Towards the end Dr. Mitchell states, "We are not alone out there".
He did not say, we are not alone out here, I say words have meanings, and if we are to interpret his words as they stand, we should, aforehand, be able to understand the context and gist of the statement and the difference between there and here.

Mitchell doesn't say anything at all that hasn't been posted on ATS at one time or other. He doesn't provide sources and his accounts are related from other people. We can assume that Mitchell trusts his sources, however there's no reason for us to. I don't think he's a wacko, although he has elements of 'wacko' like all of us

His position lends credence to his claims in the eyes of some. If you take away the position and his history as a moon walker, he's just a guy saying that someone he knows told him aliens have visited Earth...

My opinion is not, but watch this video and have your word.

Why not take a listen to the ATS Interview with Dr. Edgar Mitchell and perhaps get a better idea.

Of course, there's always the chance that dementia sets in after they retire... right?

Not often but I can think of one

Mitchell is an imaginative and generous person, but little of his public statements are really subject to independent verification.

His private ESP experiment on Apollo-14 is a good example of an event for which there exists 'summaries' and his own narrated personal interpretation -- but the full technical paper about it that he wrote and published seems to have vanished. Has anyone here ever seen it or read it?

In 1968-9 Mitchell trained on an Apollo moon landing crew under Gordon Cooper. Now THAT'S a team I'd have loved to eavesdrop on at the O'Club bar!!

Cooper was soon afterwards eased out of the astronaut corps and never got an actual lunar mission assignment -- the circumstances remain obscure.

Maybe Mitchell can cast some light on that, if anybody asks him at some public event.

Well it was certainly meant as sarcasm. I don't believe Richard Hoagland's theory of ancient glass towers on the moon, and I certainly don't believe that a highly trained astronaut like Edgar Mitchell - or any of the Apollo astronauts for that matter - could have been so blind or so stupid as to not see these theoretical towers if they were, in fact, there. Nor do I believe that the astronauts were later 'brainwashed' into not remembering. I think Edgar Mitchell is a very reliable source who isn't afraid to state what he believes to be the truth.

That's pretty much my idea too, but you can never be too sure as to what is what these days.

It seems that our rulers want all our important info clouded...

What is interesting is that a few years ago UFO's were almost a taboo matter whereas today we start the day with some well known people being into UFOs.
Edgar Mitchell happens to also be an astronaut with much acclaimed training, who was actually fit and lucky to get into space through the NASA missions. He certainly is no wacko to me although i am quite surprised !
Moreover he hasn't been past a peek age where a man becomes a baby again making up things. For Edgar Mitchell i would not suppose of him to become some UFO alter bragging wacko anyway.

What i feel the true picture to be is that we may still be at a reality where the one holding the truth is ridiculed by the masses of manipulation/disinformation...

I think once you have been through a life changing scenario like going off our planet and stepping foot on the moon a lot of these guys came back to earth and the shear scope of what they had achieved was to much for them to handle,A lot got depression.

maybe it is the fact that there is an alien presence out there and knowing this is just to much to cope with.and not been able to prove this or even talk about it is enough pressure to cause the astronaut's to have breakdowns.

I dont think Mitchell is a wacko, in fact the opposite, he is a great scientist as well as having set foot on the moon! i think he speaks out about the things he claims to know that are secret to the rest of us because its his way of dealing with this massive amount of pressure cos of his achievements.

I also Know he wants disclosure for us all and will carry on as he has been since the 70's till it comes ( if at all )

Edgar Mitchell seems to be very sincere and the fact he’s an astronaut adds greatly to his credibility. What he’s mentioned in interviews is not particular informative or groundbreaking, however, it does a great service to the UFO community as a whole to help change perceptions.

From the interviews I have looked at he speaks about three main things:

1. His personal experiences surrounding Roswell when he was a child

2. The fact that statistically life must certainly exist elsewhere in the universe

3. Some insiders have indicated to him that there is a cover-up of information about UFO’s

He’s had no direct experiences and provides very little in the way of specifics. Also he has stated that nothing out of the ordinary happened on the way to the moon or on it.

All men are fallible and can make mistakes, even those that have accomplished great things. I think he is honest and also must be passionate about the subject, why else would you subject yourself to being belittled by uniformed reporters on live TV.

This being said he does have some views that I have find difficult to believe; for example he believes in remote healing and that this has cured him of a ‘malignant prostate cancer’.

A article by the man himsellf on the subject

Until he reveals more substantial inforamtion, I will remain skeptical.

NASA and the U.S. gov - trusted Edwin Mitchell enough to give him complete astronaut training - and have him successfully complete a moon landing mission. I personally cannot think of many more qualified to speak on the subject. He risks losing a lot more than he would gain... by perpetrating a hoax... that, if complete falsehood - would most-liked by later revealed.

If a person is already massively famous - and highly-respected; what would be the point of B.S.'ing something like that?? He could make a handsome living by merely speaking of - and writing about - his space travels.

Anyway... these are the questions that I ask myself - concerning Edwin Mitchell - on this subject. And, if you do not believe a highly-competent and respected astronaut - concerning 'space anomolies' - would you believe anyone??

Again... that ( alleged ) 'wacko' - has actually traversed the surface of the Moon.

Mitchell is in the know. He's just a guy who is letting us know before he gets too old. He has nothing much to lose now his career is over. It's totally true
