered many people in my current life and in my travels around the world that I feel an intimate connection to. For some reason with these people the connection is both immediate and deep and I feel as though I've already known them for a long time. This may just be a trick of the mind or emotions, but I feel there is something more to it.

This occured to me after a dream I had in which I saw one of these people in their "previous form."

This may have been a memory from a past life but it got me thinking...

How would you go about finding people from a past life in this one? Have any of you out there found people with shared memories from another time?

I have a friend I met about 14 years ago and we are still the best of friends.
We both had the EXACT same dream and were really freaked out when we learned this. The way we learned it was i was telling him I had a messed up dream and he cuts me off and starts telling me his...I saw it was the EXACT same dream as i have had so I stopped him half way thru and told him what he saw next and finished his story for him....it was the same as what I saw.By the time I was done talking our eyes were watering and the hair was up on the back of our necks from being so freaked out.
I think we were either friends in a past life or have both been abducted together.
We still have no answers...I thought about hypnotherapy but he has a wife and a kid and I wouldn't want to shake his world up.He likes his bubble.
I still have no answers to this day.
I thought this was a relevant story for your thread...sorry I have no answers.

I have a few friends who were with me in a past life, we all agree on this. when I met my wife, she said to me that we had been together in a past life, and had been killed in a car wreck while running away to get married. I have had small children tell me they know me from somewhere, and one girl told me she had seen me aboard a spcaecraft a few years before.

I think when we incarnate, we always are with people, friends and relatives that we have been with before. Of course that are in a different station in life, a man who was your Grandfather may be your son now, and your former wife may be your Mother now. The thing is, reincarnation is a real thing, too many can remember things from past lives for it not to be real. Oh course this is my opinion only, my theory.

Great stories and links!

I saw a show a few months ago when I was in London and I know its been discussed on here before, its called "The boy who lived before." It was the first past life story that really creeped me out and seemed to be way to real to make sense.

The video is here

For me I haven't had any specific memories except in some dreams.

I love this subject too.

I can believe in most theories speculated here, mother was your daughter, father was your son etc etc.

But another thing i had wondered about this also is whether the people in our lives today, the ones that are negative, foes if you like, past, present or future, are also carried through our reincarnated lives?

I often have felt this "person", has caused me grief for an eternity lol, i know that sounds funny in itself, but im serious, like there has always been this repeating friction with this other soul, even though emotionally and physically i have disconnected myself from them, and have no "hang up's" they on the other hand just cant seem to do the same, therefore repeating the cycle...

Am i the only one to think this?

To add, the above poster, with the link about the boy who lived before, is an amazing story, and i was just thinking about that case as i finished writing this, his mind was not tainted in anyway, and at such a young age, he knew so much of his previous life.

I heard with cases like this, as a child they are able to remember their past life more easily, and are nearly always forgotten as they get older.

..my own thoughts are if they are linked to you, then you won't need to find them as such...your paths will cross eventually IF that is what is intended...

...the link, the bind, or as my culture refers to it - the Taurahere - continues to exist.

An example, one my closest friends, who was also one of my Groomsmen at my wedding I have only 'known' for some 7 years now.

We encountered eachother by chance on another website, met in person for the first time and upon shaking hands it wasn't so much a 'nice to meet you', but a wierd yet comfortable sense of 'nice to meet you again'.
We both know when the other is going through some stuff...both at times been aware of the content of eachothers dreams.
Both share similar memories...of events/people from the past.

Yet when discussing it together hold the same recollection of events, places etc.

We both believe that we have known eachother numerous times before...sometimes as allies, sometimes as enemies...for some reason our paths keep crossing...

Others have commented that when he and I are together its like a complete circle is apparent. Each holds within themselves something the other lacks or at least is not perhaps ready to embrace right now.

He and I were quite formidable when we both worked in Security together...we didn't really need to communicate, we'd both just know what the other was thinking/planning on doing next...we 'read' situations fantastically and would just know when something was about to go down and we'd be right there ready to intervene when it did...

Peace.

I always thought it would be fascinating to experience a past life.
If that is possible.
I also thought of documenting important parts of my life and preserving them with some items of value, to help myself out for the next life.
Kind of like a time capsule.
I have no idea though, now, who I may have been. I have no idea who I will be again.
There in lies the problem, if it's even possible.

I would bet that there are people out there that think like this, and I would love to stumble onto their stash.

Yes, past lives are an incredible mystery and a huge important question must be asked are these past life experiences truely the past? or do we come from a different dimension and relive in another life.

Anyway, I have met a few people from what I think could have been a past life, including people from dreams. Thats why I always look at photos and see if I recogize anyone from them. Its like a huge puzzle!

I once met someone. I had precognitive dreams about him....knew things I shouldn't have known before they happened. We had many coincidences, synchronizations that shouldn't have been. We once lived on the same street, he was raised by parents the same age as my grandparents who raised me, I hate guns and he loves them but my ex once bought a gun because of a murder at a local college...it was his cousin. We married at the same age, named our son's the same name, he carves wood and I paint on wood. I could go on and on. Needless to say, tho we are not together because of hangups he and I have not let each other go.

So, is this past lives or synchronized lives in other dimensions?

A good point and I would love to see an answer.

I once read somewhere that changes made in this life effects all other previous lives (I guess that means past lives in this dimension or possibly others).

Good post OP. Much room for thought.

Most intriguing topic this is

I believe in reincarnation, I always have.

