A priest.

Unfortunately I can't decide between a shadow or light priest. In MMORPG, you go one way until you get powerful enough, and then switch. My soul doth protest... oh, yeah. nevermind.

Unfortunately, my soul stains very easily, and those stains are very hard to remove. I get what your saying OP, but things, unfortunately(again) are not that easy. Sometimes I wish they were.

Fortune. Luck. ...or something more?

Yes. I think it is a game of sorts, and no one knows what the prize is, if there even is one. I do love the fact that we don't know... it prevents cheating.

Before the human, according to Robert A Monroe, we existed as a non-human intelligence in observation of a much grander, larger multi-verse and happened to stumble on a system which provides a human experience.

In the end of his book Far Journeys, he describes that our original self can become addicted to human experience to the point that this experience is all it thinks it knows, and goes on, and on coming back to human life. Eventually, it starts to awaken and graduates from human life into what Monroe describes as INSPEC or a highly intelligent species. (Far beyond human intelligence).

I thought the whole point of life is to evolve, not devolve. so why would a superior intelligence want to incarnate as a human being? It's a bit like a human being looking forward to incarnating as a cockcroach.

Whatever the truth, one things for certain, the script sucks, as does the game of life.
If you ask me, this energy you speak of is nothing more than the AI of a computer, that created a game to amuse & understand itself and even the computer itself is nothing more than an illusionary simulation. None of it is real. Life without meaning is pointless, which is something the collective AI will soon find out. Then what? It will probably self destruct, rather than face the hard cold truth.
Or I guess it can always continue to delude itself.
This game bores me. Where's the exit?

I've heard this one dude 2,000 years ago could activate God mode.

Good one.
Yeah I remember him, that's the one who came to save us all, but failed miserably. Probably why he was kicked by PunkBuster, because cheats are frowned upon when playing this game. Well he's had 2000 years, so no doubt he's been away brushing up on his gaming skills for an second attempt.

Amazingly I was actually thinking about this thread when I was driving home, and thinking about how the current trends in our technology seems to be paralleling "Shadowrun"...

To the point that I am expecting an awakening and hopefully I get to be a jacked up street samuri, troll of course.

I just need some contacts, a Rigger and a good Decker... any takers?

(Combat mage couldn't hurt either)

And another thing...

MMORPG are our equivalent to Creation, so the Universe is fractal, like a pattern which repeats itself endlessly...

We are now entering conscious co-creation which is exactly that, we are creating life and inteligent beings ( in the near future)... in some years from now, our creations will be inteligent enough to create something themselves.

Remember a few days ago when a scientist predicted the internet to become self-counscious in 2030, as it is a network of computers just as the brain is a network of brain cells? Welcome to active and counscious co-creation as Ian Lungold explained in the Mayan Calendar.

And just like 2nd Life, some characters, or the vast majority, are addicted to this sensorial game world, that´s why that game is used mainly for porn or sex fetishes, although it could be used for something more enlightened. Do you see a pattern emerging here? Just like our own world?

I have to agree here.

I have played EvE for 3 years now. My awesome character is .. is an extension of me. I experience the virtual world thru her eyes. She is influenced by me who is influenced by the outside world. Its a whole round-robin we do.

I found a cool MMO graph ... I wonder if I would be on the bottom of this in real life?

I like that thread, I am happy to adopt a MMORPG metaphor to describe the Human Experience.

If this was a game world, and I was told I could go there and be who I am today, to be this person, I can relate to that as why I am here now, chillin' checking out what we as locals think is our reality.

However, the part of me that came here has woken up a bit to see itself engaged in the game of life.

Hence all the dreaming I am trapped in, my own Quantum entanglement with this world.

@tagus2012 - I hope we do strive for the ultimate enlightenment... the sex stuff is meh, ok... but fully realizing the truth, now that is amazing.

@ImzadiDax - That's a cool way of looking at it... ultimately you are correct in that we play this virtual world games with other people, we really are engaging them in a similar manner if we were to meet them in real life, except with spells, plasma cannons and a whole host of craziness.

