I agree with your sentiment of restricted border crossings, but allow me to take it one step further. The United States needs to completely shutdown the entire Border Region, and Shutdown all Flights, Shipments, and Port Calls emanating from Mexico, until we at least have a workable Vaccine in place.

I am abhorrently DISGUSTED with our SECDHS Napolitano, as she has time and again already proven herself utterly worthless. A reporter asked her about shutting down our Southern Border in response to the current Viral outbreak, and she responded that such actions would "Hurt the Economy".

If we will not shut our Border down for Drugs, for Kidnappings, for Terrorist Infiltration, and now not even for a deadly and ill-understood Disease, then WHAT short of a full out Nuclear Attack will EVER make the mentally deficient vagabonds up upon Capitol Hill take the proper course of obvious actions? Politics above the Welfare of our Citizenry is absolutely pathetic, and downright treasonous. Any loss of Domestic American life due to their inactivity, will be tantamount to blood spelt upon their sub-table dealing hands. Honestly, I am having trouble coming up with any concrete examples of our beloved overlords actually showing legitimate concern for the "welfare of our citizenry". Even when they claim to be looking after our own welfare or "security", it still comes down to boosting someones profit or restricting our rights.

Then again, I am quite jaded.

One thing is for sure, it is transmitted by chicken and other fowl so look for that to become scarce or very expensive if this continues. Other countries are fighting it by eliminating entire farms of animals.
Which means both restaurants and stores will take a hard hit so look for more closures, that is a staple industry.

Has anyone talked about the Donald Rumsfeld connection yet? If so, I'd rather expand on it in that thread. Can someone point me in the right direction? Or can we talk about it here? Don't want to break any rules you know...

Sure. The publication was titled "Rebuilding America's Defences: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century". It can be found in chapter 5.

It was a manifesto for world dominance. Chapter 5 also talked about (among MANY things) needing a new Pearl Harbor event in order to get a reluctant public to go along with their plans. It talked about controlling space, cyberspace, all information channels so they could only release what 'news' they wanted to.

Also in that chapter was discussed how they didn't want to compete with NASA for funding, as they felt that to much money was being wasted on the shuttle program. They wanted to create new weapons which were unbeatable.

I believe that the website may have 'disappeared' because there was so much damning evidence on it, including charter member names such as cheney, rumsfeld, wolfowitz, feith, jeb bush, scooter libby, and if I remember without looking at a copy of it, john bolton.

The rebuilding pub. that I mentioned was far from the only pub. featured on the site. Sad thing is, they managed to accomplish 3/4 ths. of what was listed on their wish list.

I just posted a thread the other day , because just the other day at www.abovetopsecret.com... that discusses the PNAC, the AEP, and the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq being the real power behind the Bush administration, and I've just learned here on ATS today that Gilead Sciences - the manufacturers of Tamiflu - counts in its board of directors several people I mentioned there. I read a segment of that document, and I think this quote has extreme relevance to 9/11:

If this is a manufactured biological weapon then who is the target? If these entities can target specific races then being more specific on who these people are as a race can also be replicated. You wouldn't agree that a superior race has lived here on Earth for this long. Maybe thats the missing link. This has happened before in the same cycle. All those ancient cities and artifacts of great civilizations oddly left behind. So this is it huh? Total annihilation. No more bullets and explosions. No more killings. No more wars. Hello, first post, but I think everyone is missing a key point.

If you were to look at the 1918 flu Pandemic, about 1 billion folks were infected. The mortality rate was 20 million.

The point is the ratio between infection and mortality.

If you look at the numbers out of Mexico, the infected verses the mortality,rate the numbers would fall into the same percentage.

So having no deaths abroad as of yet would not mean much. It didn't kill everyone then, and it won't kill everyone now. But it will probably kill many.

I do think we are not getting the full scope of what is happening. All the US infections seem to have happened in Cancun. That is a very long way from Mexico City.

As this seems to have broken out a full week before they realized what they had on thier hands, I would expect many mor cases to pop up all around the world.

70,000 people go through the Mexico City airport alone every day.

It's not about the climate, or the genes, or many of the other reasons I've read here.

It is about the numbers.

There are most likely several sub-variants of this flu. Patient zero who contracted it through close contact with an animal got a virus that was low in lethality. This virus spread to x number of patients. In one of the first generation x patients, the virus changed into something that was more lethal. The x-1 members of the first generation continued to pass the non lethal/mild version around. The mild early cases showing up in the US and other places are most similiar to this first generation virus. The more lethal version is early in its dissemination cycle.

The split between the very lethal and not so lethal virus didn't necessarily occur in generation 1, but this type of progression is the most likely reason people are dying in mexico and not yet in the US.

It still makes one question unanswered, how did the virus come about ? Everything seem to indicate how rare a swine to human-to-human virus mutation is.

One ominous sign, however, is that the Mexican cases are said to be mainly young adults, a hallmark of pandemic flu.

The H protein on its surface, having hitherto circulated only in pigs, is one most human immune systems have never seen, the crucial requirement for a pandemic flu.
