Of course the first part of it is how it's all about racism toward the new president. Ugh, get over it MSM, we don't care.

Tis weird though, who has all the bullets, is it a few groups hoarding like no other, or just everyone's getting in on it!

Looks like people are stocking up for the long haul! Doesn't matter though, once it's in effect, they'll just come and get them from you, although now, with great hesitance.

I like the part about "groups opposed to single issues such as abortion or immigation may be deemed extremists. The fear is that they will use the economic downturn to further their agenda..."

Does Obama think he's the first President to ever come across groups that disagree with his policies?? If you disagree with him on abortion, immigration, etc., you are an extremist!?

Ummm...I thought that was what the US was founded on. The right to disagree -- and protest.

Wait until the general populace figures out that they, too, are included in these extremist groups and that he's not referring solely to the KKK, or militias, or the like.

I can tell you all this much....Part of my business involves firearm training....to be blunt, we train groups and individuals how to survive gunfights of every kind...as you can imagine, business has been overwhelming for us lately...but we've noticed a disturbing trend...we're getting more and more business from the Feds....to the extent that they would like us to be an exclusive facility for them....as in no more civilian training....I wish I could be more forthcoming, but get the picture???

Well I sincerely hope you don't do it. In fact, how about refusing business from the feds if business is otherwise so good from the private sector and you can get by just fine? Take a stand. Make a choice.

When I joined ATS in 2007 there were threads suggesting we stock up on all types of survival items.

I took the warnings seriously and hope all my ATS family did too.

We should all be sitting back now feeling good that we took action when the word was given.

That's one reason I love ATS.

I am sitting on ready and fully supplied.

WoW. Would you care to go further into detail on that. Interesting indeed.
If it compromises your business, I understand.

Why would FEDs train through a private business? Hmmm.

Perhaps they are infiltratring to get information. Careful chief.

You might end up on some "black list."

Indeed. SilverState Arms is rationing 1 box of 9mm per customer per day. So I decided my next gun is going to be a Walther P22 because .22 LR is still commonly available. And the p22 is the only .22 that has never jammed up on me.

You know, this kind of talk has been going on since 1980. The NRA became so militantly vocal in the mid 1990s that Bush 41 returned his membership card to them.... Please quit giving TPTB ammunition to use against gun owners, by not reacting to the anti gun people with such strong rhetoric as has been used in the past.... It'll bite you in the butt.

NRA propaganda.

sure, freak out more, and buy more guns/bullets, so you can freak out even more and buy even more guns/bullets.

heh...

omg, the gub-ment is gonna take away cheeseburgers...McDonalds said so...so quick, go buy cheeseburgers before theres a ban...hurry..and if you goto a McDonalds and they say they are at the moment out of cheeseburgers because of a massive influx of business in a short time choking the supply...well, thats just proof that its the NWO stealing cheeseburgers, isnt it

and if you can buy em tomorrow still, then buy em..quick!

some people will always remain consumers based on fear...brilliant marketing ploy...gotta give the NRA credit where credits due of course..they are certainly a recessionproof business...matter of fact, they thrive during percieved downtimes...like when the 2k apoclypse was going to happen and their profits of their affiliates spiked insanely by the same people. heh

keep sleeping, the marketers are depending on it.

With all due respect, I couldn't give a rat's arse about what TPTB thinks...they are weak and getting weaker by the day....If you think I am an alarmist, then so be it, but I am on the front lines every single day...I see it in the people I do business with, and more and more of those people are in your government...I've seen it with my own eyes, and yet I have to pretend that "there's nothing to see here"...

You do what makes sense to you....and I wish you and yours the very best of luck with that...

Black list be damned, we're just not worried about that any more...some will understand what I'm trying to say here, while others will dismiss it, and I respect that....there will always be the frogs in the pot that don't notice the water getting warmer and warmer, until it's too late...take this info for what you will...

And I'm sure most of you have already seen or heard about the massive tax hike coming for ammunition in the very near future?

If not, here's the short of it.

My father owns a pawn shop and business for him has been booming lately, namely in the firearms/ammunition/gold departments. His firearms supplier told him now is the time to stock up on ammo if you can, and that the federal goverment was preparing to raise taxes by 200% on the following ammunition types...

.223
9mm
5.56mm
7.62mm
30-06
.308

As most of you know, those are all the most commonly chambered rounds for guns.

This is GENIUS, if you think about it.

Gun control raises the ears of people like us. We hear those two words, we begin to rally. However... what good is a firearm without rounds? Precisely!!!

The goverment will tax ammunition so high as to make it unavailable to the masses, and will, in time, finally be able to 'pass' laws to strip the American public of it's right to bear arms.

If anyone has seen any publications or such about this increased taxation and could share it, that would be appreciated.

I'm with you on this.....but I don't own the business...and they're contracts are HIGHLY lucrative...although I have made my stance on this subject perfectly clear to those up the chain...

Great link, many thanks!!!

This is what disturbed me the most, however...

New Jersey 2008-09 2 Bills

Status: Introduced, Referred to Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee - 03/10/2008

Number: NJ S 1678 - Updated (Text, Status 05/07/2008)
Sponsor: Rice, Ronald L.
Title: Concerning handgun ammunition and supplementing chapter 58 of Title 2C of the New Jersey Statutes.
Abstract: Requires handgun ammunition to be encoded with serial number.
Status: Introduced in the Senate, Referred to Senate Law and Public Safety and Veterans' Affairs Committee - 05/05/2008

Serial encoding on ammunition? This is most certainly a VERY bad thing by any account. Let's suppose you manage to lose one your 'encoded' bullets... worse things have happened. Now let's suppose someone finds said bullet and uses it to commit a crime. That could be trouble.

Granted, I don't want to sound alarmist, but I do not like that legislation one bit at all. Also... wouldn't that prohibit reloading enthusiasts as well?

It's just like any panic buying; people hear about the shortage and start to buy for themselves "just in case" and the process is exacerbated.

What is a worry is the immediate association of protest groups with "extremism". That's a dangerous route to go down.

The fact is, anyone not adhering to the government view can be labelled as an "extremist" Extremism is no longer about violence, it's having a different opinion to that of the government in office.
And that is a real worry.

Personally, I think people are scared, and in a country where the ownership of a weapon is defended so rigorously, that'll be the first way it shows itself.

This is going to continue for a while, at least until people become complacent again and things begin to stabilize.
It all depends what happens before then, if anything does.
If Obama brings in restrictions and laws, it'll become really dangerous. If a group makes a wrong move or a state starts to really take seriously their idea of moving away from the union, it could all boil over pretty quickly.

I can't see Obama doing anything pro-actively. It's one thing to support a bill that someone else has to enforce, and a completely different thing to propose and be blamed for such restrictions yourself.
He won't act on guns, yet.
But if a group goes a little too seriously in the wrong direction, it might force his hand.

Thanks for your insight Roland. I also believe that we are seeing the govt make wake to the realization that this might be the time when things won't go their way due to the economic slide that we are in.

I don't have access to the mil like I used to, so your thoughts and observations are welcomed.
