No problem. I've met a lot of folks that fail to recognize the serious side of life, and think every fight is just like it was in high school. They are of course entitled to their opinions. Never seen one survive a serious fight, but heard a lot of big talk from 'em, just before the boom was lowered. By all means, stick to your fists, and large talk.

I'll keep my guns, thank you. SOMEBODY has to haul your butts out of the fires you jump into. Personally, if I get pushed into a fight I don't fight lightly, I fight to win. It's not recreation, kiddies.

As far as not knowing what the law says, "they" say ignorance of the law is no excuse. They come up with laws to justify taking away peoples' rights, such as making obscure or common activities a felony. Uh oh, can't own a firearm now! Now they want to know the health, mental and otherwise, in order to reject applications for obtaining guns! How many cops and other government types have been mentally evaluated in the past? Now they come up with these terrorist definitions. I AM NOT a terrorist because I love my country and believe in the Constitution! I hate terrorists and I would do anything to prevent a terrorist from hurting or killing innocent people! I'd join the FBI or CIA if I could. But I am tired of me and my family being pushed around! Let the government do what the hell they please, just leave us the f@ck alone. Stop chipping away our rights!

A few points to be made:
1) The bill will pass with minimal discussion, probably on the first vote. There is no controversy - anyone who opposes it will be accused of favoring armed terrorists.
2) It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to administer. What it means is that every gun sale will have to be cleared by the Dept of Justice (A G) before the buyer can take home his new gun. This will most likely mean 60 - 90 days delay for a legitimate gun sale.
3) The term "terrorists" will be expanded to include anyone with a history of anti-government activities or statements. This will also require the creation & maintenance of an enormous data base. Perhaps social profiling will kick in to include those recently dismissed from government employment, single men over the age of 50 who live alone, anyone who has been treated for psychological / emotional disorders.
4) The practical application of this bill will be that no guns will be legally sold in the U S A. The end result: a HUGE black-market in guns with gun dealers making way more money than drug dealers ever imagined.
This will actually make guns easier to get although they will be much more expensive. (just like recreational drugs)

Protesting this bill after it is passed is a waste of time; once it is done - that's it. Learn to live with it OR protest before it is passed. But we all know that will not happen; this bill will be snuck in while we are sleeping. Has the NRA jumped on it. No. Why not?

I think thats some good advice...to be involved in what your individual state might be doing....and some of them are not at all happy with the way the Federal people are doing things...once again in my opinion you have given good advice...and it behooves us all to ponder it!

It's no different than saying : "Okay Billy, you're getting too fat, I'm going to have to remove the cheese from your macaroni and cheese from now on."
If they deem you a terrorist, they should deport you safely, not take guns. It makes no logical sense. If you are a citizen, no matter what, you have the right to guns, that is the constitution!!! I'm so fed up with lawmakers trying to change the constitution to align with their present day views!!!!!!!

This new bill is simply another attempt by our 'elected' officials to continue their dissolution of the Constitution. Haven't we heard before that the sacred document is "outdated"?

However, a new spin to this bill, besides the wording, is the timing. No, I'm not speaking about the majority Democratic congress that is currently in session. I'm speaking about the financial distress we are going through.

Crime rates are up world-wide, with thievery and robbery levels being the biggest percentage gainers as far as crimes against people are concerned. Everyone, even people that do not see things like those of us on ATS do, is frightened of the state of our economy and society. With crime being up, of course more scrutiny is given to the fact that guns are used to commit these acts. Throw in the 'terrorist' threats, and you now have a population that is more likely to allow passage of this resolution for fear of their own safety. And with that, the goverment will have succeeded in bypassing the 2nd Amendment, which will open up a Pandora's Box of other amendments to be ignored or "reinterpretted".

We have to remember that, sadly, MOST of our fellow Americans are more concerened with living than with the quality of said life. They will choose to live as slaves rather than struggle and perhaps die for freedom.

The question of course is what to do. The logical and sane thing to do is get involved, get active, and voice your concern to your representatives. Follow that voice with actions and persaverance. Remember that nothing worth while is easily achieved.

If that doesn't work, and this bill does pass, then ALL of us should begin to think of the implications. Be vigilant, be aware, but don't be hasty. Clear thinking and analysis are always our best tools and we should use them until they are exhausted.

"Any one of us can be labeled terrorists for any damn reason, and with this new bill, if passed, that is enough to take our freedoms and make us slaves to a government that is already completely out of control. This is an outrage!!!"

This government is not out of control: It's out of OUR control! It is working well for a bunch of gangsters, liars, profiteers, freebooters, control freaks and psychopaths that are in our government or are behind the scenes manipulating and steering it to where it is today - parallel hell!

One would be hard pressed to argue the case that we are whirling toward a totaltarianist, facist government.

anyone for learning how to use a crossbow???

personally, I find these rather interesting...

www.worldatlatl.org...

Maybe it's time to take up a new hobby....

heck more than likely, as far as the government is concerned, anyone who doesn't make over $500,000/year and donated to the ruling party is a terrorist.....

but, well, guns......
such an insignificant price to pay to ensure your safety, right?

just love the way all these kids were good enough to fight their war against terrorism, but then when they come home, well, they're gonna be the terrorists, so well, they can forget about hunting for deer even again!!

can we outsource our government to china, please???

they can't do any worse, and well, it's cheaper labor!!

