Just divide America already!

I think it needs to be deeper than that. It's more like half the country doesn't want either party, if they had a choice. They only choose between the two, partly because they don't even know there are any other parties, and partly because they have no choice, unless they just want to throw their vote away. It's a two party system, not because people don't want a third party, but because those parties are so powerful, there's no defeating them. Gov't is gov't...they're all the same, IMO. They have all the money, and all the power.

Well Satyr, you may be right. It probably goes deeper than that. Maybe my idea is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe in reality the public is so stupid they don't know who to vote for that will keep America united because they can't see through the web of lies. To me this is all very unusual.

maybe this election will be the spark that lights the divide into flames, i know no matter who wins there will be a load and a half of angry people running around. There is no middle ground.

I do believe we're in a state of civil unrest that hasn't been felt since the 60's. It's different this time, but I have a feeling many more Americans are going to become very angry in the near future. We're a time bomb. I hope drastic changes take place in my lifetime. I want to witness it and be a part of it. I want to fight to get my country back, if necessary. IMO, it's been taken over by, what I consider, hostiles.

Were not united as it is. You can go from state to state and the laws have changed. The only way to actually have a united states is to have the same rules,laws and regulation everywhere in the country. We aren't even close to being united as I see it. So dividing the country won't make any difference as the country is already divided.

Splitting up our country our country is a bad idea.

Dividing our country, as nice as you may think it might be, is actually a bad, bad idea.

The only reason we as a country survived is because our founding fathers were able to unify our country. Look at Rome. Rome had a huge, vast empire and a strong army, much like the United States. Difference though? They weren't united. When this country was founded, our founding fathers actually looked at Rome for advice at realized that what destroyed Rome was the fact that it wasn't united.

Splitting us up would destroy us. So many countries want in on the United States. As soon as we split, they see this and march right in. How would the Armed Forces be split? Who gets what? Who's going to lead each split? We will be defenseless, so what's stopping other countries from coming in and taking control? Who gets to keep landmarks?

Splitting up would mean the end of the United States. We would quickly turn into another 3rd world country.

If the USA were to ever split up it will probaly be because increasing nationalism only with political parties. You can see every day that dems and reps foriegn policies and world views are becoming increasingly differed as well as the people that are in the parties. So this might lead to CIVIL WAR

It's a good read, read this a while ago and this thread made it pop into my mind.

Once more, to all those people wanting and looking forward to a civil war in the United States. I hope this never happens, but if it does you can be sure that the U.N will step in and take charge and then we won't have either a United States, or separate states. The U.N and others will try to divide the lands of North America among them. This has been one of the things visionaries have seen.

All those who are looking forward to divide America, are working in giving up every bit of freedom they have right now. The right to bear arms will be the first of our freedoms that will be taken by the U.N if there ever is a civil war in the U.S. after that you can kiss goodbye to ever other freedom we have.

infection? You are talking about a civil war once more. Brother against brother, father against sons. We all have difference of opinions and that is normal, but it does not mean a war is needed or any separation.

The infection that you talk about, was actually brought to the States by those who want to fulfil their own agendas. That infection has been working inside north America for decades, trying to hide their true goals with promises of change and hiding as liberalism. Right now that infection which you talk about is also those people who are islamic extremists, or any other sort of extremists that are working actively in the States to propagate their agenda, or "infection".

It is true that there are some politicians that are corrupt, but you will find these in any government. There are other ways to deal with these people and work for the betterment of our nation.

But to wish for a civil war is foolish and stupid, because you are desiring more suffering of your own people to achieve your agenda, the agenda of just a group which is part of North America.

Most people that are wishing for a civil war have no idea what it means to be at war with your own people.

For every man and woman who thinks that there should be some sort of violent, civil war to change everything, there are men and women who want things to change in another way, without bloodshed in our nation, with our own families.

If this civil war ever does happen, neither side will win, because then those who have been working to keep their true agendas hidden will take advantage and take over the United States.

I do fear that our own government seeing what is happening among our own people might try to make some radical changes that would seem to benefit those that want "more freedom". But in truth those changes, like legalizing all drugs, will further downgrade what once was a strong nation and make us weak against those who want to change America to fulfil their own ambitions and goals.

If ever a group of Americans ever start a civil war to bring "anarchism" to the nation be ready to fight your neighboors and families, because i can assure you that there are millions of people who will want to protect what the United States is and what it still stands for.

Those people that say we have no business going to other nations and fighting terrorism and what they are trying to do in their own countries better take a look at history.

Throughout history many nations have gone forth in the name of freedom to fight oppression. The french came to help us fight the English, like the U.S went to fight otehr oppressors throughout history to make sure others are free, nowadays the new enemy that we are fighting is terrorism.

They have been the ones who have attacked us as well as other nations and have shown that they want to either destroy us, or die trying. Waiting for them to strike us once more is not an option, so we go forward and strike at them, even if it takes decades this fight has to keep going.

It is sad that civilians are dying, but it is what happens in war. Are we to stop this war on terrorism and let them regroup, become stronger and attack us once more? No, we have to keep fighting, that's the price of freedom, but freedom is not anarchy.

I hope america dosnt get that way, i hope the other side comes back to the way things used to be. but realisticly i just see the divide getting deeper.

You don't get it. Do you think people are going to just hand over their guns? A civil war would come because people are fed up with being under their corrupt gov't. In that case, they'd be the majority. They'd form an army. They'd be their own military, just as they were when we seceded from Britain. Is it that hard to understand? Russia isn't a union anymore. Have they been taken over?

Of course the laws are different from State to State. Different States have different needs and situations. A law or tax that works in NY might not be appropriate or practical for somewhere like Iowa or Alaska. Just as laws and taxes in those states might not apply or be practical for States like Maryland or Florida.

There are national unified laws. They are called FEDERAL laws.

There is not going to be a civil war. You cannot draw up boundries like the ones from the war in the 1860s. How do you define what is enemy territory? It would be anarchy. Plus, now the lifestyles and economies of most American States are very similar as opposed to the ones that led to the US Civil war. ie. Slave based labor system vs. the Northern labor system of the time. Back then, the difference between the economic systems and lifestyles of Massachussetts and Alabama could be almost compared to two entirely different nations.

In this day and age of information and corporate sameness- I just can't see the differences being large enough to spur on a civil war. Only ideological differences could possibly lead to something, but it would have to be a movement of unprecidented dimensions and aside from questionable reporting by the media, I do not see any proof of such a movement being on that kind of scale. But of the same token, those differences in beliefs have also held the US together since the Civil War.

Bush is splitting up America right before our very eyes, but not the way you are thinking. Bush's plan or the govn't plan is too create just an upper and lower class, wiping out the middle class completely. Which in itself will rip apart this country.

the only exception would be if both sides wanted to split. well theres no such thing as a clean break up, everyone knows that.
