This new bill is simply another attempt by our 'elected' officials to continue their dissolution of the Constitution. Haven't we heard before that
the sacred document is "outdated"?
However, a new spin to this bill, besides the wording, is the timing. No, I'm not speaking about the majority Democratic congress that is currently
in session. I'm speaking about the financial distress we are going through.
Crime rates are up world-wide, with thievery and robbery levels being the biggest percentage gainers as far as crimes against people are concerned.
Everyone, even people that do not see things like those of us on ATS do, is frightened of the state of our economy and society. With crime being up,
of course more scrutiny is given to the fact that guns are used to commit these acts. Throw in the 'terrorist' threats, and you now have a
population that is more likely to allow passage of this resolution for fear of their own safety. And with that, the goverment will have succeeded in
bypassing the 2nd Amendment, which will open up a Pandora's Box of other amendments to be ignored or "reinterpretted".
We have to remember that, sadly, MOST of our fellow Americans are more concerened with living than with the quality of said life. They will choose to
live as slaves rather than struggle and perhaps die for freedom.
The question of course is what to do. The logical and sane thing to do is get involved, get active, and voice your concern to your representatives.
Follow that voice with actions and persaverance. Remember that nothing worth while is easily achieved.
If that doesn't work, and this bill does pass, then ALL of us should begin to think of the implications. Be vigilant, be aware, but don't be hasty.
Clear thinking and analysis are always our best tools and we should use them until they are exhausted.