I haven't read the whole thread but if you take into account the report stating that certain retired military could be considered suspect for terrorism... hmmm... a majority of those are gun owners primarily because they are hunters, not to mention protectors.

How would that affect the overall situation. Everyone needs to send a note to their reps stating a FIRM NOOOOO. I send one to my reps all the time. I wonder how much it helps but at least I did what I could. I like to think that if they got enough of those "notes" it would be overwhelming reason to NOT do whatever displeases the taxpayers.

They are not doing this for our protection , but to protect their own arses. You know what, f***' em , if they want a piece of my arse they can come and try to take it. They are trying to subvert any attempt towards being overthown in the future by the very citizens YOU claim they are protecting. This 'government' , and i use the term loosely, has become riduculous and dangerous.

So, anybody ever wonder why the fine print for this group denies us the ability to use the forum as a meeting place for "planning?"

If this legislation is approved, it will once again castrate more of our rights to defend ourselves from our government.

I suspect that long term plans are being initiated to quell any populace action that might interfere with the government's power and control.

Despite the rules of the forum, I invite anyone who is interested in leaving their computers behind and actually taking back our country to e-mail me at [email protected]

It might make me a terrorist threat, but I'd rather die defending the Constitution on my feet, that take in the ass on my knees.

Constantwonder, when the time comes for a revolt (and it will happen, as it seems the Obama administration WANTS it by pushing these unconstitutional policies) we'll have to ask these bunch of pu**y coward hippies to just get out of our way and go hide in a hole like the cowards they are. If they want to continue living like cowards, fine, just don't get in the way of those that are actually trying to do something about the problem.

well i don't hold the constitution as highly as you. i know our fore fathers were legendary and worthy of accolade, but i don't see the constitution as something that needs to be strictly followed. times change, and i think government should change with it.

Then I suggest you get out of this country. The forefathers DID NOT intend for the constitution and more importantly, the bill of rights, were NOT, I repeat NOT intended to be warped, abused or changed in ANY shape or form in order to fit any leader or dictator's agenda once in office.

This is something even one of our founders stated as well (I believe it was T. Jefferson) who stated that the constitution (which is the highes law of the land) is not a "breathing document" that anybody can change on a whim. His explanation was that, if that was the case, then they wouldn't have bothered writing it to guarantee people their rights, especially if they could be taken away with a pen stroke.

So I'm sorry, you may not like it, but that is how our founders intended it to be. If times called for it, you AMENDED the constitution, NOT change or morph existing laws.

So do us all a favor since you obviously don't seem to care about the proud american heritage. Shut up, pack up and leave. Obviously you seem like you would fit better in a socialist country we're you're told what you do. Yes, that's why I'm saying you should leave, you seem to like being ordered around, so I'll go ahead and order you around until you get to your socialist dictatorship... PACK UP AND LEAVE! DOUBLE TIME! COME ON!

This is absolute bull. I just read this and read my states gun laws. In the fine print I found that I have been violating the law for years. Now I find with this new law that my rights to own a gun can be taken by one mans word. This is a violation of the rights of the people. Its a fraking dictatorship! Be it with more then one dictator then they have in North Korea, but non the less.

If they try to take our guns away, my brothers and sisters, I promise you I will use my craftsmanship and allies to create new guns and distribute them to all who are ready to take up arms and remove the dictators from power as it says to do so in the constitution.

We could create a cheap underground weapons and materials trade agreement. With enough people, we can form groups nation wide to buy materials and provide workers to produce millions of guns to ship to different groups. The price for the weapons would be subject to materials while workers would be volunteered to also receive weapons and fight the good fight.

Hello all,

I would like to thank everyone for commenting within this thread. There are a couple of folks who have posted within this thread that I believe have zero idea just how damning H.R. 2159 is. I find that incredibly sad.

To those who have posted their outrage against this bill and to those who have posted on the last few pages. I would ask each of you to take a deep breath. There must not be any gungho nonsense going on anywhere. The first thing that needs to be done is, we need to find out how many people agree with the Constitution and how many agree with a federal governments unilateral rule/control.

I would suggest trying to create a nonviolent movement. Like: having people country wide who believe the Federal Government is out of control to display our FLAG upside down. Come the 4th of July each of us who think this government is out of control, we should wear a red, white and blue ribbon upside down, and, for those who can fly flags from their house or businesses, from July 4th to Labor Day I would suggest we create a movement that asks those people to keep those flags flying upside down as a summer long protest.

If the numbers are there then their will be more states to join this movement against the federal government. Or perhaps, if the numbers already exist in the tens of millions, then States will grow bolder in their actions against this out of control Federal Government, and maybe even start to fly the flag upside down as well. Anything short of trying to judge the entire will of the American people is wasteful banter and doomed for failure.

A simple but effective movement is needed to begin with, and having people and businesses flying the stars and stripes upside down, nation wide, would be one hell of a statement, and will teach Americans from sea to shinning sea that they are not alone, and who their friends are... and that this Army of discontent is growing larger and stronger everyday. Not to mention what it will do for local networking! If any movement is to succeed there most be local support everywhere.

Perhaps that is what we should be talking about and focusing on, and not having discussions about building certain stockpiles of violence. At least not yet...

I would really like to read everyones' thought on this idea. Or if you agree with it, just pass it on and if you like claim it as your own.

Knowing where we stand must always be the first step... then we can begin towards common understanding and discover which roads are ahead of us and how we can all reach the same destination. Anything short of that will lead to a deadend.
