Governments are being informed then of the WHO decision.
If they are waiting an hour after the meeting then it implies something significant is going to be announced.

Does anyone have an official time on the WHO press conference/meeting? MSNBC said it would be in a half hour that was 45 minutes ago.

I live in Rochester NY a mid sized city in Western NY. This morning the county Health Director did a news conference and stated that he was fairly certain that we would have local cases. HUH?

There is no particular Mexico/Rochester connection that I am aware of so it brings the question: What does he know that he is not sharing?

This is really something and it is very interesting too that Obama has not been in the public eye in the midst of this national thing. I thought he had such a calming influence on the populace.

How can you be certain that there isn't a Mexico/Rochester connection? It would seem that Rochester is certainly a large enough place to house individuals who might travel to Mexico without you knowing about it...right?

Well, one can assume that anywhere close to New Hon Lon, the triumphate of the global economy (New York, London, Hong Kong) will be seeing cases. You already know that New York has seen cases from Mexico. Travel to these economic centers is massive, and travel between them is continuous.

Logically, you're going to see it. Whether it will still be fatal by the time it gets to you is the question.

This ENTIRE thing is already getting blown way out of proportion. It is just getting ridiculous now. Everyone is already panicking and NO ONE really knows anything yet. No wonder the gov has held off on disclosure so long

Going on my gut it would be that the O man is either getting tucked away very safe or being treated for whatever he MAY have been in contact to...If he was infact exposed to it and shows no signs of being sick,he will be under observation and tested ast to why he hasnt fallen sick..

Because doing that would adversely affect an already struggling economy.

Having a few hundred people come down with a mild case of flu is better than halting all work for weeks.

I don't imagine they'll be telling people to stay off work/school unless those people are clearly ill with this virus.

I agree - I do know WHY they do it - but "Clearly ill with the virus" - is "clearly" too late. This means massive spreading every day.

I'm not saying that I think this is going to hit pandemic proportions - or that it is even the same virus they are dealing with in Mexico - and I personally believe this is not a "new flu" - (but that is another story) - and I do understand very well the implications of an already struggling economy.

However - if we have a bunch of very sick people ....we have just then added a bunch of sick people to an already struggling economy. Which essentially means more of a struggling economy.

We can afford to take a few days off from the "should do" and get a sense of what is happening.

Unless of course there is someone out there who already KNOWS what is happening.