At any rate, we are virtually engaging other very conscious gamers in a very immersive game reality. It is round robin in that perspective.

Why not? It explains phenomena more tangibly than many real philosophies do.

Buddhists say the entire physical universe is illusory, but what better real example than a made-up game world that exists as a sort of "hologram" across computers and servers hundreds of miles apart? And the science behind it is like the laws of nature for everything else here.

Social interactions are social interactions. All it takes is conscious, divided into discrete "units," and the medium upon which they play doesn't matter at all. Experience is what makes the universe go 'round.

So who are the GM's(Game Masters)? I need to know because my char is not leveling up for some reason no matter how many quests I complete.
I would also like to start a second or new character, I am bored of this one and I keep respawning/ressing in the same spot.

I think we also need a patch and an expansion pack already. This world is not big enough anymore since we keep adding new players. Perhaps some new servers/dimensions?

art imitating life or life imitating art?

Imagine the game is the master of itself, everything is the game, and there is no other. If you think you are different from the game, you're merely the ego of a character inside of it.

Our ultimate "reality" wasn't "created," but came into existence by its own inherent properties. It's fundamental "inherent property," though, is consciousness itself, so saying it come into existence by itself is no different than saying "something" "created" it, since "creation" is a conscious act after all.

Awareness is all that has ever been, absolutely every thing depends on it, nothing could be said to exist without it, and it's the primal source for anything and everything of any meaning and value.

Here is a link to "Far Journeys" (Online pdf) by Robert A Monroe, if you have never read it, it will certainly open up some doors of perception.

Just a FYI the work at the Monroe Institute ultimately entered the hands of the US military and influenced project StarMan when the US started down the road of Remote Viewing.

I personally think Monroe's work is probably one of the greatest achievements of spin doctoring the truth about it all in a great set of three books and a fascinating research institute.

You may be surprised that the option to re-roll a character and come back may not be a far fetched fantasy after all.

I just finished the book, amazing read, took 2 days.
It is in accordance with what I know, experienced and read. Thank you for posting it, now I'm going to read all his books.

It was no coincidence I stumbled upon this thread...

Cheers and thanks again!

It's the best of the three IMO, although the third really wraps up the entire journey quite nicely.

I am glad you enjoyed it, hopefully more will have a chance to read it as it's a click away to read.

to the op imho what you've shared with us is the most insightful metaphor I've yet seen regarding the nature of reality as described by the new paradigm.

The question I have is - if this is the case (we're just playing a role in a game) how would that change your behavior?

I think I'm going to start talking to more hot chicks myself!

And that it's liberating, this interpretation of human being, as merely playing a role in a game, framed within a limitless and timeless, spaceless domain of infinite possibility, to me is an indicator, that it is healthy, and if healthy, psychologically, and spiritually (there being little if no difference between spiritual and psychological growth and well being), then most likely increasingly more congruent with reality as it really and truly is.

Some ideas just resonate within and this does with me. I think you're very close to hitting the nail on the head with reality as a game, and the human being as an actor playing a role.

For me personally, my change is merely how I observe the interactions of others and remind myself of the rules of engagement with the system.

Of course, I am looking for ways to enhance game play, maybe find a few exploits or cheat codes ;P

If the world does end or change in 2012, it's basically a new patch that fixes all the bugs and problems of the previous versions. I mean the whole money thing didn't work out so well amongst other things. Also we need to nerf some characters because they exploited the system the way it was originally intended. Sure some characters would be "deleted" but you could just reroll a new one (or transfer to another server at no cost).

O, and Mars was just a beta.

I don't think we'll find much love in that song, other then it's just a fun song about playing the game. I just like the song personally.

But on the topic of love, if this is a game, I think Love is the measure of how we win it.

It is absolutely the most important reward that comes from playing this game. The fact that we learn to love. I can't think of anything more important as love is everything we really are trying to become.
