Are they going to have huge Cinco De Mayo festivals in Texas ? I read that Mexico has cancelled all of theirs. I think they should cancel any big festivals right now until we get a handle on this thing, or see that there are no new cases.

BEIJING -- Hong Kong said Monday it has assigned a team of scientists to develop a test that will hopefully cut the time it takes to diagnose the new swine flu strain from a few days to a few hours.

Dr. Malik Peiris of Hong Kong University, one of the researchers and also the professor who discovered the SARS virus, said he expected the test to be ready within a week.

I am speaking to a guy from Mexico who i have on my msn contacts. He just told me something interesting. If i recall correctly he lives in Veracruz. I asked him was the flu bad over there he said yes but not where he lives yet.

He said about 75% of people including himself think it is all BS. But he told me that yesterday the government passed a new drug law making all drugs (in small doses) legal. Including ecstasy.

He said because of the media reporting all the flu and infections and crap that attention was distracted away from it.

Now make of that what you will. I haven't heard anything about it before...but still its weird.

Also this guy doesn't believe in conspiracy theories...although if he thinks the whole flu thing is BS, isn't that implying a conspiracy? If you understand me.
