How often would NASA train and select a whacko to pilot a capsule in space?

Of course, there's always the chance that dementia sets in after they retire... right?

At the risk of sounding like a nut, why would he say these things if he didn't believe they were true? It is easy to say that these folks are nuts or just seeking attention, but the ridicule and personal attacks that happen to them can't be worth it to the individual who speaks out on the issue.
They risk jobs, careers, reputations and the support of friends and families sometimes.
Worse than that, it seems that the life expectancies for UFO researchers and disclosure advocates is statistically lower than the average person with a high incidence of "suicides" and unexplained deaths.

Why go to that much effort and bs if they don't believe what they are saying?
I don't see an upside to it.

I think you are right, he's either a whacko or believes it is true.
I just don't see him as the whacko type.

Well then we have just officially entered a new conditioning/preparation era, with amazing things to follow i guess...

Do not ask me if that is a good or bad thing though...

I have a thread on the Booming disclosure talk.
Some have argued that my thread tittle was exagerated...

I just do not think so....

I believe what he says, to me he looks very healthy and in very good physical shape. Apparently he has seen something which he wont talk about but he is willing to lend his good name to people that has come forward with testimonials by bringing up the subject, using his status as a former apollo astronaut. I cant see why anyone with that kind of extraordinary life and background would want to risk so much if he didnt belive in it himself, its not logical. Do a google on Musgrave, a NASA astronaut, he doesnt confirm anything himself just like Mitchell but has highlighted the subject.

Wiki on Musgrave, check his vita, sheer awe.

Believe me, Edgar Mitchell is not delusional, nor is he suffering from dementia. I know the symptoms, and he exhibits none of them. Dr. Mitchell is telling what he perceives is the truth, and I believe him. What does he have to gain by lying? Is he pushing a book? Does he have an agenda? If so, I don't see it.

I think the ones who laugh at him and call him a wacko are the ones that have been most influenced by the media machine. In other words, they're more brainwashed than anyone else.

I think Edgar Mitchell is a wacko, I think all the astronauts in the early days of the space program were a little nutty, but they needed to be. When it comes to UFOs, I do not think he is a wacko. He is sincere and genuine and honest, going so far as to correct the record when overzealous believers mis-state his position. However, I think the importance is over-stated and over-hyped by those same overzealous believers; he has been saying the same thing now since the 1990s, he has no special insights or knowledge beyond what certain anonymous individuals have told him.

I agree with dooms. Most that rise to the highest ranks of any professional are a bit whacko, be it military, hollywood, politicians, etc.

Ed always had some sort of hippy vibe going on. I think this made him highly susceptible to suggestions that might serve some other nefarious purpose. Who knows?

I do find him very interesting, but there is something I can't quite put my finger on, and I know the same thing must be bugging a lot of other folks around here, or we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

No I do not believe E.Mitchell is a "wacko" of any sorts, I do believe that as he grows older in life he is becoming less and less afraid of the threats most likely directed to him and others if they ever spoke of the extraterrestrials. I think we'll hear more from him as well as others.

While you are right in the sense that he has been open to certain alternative subjects over the years, I do not think he has been manipulated. He is confessing a sincere belief and is very careful to clearly state those beliefs.

The only thing that bugs me is when people twist what Mitchell says or when they overstate it. While he has been talking about it for over a decade and is open to some "woo" beliefs, he is still one of the best representatives this field has; there is no need to over-hype him or his beliefs.

What threats would that be? Mitchell has been careful to articulate just what he knows and how he knows it. He puts no spin on it or ever tries to pad it. He has never mentioned (to the best of my knowledge) any threats.

(edited for spelling)

I've stated before and i don't mind repeating myself, I think Dr. Mitchell is dead on, and I also believe that the goings on during the first Apollo Lunar landing are why Neil Armstrong is so much the recluse.
He saw something that bothers him, still, to this day and mebbe, when he thinks his number is coming up, he'll spill.
May be the disclosure that will tip the balance.
But then again, what do I know, I'm just another wild-eyed writer on a conspiracy web-site, right?

Yeah, something not quite right about him.The final nail in the coffin so to speak was his question and answers thread on here....i dont buy his stories at all.I don't think some people really need an agenda to tell fibs in certain situations.

No, Mr. Mitchell is not a whacko. I am a whacko. Primary difference -- at least for the purpose of this discussion -- Edgar Mitchell is a known personality. He has credibility and speaks with reason.

All others with similar experiences are wackos. I'm in fine company.

I think people attribute to Mitchell far more than he actually states. For example Richard Hoagland who believes that Edgar Mitchell walked on the moon without ever seeing the ancient giant invisible glass towers soaring above his head. Sorry. Did I just laugh out loud just then?

Forgive my being from another overseas country but i did not quite understand that last sentence:

"Sorry. Did I just laugh out loud just then?"

I guess its irony, right?
