Awesome, you guys are finally joining the rest of the civilised world. Congratulations!!

Am I the only one who sees irony in a guy calling himself "Thebudweiserstuntman" trying to judge how "civilised" other people are?

We happen to like our country the way it is. We take a lot of pride in not being a carbon copy of whatever uptight, unarmed socialist crap hole you're from. Let me go look at some of your posts and see if I can get a fix on where you might be from...

...Oh, United Kingdom, big surprise. Leave it to somebody who still has a queen to talk about other countries joining the "civilised" world.

Yes, you probably are! Judging the validity of posts by Usernames? especially on ATS!? C'mon man, find something more worthwhile to discredit posters who disagree with you!!

As for the Queen, a tourist attraction. Brings in a fortune every year from all the Yanks dying for a bit of history.

Edit for spelling

I don't expect you to understand the freedoms we enjoy on this side of the pond. You can't enjoy freedoms that have been striped from you by a dictatorship.
God, Guts, & Guns founded this country and having family that escaped the "Crown" and fought against the Brits, during the Revolution. I hold true the freedoms that they provided me. I will stand again today in honor of my ancestors against any government that attempts to take the rights that my own families blood was spilled for.

Guns and the people who carry them in this country keep people same from various crimes your not told about on the manipulated media.

Ok here is why I dont understand you all.....

Gun ban, is prolly the most retarded idea i've ever heard of, if it is to infact curb the amount of gun crimes and such, I mean Laws arent for people who follow them, they are for the people who dont follow them so we can charge them for something.

But if the gun ban is to keep the people from uprising against something they aren't happy about, or just to give people less of a feeling of safety, then yes gun ban is best way to go.

But how can either americans and Over sea'ers argue about whos safer and whos more wrong then the other... Calm down, no one is safer, your both as guity as the next, people would use lawnmowers, kid sissors, cinderblocks, toasters, random peice of metal or wood to commit the next murder, rape, threat, assault with, So why are we so hung up about guns.

Guns dont kill people, Crazy people with Wild ideas kill people.

Oh and I think we should just have a ban on Verbs..... that way no one is doing anything.... lol

What freedoms have you got that we haven't? (Bar firearm ownership) I'd be interested to know. Dictatorship!? Where are you getting this from?

Our constitution grants rights to the people, limiting the power of government.

Freedom of speech, press, right to ownership of firearms, right from a standing army on our soil, rights protecting us from unlawful search and seizures, and most importantly the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Being as I have the right to life, a gun has saved my life, and they also make me happy as I enjoy the sport of hunting and shooting.

As I said, we have the exact same rights, bar gun ownership. You didn't say where you dictatorship claim came from.

Well we don't have monarchy, or totalitarian government and I was speaking on a global scale. You can't tell me you have freedom of the press, your own government official stated that here on American TV. And you don't have a document guaranteeing the right of the people to have limited government.

A tourist attraction? A queen is a queen is a queen. And royalty inbreeds, from what I here. Gotta keep the bloodlines pure. I know it seems off topic, but I'm just suggesting a trade off. You go kill the hag, and I'll throw out my guns.

Not willing to make the deal? Here's option 2: Don't tell us what to do with our country, and I won't tell you what to do with yours. Last time you tried to infringe on our rights, we sent you packing. Us... and the French...

Hah.

People died to give me my rights. It would be a sick dishonor to repay those heroes by throwing any of my rights away.

Take a read at this:

www.jpands.org...

We are told at every turn that "treaties supersede the Constitution of The[se] States United" --- nugatory. Here is what Article VI, paragraph 2 actually stipulates on the issue: "...all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution [of any State] or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. [Emphasis added.]"

I wonder if that analysis is correct?

Oh well. At any rate, American gun owners are estimated to number as high as 80 million, with a total of over 200 million guns. The government's military numbers just 2 million.

We're approaching endgame, folks. We'll see who wins.

TPTB are trying to pit both sides against the middle. All they are trying to do is incense the american people. Set up situations, both real and imagined, to get neighbor on neighbor. Republican vs. Democrat, pro-life vs. pro-choice, Heterosexuals vs. Homosexuals, Christians vs. Islam this is all a game to them.

If we play we lose.. divide and conquer.

Oh please, "our constitution" does not grant rights to the people. Our rights are inherent.

The only thing the constitution does is recognize some of those rights and it's supposed to protect us from infringement of those certain rights. However the constitution is failing to protect us from those infringements, which is all the more reason we have to defend our right to defend ourselves from encroachments upon our liberty by a tyrranical government.

Thats correct. Any treaty supercedes our constitution. It was put in there originaly for a good reason but now its being used against us by the globalists to reduce our soverignty and degrade our bill of rights!

This treaty will seek to make reloading your own ammunition a felony.

1. "Illicit manufacturing" of firearms is defined as "assembly of firearms [or] ammunition... without a license...."

I always take pause when I see the "..." followed by someone "translating" what something really means.

Here is the actual text...

For the purposes of this Convention, the following definitions shall apply:

1. "Illicit manufacturing": the manufacture or assembly of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other related materials:

a. from components or parts illicitly trafficked; or

b. without a license from a competent governmental authority of the State Party where the manufacture or assembly takes place; or

c. without marking the firearms that require marking at the time of manufacturing.

Yes if you are building a kit gun or "manufacturing" ammunition...you must have a license from the state.

There are folks in New Mexico, AZ and other border states right now making a very pretty penny from trafficking arms and ammunition to Mexico.

Licensing barely works as it is, but we can at least look like we are trying to keep a handle on the trafficking.

It doesn't "outlaw" anything. You need to have a license if you are going to own or create your own firearms!

Great spin though...have at it.

Sure...here are a few links.

Arming the Gun Trade..good article and worth reading the whole thing for an overview of the situation.
www.portfolio.com...

Another good article
www.washingtonpost.com...

The Phoenix gun dealer stood charged with selling hundreds of AK-47 assault rifles and pistols, and the case appeared airtight: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had secret recordings, confessed confederates and a list of weapons traced from Mexican shootouts to X-Caliber Guns, Iknadosian's shop here on Cave Creek Road.

Rifles from X-Caliber were found at a gunfight that killed eight Mexican police officers, and a pistol from the store was recovered from a cartel boss.

Mexican and U.S. officials estimate that more than 100,000 firearms are smuggled south in a year, and 90 percent of those seized from narcotics traffickers and submitted to the United States for tracing have come from this country.

......"If you get the money, we'll sell it to you," said Jacob Allerd, 19, behind a table laden with assault rifles at a gun show in Pinetop, Ariz., two weeks later. "It's not hard to find assault rifles, they're just expensive. The cartels are offering a pretty penny. Or drugs."

From your Washington Post article the owner of X-caliber was set free by the Judge. The BATFE didn't even rest their case. Must have been very lame.

X-caliber must run a Federal check on all firearms sold, so if the Federal government doesn't say "no" then the sale is within the law.

Also we need to understand that the Mexican Government is only giving the US Government some of the firearms that they take. So could it be possible that the Mexican government is sifting through the firearms?

I also thought the the drug cartels used full auto weapons? They like to spray.

Roper

ps I haven't looked at the other link.

I just love the over-the-pond wienies who get all excited when it may look as though we'll have a gun ban here in the States.

They don't have them yet.

Treaty or no treaty.
