thats also true
so it's pretty much 50/50 atm.. a fossil due to the dry desert background and time frame BUT the other half thanks to:
1. the really important dates
2. vatican announcing aliens are our brothers last year
3. Vatican to announce a 200th anniversary conference for darwin in early 2009 news.bbc.co.uk...
4. the stars/nebula/warp effect on the site
5. Obama's team have a lot of UFO enthusiasts
6. the secrecy regarding it all
7. a major press conference in which the documentary will premiere afterwards... if i see a World leader there hopefully Obama or Brown then every UFO enthusiast knows what the news is gonna be..

i seriously want it to be some kind of disclosure but atm i'm going with Fossil of the missing link or some kind of confirmation of water on mars or the moon statue.
hope i'm proved wrong and it relates to aliens

Just curious, but what happened in 0 A.D.? I'm a bit surprised that the History Channel made this mistake. From what I understand, I thought 0 A.D. never existed? I'm pretty sure it skipped 0 and went right to 1.

None-the-less, I'm pretty excited to see what this will be. I can't wait! If it's something that will have a "global impact", it has to be something quite significant. I just hope it's not a large disappointment because I don't believe I could forgive the History Channel for creating such bogus hype.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think it is just there way of saying the start of the gregorian calendar and the crucifiction.
If this is a non event (the word premier unnerves me as being a tv show) then I reckon a lot of people will be very upset, not just because of the anti-climax but because they are sitting the event with important events in history.

Dont know if they are tying it in with a date but.
Events on 25th May on Wiki

* Argentina – Day of May Revolution/National Day (1810)
* Africa Day commemorating the 1963 fouding of he AU's precursor, OAU
* Chad, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe – African Liberation Day
* Lebanon, Liberation Day (2000)
* The former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – Day of Youth
* Ancient Latvia – Urbanas Diena observed
* Saint Urban's Day (d. 240)
* Saint Bede the Venerable (d. 735)
* Saint Pope Gregory VII (d. 1085)
* Towel Day
* Nerd Pride Day

Oh I just think I got it.

May 25th 1961: Kennedy pledges man on Moon
President John F Kennedy says the US will aim to put the first man on the Moon by the end of the decade.

Is Obama going to pledge the first man on Mars by the end of the decade?

It's the Mayan Doomsday Prophecy.

Can't be as that video runs at 8 EST and Running Time: 60 minutes. There is nothing scheduled on History channel for the 9 PM EST hour. The video says it starts at 9 PM so they are keeping this under wraps.

they are just promoting their show.

Its highly probable that the guy who started this thread works for History channel.

Guys , don't waste your time on this thread

There are 2 possibilities for this:

1. It truly is a groundbreaking discovery/event (such as ET disclosure).

or

2. It's all hype for some non-event archeological discovery.

Either way, History should get great ratings that night. However, if it is the latter, you are going to have a lot of alienated(no pun intended) viewers, and History could end up doing real long-term damage to their brand and credibility, which I see the damage was already done for many people in this thread.

In response to those who felt the need to inform me that the book
"The Link" and the May 25th show are about two separate things, i fully understand that that is the conclusion many on here have come to (i do indeed read the whole thread before posting to avoid foot in mouth syndrome). I was merely trying to show the similarities between whatever is on the cover of "The Link" and a modern lemur to dispel any thoughts that the unknown hand may be that of ET, although i am not saying that it isn't possible however. Secondly as i stated before i understand that many believe that the book and the history channel show aren't related, and although i understand everyone's reasoning behind this conclusion i must say that no one can be 100% sure that the book and the May 25th show aren't related. There is actually more evidence that the book and show are related than there is supporting the theory that they are not. Regardless there really is no way to know what the show is or is not about until it airs.

Now if you want to know what i think... i would bet money on it being about some sort of primate missing link. I sure hope it is about something much more fantastic but i imagine it is about something of a much more "mudane" fashion.

Lets hope it something more other than another damn ancient primate. Lets hope its an Alien/Ape breed that links with our DNA

but i also recall seeing somewhere that they was discovered May 11 or 12 or something maybe i read something wrong. who knows

Just to throw this out there.....

Space Shuttle Atlantis is due to return from servicing Hubble on the 22nd.

en.wikipedia.org...

Servicing Mission 4 (SM4), is the last Shuttle mission (STS-125) for the Hubble Space Telescope.[65] On SM4 astronauts over the course of five spacewalks will install two new instruments, (Wide Field Camera 3 and the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph), repair two instruments that have failed (the Advanced Camera for Surveys and the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph) and perform other component replacements that should keep the telescope functioning at least into 2014.

It's doubtful this has anything to do with it, but you never know.

How would you be able to prove that a fossil is alien? It may look alien but that would be just assumed an unknown species. I can't think of a way to determine if a fossil is of extra-terrestrial in origin, other than finding one in a meteorite, is there one?

Lying inside a high security vault, deep within the heart of one of the world’s leading museums, is a discovery that will change textbooks, change science, and change how we understand the human race. The author of Untitled has been given exclusive access to all of the research and the team of top scientists who have been validating the discovery, the announcement of which will send shock waves around the world. The discovery will be announced at a major press conference followed by a media blitz and a documentary that will air on the History Channel following the press conference.

Alien Fossil in a meteorite???? dont think so that would of been a discovered alien life form, would it?

They should just get on with it. I hate watching Obama speak but if he is going to announce Alien Disclourse than im all ears, hopefully Gordon Brown will be there so I can better understand what is happening, I rather watch him speak honestly.

but he will finally get respect out of me if he did this, it probably the only thing that will.

Lets go for ALIENS!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I think I recall a couple months back, some news about breakthroughs in cold fuson by U.S. scientists. Maybe they finally figured it out? This assuming they don't aready know how and just don't release it 'cause of the fossil fuel profits.

19 pages already...wow. I have not gone through them all and I´m sorry if this has been posted already, but the History"hype" has to do with the discovery of a 47 million year old fossil in Germany of a primate which may be the distant ancestor of modern apes, chimps and man.

blogs.sciencemag.org...

Over hyped indeed.

Or not, i agree that this is it.
blogs.sciencemag.org...

Read carefully.

"WORLD RENOWNED SCIENTISTS REVEAL A REVOLUTIONARY SCIENTIFIC FIND THAT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING," blares a media alert that crossed ScienceInsider's desk today. The notice announces a 19 May press conference at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg, among others, will speak. They will "unveil a major historic scientific find" that will "address a long-standing scientific puzzle." The announcement is tied to an upcoming special on the History Channel, the notice says. ScienceInsider is waiting with bated breath.
