Thanks for that...I will indeed start paying more attention!
I live on a big place and tend to only "see" what is requiring my immediate attention for that day.
First garden ever planted (I kill off silk plants as a rule) is doing pretty well and I will be totally PO'd if my garden is covered in white powder!

Looks out window "OH CRAP" they are dumping it on us by the truck load.. oh wait... its just snow."

White powder would not show up here, still getting snow storms. Up to a inch expected for some areas today on top of what we got the past few days.

World takes drastic steps to contain swine flu
news.yahoo.com...

From Egypt's order that all 300,000 pigs in the country be slaughtered to travel bans and putting the kibosh on kissing, the world is taking drastic — and some say debatable — measures to combat swine flu.

Egypt ordered the pig slaughter even though there hasn't been a single case of swine flu there and no evidence that pigs have spread the disease. Britain, with only five cases, is trying to buy 32 million masks. And in the United States, President Barack Obama said more of the country's 132,000 schools may have to be shuttered.

At airports from Japan to South Korea to Greece and Turkey, thermal cameras were trained on airline passengers to see if any were feverish. And Lebanon discouraged traditional Arab peck-on-the-cheek greetings, even though no one has come down with the virus there.

Yup, more snow possible today. Our summers are very short. But we dont get near as hot as the rest of the country. Yea, i love the area, go for a ride in the mountians and be lucky if you see one other person. Realy get out and enjoy nature.

I kicked a star for this one, That is a very wise observation. Since the virus can live for days on something it would be quite possible that it is being or could be transferd on fruit and veggies. I am sure this is something that TPTB have not considerd as of yet.

Hx3_1963 you should send that to WHO and see if they will incorp it. *lol* NAU Flu, it has a catchy rime to it... i like it.

Life as a Disaster Movie
www.breakpoint.org...

Edgar Hernandez probably doesn’t understand the fuss he created. When the 5-year-old from the Mexican state of Campeche coughed, the world caught a nervous breakdown.

Hernandez has been identified as the first person to have been infected with the strain of swine flu known as H1N1. As of yesterday there were approximately 2500 suspected cases of swine flu in Mexico with 159 suspected deaths.

In the U.S., the number of confirmed cases has “risen” to 64 with one death. The increase is at least partly due to what science writer Sandy Szwarc calls “seek and ye shall find.” Since we are now actively looking for swine flu, we are finding more of it. As she put it, “Cases identified with increased surveillance is not the same thing as actual increased incidents.”

Thats a hard decision, it would depend on where she was and who she was in contact with, and who they were in contact with, but i think i would if it was me, at best she will miss a day and get points or what ever system they have if she is working, if things go bad, it could prevent you and yours from coming down with the flu , saftey of family comes before money, bills, and anything else.
Its probably a over reaction, but if i was at work and someone was suspetcted of having it, i would be home, no point in risking the chance of getting it and giving it to others.

What don't you understand? Swine flu was only discovered SIX days ago. You think it is just going away? Not until it has run its course and a vaccine has been created.

I am sorry to hear bout your grandpa, but as to what you said, I say exactamundo. If, in the United States where we have the finest medical facilities in the world, they aren't even testing for this virus, what makes anyone think that in an underdeveloped country like Mexico that is largely slums and ghettos, they are testing even a 20 percent of the people getting sick?