I freaked out my parents when I was a little girl. The first doll my mom bought me, I named her Sarah, undressed her, tore her left arm off, twisted her leg and neck and put her down on the floor. I told my mom that she is empty now and that her soul is in another body. I was 3 years old.

I did that exact same thing with every other doll my parents bought me until they eventually gave up and bought me a remote controlled car which I didnt take apart

There were some other weird things too, I drew the same symbol over and over again, a head in a circle, a kind of amulet thingy, and I hummed a song all the time which nobody recognized. I still don't know what it was.

My parents were freaked out by my behaviour, used to hide it from friends and family. At some point I stoped doing weird things and they decided never to mention it again.

I think I was remembering a past life.

Also, I have been searching for someone my whole life. I don't know how to describe that. Every time I meet someone I have this thought in my head "This is not it, look more". It is not a cheesy soulmate thing, more like someone who is supposed to give me an answer to something. Odd really. I am still looking.

Oh gosh I hope not! There are many relatives that I certainly hope to have nothing to do with in my next lifetime.

That being said .. I don't ever want to come back. But unfortunately I know I will. I had a 'dream' and I was in my future life. It's 200 years from now in Eastern Texas. In that life I'm a boy (and in this one I'm a girl).

I keep hoping that I won't have to come back, but that dream that was more than real tells me that I'm going to be stuck here again.

Here is another one, this happened close to home and is still very interesting.

Happened in Lafayette, Louisiana. I am in New Orleans and it was cool to see something close to home.

I never anticipated such a great response to this thread but it has blossomed quite nicely.

The original reason this thread came to light is that when I was going through all of my old stuff from when I was younger I noticed a huge pattern. I had etched the letter M on nearly everything I found. Instantly I felt as if it was something I had forgotten completely about. When I pressed my mind on the subject all I could remember is tracing an M on my hand over and over again, then on paper, and the strange part was that I did this almost unconsciuosly.

Did my previous life's name start with an M, were old memories from the past creeping up into my present unconscious?

Another thread I read on here a long time ago that I cannot locate was talking about some ancient indian scrolls of paper and people who can read them can locate your past life and tell you who you were and what you did. Although I even lost the U2U someone sent me with the exact name and location of someone in India...this is also extremely intriguing to me.

Has anyone tried past life regression? I personally don't beleieve in it and would be a little scared to let someone tinker with my brain like that. I'd be willing to try it with someone I trusted though.

Auntie Em, is that you? Just kidding. I couldn't help myself.

Great post and very interesting take on the subject of past lives. Maybe that does explain a little the reason why some people we meet become important in our lives and the others don't. Maybe deja vu (spelling?) has something to do with it too.

I tried to meditate one time on past lives. I came up with a very clear and startling image of myself walking on a dirt road with bare feet. I was wearing a long skirt, ragged and filthy. I believe I was about to burned alive. That was enough to keep me from trying anything like it again. Too scary.

I've always been a believer. From the time I can remember, I had unusual re-occuring dreams, disturbing deja vu and unusual knowledge of random things. This was particularly strong in childhood.

I had a past life regression about 14 years ago and I would not do it again, at least not at this point in my life. I would not describe it as either positive or negative, it was simply an experience. A bewildering one at that. While it did clarify certain things (ie. my fear of heights, for one), it also opened a whole realm of reality that I wasn't ready to face. It's one thing to have strong beliefs and feelings, than to openly be faced with something of that magnitude. I for one think there are many valid reasons that we are cut off from certain knowledge.... fragility of the human mind perhaps?

I'm really interested in your past life regression experience and definitely respect your reasons for not wanting to do it again. What I would like to know, if you don't mind sharing, is:

do you feel that what you experienced was real?

do you feel that you are better for knowing what you know?

has it impacted any of your decisions in your life or your outlook on the world?

If you feel its too private to share here on this thread you if you can please U2U me I'd appreciate it.

Here are some stories from people about past lives:

I was putting three-year-old Johnny to bed when he asked for a bedtime story. For the past few weeks, I had been telling him of the adventures of his great-great-grandfather: a colonizer, a soldier, a community leader. As I started another story, Johnny stopped me and said, "No, tell me of Grandpa Robert." I was surprised. This was my grandpa. I had not told stories of him, and I could not imagine where he had heard his name. He had died before I had even married. "How do you know about Grandpa Robert?" I asked. "Well, Momma," he said with reverence, "he's the one who brought me to earth."

I remember someone talking to me, not with a voice, but more to my own mind, that it was not good for me to choose who was my parents, that it would not work out. And I was insistent on coming into my family, and it would not work out between my mother and father. I remember being shown various things and places that have happened in my life, even down to the house I live in now.

I can remember standing in a dark space, but unlike being in a darkened room, I could see everything around me and the blackness had dimension. There was another person standing to my right, and like me, he was waiting to be born into the physical world. There was an older person with us who could possibly be a guide, since he stayed with us until we left and answered my questions. In front of us and approximately 30 degrees below us, we could see the Earth with the facial images of two couples. I asked who those people were whose images appeared on the Earth and he replied that they were going to be our parents. The older man conveyed to us that it was time to go. The other person standing next to me walked forward and disappeared from my sight. I was told that it was my turn and I walked forward. Suddenly I found myself lying in a hospital nursery with other babies around me.

Of the people Prebirth.com has surveyed, 53% felt they remembered a time before conception, and 47% after conception, but before birth
