Schakowsky: Tea parties 'despicable'

briefingroom.thehill.com

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) blasted "tea party" protests yesterday, labeling the activities "despicable" and shameful."

"The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan . . ."

"It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt," she added.

So the polarization of the Tea Parties continues unabated as elected representatives start to demonize the protesters as "Anti-Obama."

If yesterday's Tea Parties were a "response to the Obama economic plan" then why have they been going on for years?

Perhaps another ploy to get you to shift the blame to "the other guy" instead of seeing the answer that is right there in from of your face.

The Federal Income Tax is an un-needed burden on a majority of households who watch 3 months worth of their income get looted by the Federal Government, only to have it handed over to the Privately Owned Federal Reserve as interest payments on the growing National Debt.

But will Congress Person Schakowsky ever address that? No, she will simply blame it on Anti-Obama, Fox News watching "right-wing activists."

What a Joke.

Mmm, indeed.

Yet I wonder how long the "teabaggers" would go before they started complaining at the lack of government services their taxes provide should they be withdrawn.

Just sayin' ...

Well, ignoring the pointless insult, I would go to my grave never missing a moment of any of these "services" you speak of.

American citizens, if this is true...... I would be very concerned....

I don't think I need to add more to this...

Despicable??? Sounds like short term memory loss.. I would hope 4 years from now I don't see that person's name...

I guess Representative Schakowsky doesn't have to worry about loosing income to an unfair, unconstitutional Federal Income tax when her husband is looting the finance sector for millions on the side:

Robert Creamer, a political consultant married to four-term U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, could face four years in prison on the two felony counts when he is sentenced . . .

Creamer, 58, a prominent Chicago political consultant, was accused of swindling nine financial institutions of at least $2.3 million while he ran a public interest group in the 1990s.

Hmmm services such as roads? Gasoline Tax, Plating Fees, Vehicle Registration

Education? Police? Firemen? Sales Tax, County Tax, City Tax, School Tax, Property Tax

I think you see where this is going, we are getting taxed out of every orifice we have. And with all the new liberal govt spending anyone with common sense knows it's going to come out of our pockets. Let's not try to place the argument that Federal Income Tax pays for every service we receive.

Interesting you should see it as such as it surely wasn't meant that way.

This is what it is being called: teabaggers

I would go to my grave never missing a moment of any of these "services" you speak of.

Fair enough, I'll be periodically checking on you in this regard.

My. My. Someone blaming Fox News for something...how very unusual.

American's practising their right to protest, peacefully so far as I know, and it's "dispicable"? Nice to know. I'll just go ahead and start letting the "gummit" start doing my thinking for me. I really didn't need that almost 300 dollars I sent to the IRS yesterday...how stupid of me...

As for the Services? I don't qualify for any of them. I make too much money, though you couldn't tell that from my bank account right now, thanks to that stupid income tax payment...on top of my other bills.

...and this woman has the brass to complain about people protesting?

The only service your Federal Income Tax dollars go to is to "service" the interest on the National Debt. The only reason we have a National Debt is because the Federal Reserve, a privately owned international bank, lets the country spend more than it takes in.

You may think its OK to donate one quarter to one half of your income to Central Banking Interests that got together in 1913 and wrote the Federal Reserve Act. I for one do not think it's OK and applaud the protesters efforts at the Tea Parties to bring this situation to light, even though the Major News Outlets are smearing and distorting the purpose of these demonstrations beyond recognition, which is really what these threads are about.

despicable is what the US Congress should be saying about themselves due to their incompetent legislation or lack thereof that has led to many Americans protesting what our government is doing.

Clueless should be her middle Name.

We wouldn't ever expect a congress person to agree with the tea parties (although some do) because it is CONGRESS that people are protesting. It is NOT OBAMA. But yes, the deflection goes on... same story, different day...

Really?

So you don't think this has anything to do with it?

Please, I hate taxes as much as everyone, but lets at least be honest as to ALL the reasons we find ourselves in this mess.

i'll trade you your tax payment for mine. I sent uncle sam a check for $20,000 to cover my tax bill. good thing i didn't need to buy food this week.

on topic.

so for 8 years when the anarchist were protesting Bush and every thing under the sun it was normal citizens in this congress persons eyes?

But when people protest now that god all mighty Obama is in office those of us that protested are right-wing extremist, racist republicans.

Like i posted yesterday in a thread at my local tea party it was a nice mix of republicans, democrats, independents, libertarians etc. it was a pretty peaceful protest on the steps of city hall. and Not once did i see anyone from Fox news trying to lead the protest. Hell they weren't even their!

it couldn't be we protested because we are tired of the government not listening to us, we are tired of the government rewarding bad business decisions, or paying interest to a private bank to handle our money?

That article looks like total propaganda and misinformation to me.

1). It was not merely right-wing activists but a mix of people from various political ideologies.
2). They were not just protesting tax increases but horribly stupid government spending with the likes of bailouts and such.

However, this article makes it sounds like it was nothing but a bunch of right wing extremist nutties who have it all wrong and are only there to protest non existent tax increases in order to engage in an Obama bash.

I wouldn't pay much attention to what this political hack has to say. She is, after all, just another product of the corrupt Chicago political machine that is famous for producing criminal politicians.

She is a very close political supporter of Gov. Blagojevich.
Her husband is a political consultant, who has received over $500K from Blagojevich over the years.
Her husband was also convicted of bank fraud and failure to pay federal taxes, and was sentenced to jail.

It's not a wonder she feels threatened by grass roots efforts to voice displeasure and dissatisfaction with Congress and big government. She is a prime example of the wrong kind of person spending our hard-earned money......

Yes, we are talking about the same thing. Spending, spending spending. And the war is a great example.

Congress would not be able to write blank checks for war efforts or corporate bailouts if the Federal Reserve was not there backing them with the fiat currency. Congress does not need to balance a budget when you have the Federal Reserve printing money out of thin air for them to spend with no accountability.

If you think your tax dollars are going to the war effort then you are gravely mistaken. That money was spent before it was even collected, and now you are servicing the interest on that debt.

No thanks...though I feel your pain, if only through a glass darkly. I make not a whole lot more than that in a year.

This movement is an across the board group. No one political ideology dominates it, to my knowledge...seems like Fox, and CNN and others covered it fairly equally...where's her outrage at the other networks? Oh that's right, we demonize Fox, above all others...almost forgot.
