Naked Wizard Tasered at Coachella

The police officers beg and plead for the man to put on his robes, but all the Naked Wizard wants to do is be free of his wizard sleeves and hang in the breeze. He throws his colorful garb onto the grass.

"It doesn't have to stop," the Naked Wizard says.

"I'll tell you what," the cop says. "You can have a great time -- but you can have an even better time if you put your clothes on...Can I get them for you?"

The officer grabs the gown and tosses to the Naked Wizard, but he casts it away again. Then the cops put on their rubber gloves, and things get ugly.

This video is yet another abuse of the police taser. Where has our freedom of speech and expression gone? Does this man really need to be tasered for being naked at a festival? This is a complete abuse of power and the police, while reasonable, didn't need to take it to that level..

Sure, the guy was out of control, but he wasn't violent.. He wasn't attacking anyone or causing anyone any harm.

Thoughts?

Its called being Skyclad and is regulary done by many followers of the Pagan paths, this guy was doing nothing more than believing in his religion, and the Cops should have respected that (even more so seeing as it was at a Pagan festival and people there would have expected some nudity anyway.)
It would the same principle for Tasering a Christian for refusing to remove their Cross. I used to follow Paganism myself so I know that this man was neither Drunk, Insane or Stupid. Infact what the Police were even doing there in the first place I dont know and they sure as hell shouldnt be dictating to followers of a religion as to what their beliefs should be.

Oh cmon. First, the guy was naked in public which is against the law. Its not against the law to wear a cross. Second, the guy was not cooperating with the simple request to put his close on. He could have either been tazed or forced to the group or clubbed a couple of times. What does it really matter. If you dont want the police to knock you around then try to follow their instructions. If you were wronged you can sort it out in court. They are out there risking their lifes so they cant just talk real nice to everyone who is breaking the law and expect that anyone is going to follow their instructions. In a nutshell, that guy deserved to get tazed.

What would you have done if you were the police? Would you have blantantly not done your job to enforce the law?

Sorry found the thread title too hilarious to resist, but now I've seen what's really going on, I'm shocked!
OK, so public nudity is illegal, but does it warrant tasering a guy? Hardly proportionate is it? So they offered to put his clothes on him, fair enough, but it's hardly resisting arrest is it?

If you were a cop, would you want to have to arrest /scuffle with a nakked man? I didn't think so.

Use the taser and get them cuffed and clothed.

The man is naked, and people are cheering him. There was absolutely no reason for the cops to surround him in such a manner.

Then, he offers a friendly handshake to one of the officers, as if to say, "I am here, naked in peace, leave me be and we can be friends". The officer refuses this kind gesture.

Then, the police tackle him, and taze him. The crowd boos. I should mention that they taze him repeatedly, after he is on the ground, for extended periods of time.

I say this too often, we live in a police state.


I have to say, I wonder, had it been an attractive naked woman, if the (male) cops would have acted in such a manner.

Humans have always been naked until clothes were invented, the law is based upon Christian belief anyway (swear upon the Bible and the commandments etc,) so everything the Law goes is against Paganism. The man ISNT a Christian and thus shouldnt have Christian Laws forced upon him, in the same way you wouldnt enforce a Christian Law upon a Muslim Faith.

He didnt get tazed because he was naked. He got tazed because he was resisting arrest. The cops try several times to get the man to put his clothes on. They pick them up and hand them to him and he throws them away. Then when they go to arrest him he is resisting. It was his own fault he got tazed, but I am sure some jury will award him 20 million or so. So much for justice.

Nudity is ABSOLUTELY no excuse to use a taser on someone. This guy was obviously not upsetting anyone, the cops should have let him be.

Its a goddamn human body, how PC are we going to get before we end up like 1984?

I wonder what those three cops would have done if everyone that was whistling and cheering at the guy, telling him to take it all off, had as well taken their clothing off? Tasered everyone?

I bet they would not have tasered a woman who had her shirt off (sarcasm). USA citizens are so neurotic about nudity. Don't take that the wrong way, I am from the USA. I just think that at a festival such as this, nudity is expected as a previous poster pointed out, it is called being skyclad, and can be a part of the Wiccan and Pagan religions. This was a Pagan festival, so it is not like the people who attended were unaware.

I guess they must have thought he was "brandishing" a dangerous weapon.

He was resisting arrest. If he would have gotten dressed during any of the 50 times they told him to get dressed and if he hadnt resisted arrest he wouldnt have been tazed, heck he probably wouldnt have been arrested. Anyone with sense knows that you cant resist arrest. You cant just tell them no and start patting on their shoulder and stuff. That is totally disrespectful. Didnt his parents teach him anything? Maybe a couple of good butt whoopings when he was a kid would have prevented all of this.

No complaints in this case of tazering.
Plenty of warnings were given in a polite manner..

I'm sure the cops were concerned for his health.. I mean,by the looks of things the guy must have been FREEZING!!

Freedom of religion was denied, pagan gather so it was.
Freedom of unlawful search and seizure, well nm...
Freedom of speech, probably goes to show we have none.
And god given right of Freedom of Expression was taken. The constitution states that we have some god given rights that aren't found in the constitution which would include expression.

The people were expecting someone to be naked at this gathering, someone stated the kids, ya the kids who are brought up in this religion know that being naked is part of it so i dont think it would affect them as much as a christian child.

The cops didn't need to tazer him for he was bothering nobody, i cant wait till they start tazering some of you for not paying your mortgages or credit card bills. Then we can all come back and say "well should have paid now stfu and deal with it."

The other part i liked about this video is seeing all the cameras there. And someone said "They whole world is watching". Bad cops take note, we will soon get to you and in the end this kinda thing just pisses us off.

4 things the cops took into consideration..
in order..
naked man in a public place
naked man puts hand on officer repeatedly..''you never touch a cop''\
Naked man starts heeving cloths
naked man puts hands on 2nd cop,back to number 2..
thats when they decided to act..tryed to subdue him,but was nessacary to tase him..its plain to see..

Cops put these 4 things into prospective and subdue the naked man that seems tto be on drugs,drunk,that escalalated the situation..

Edit to add..there is already a cry for the constitution..Yes you have a god given right to express religion,BUT if it offends someone they have a right to call the cops to stop you at that time and for a court to sort it out..Once the cops are called they HAVE the ultimate right to either stop you or to let it be..Obviously theres something wrong with a naked man,to some it may not be anything,but it offended someone and thats all it took..

Children have bodies too. I'm not advocating public sexuality, but public nudity is one of those things that doesn't bother me.

Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe I'm just comfortable with what god gave us.

I'm sorry, he doesn't seem like much of a wizard to me.

He can't seem to figure out how to deal in a conventional manner with the local police.

He doesn't seem to want to cooperate when they request that he put his cloths on.

He could have laid down and put his arms behind his back, but he chose to resist.

Apparently he missed the announce stating "Resistance if Futile"


He was just another idiot and got tazed.
