Roughly 48 hours and counting my friends. You need to get that story in while you still can.

Thank you masqua for yet another great contest idea which brought out some very interesting concepts on 2012.

Is this what you expected or did you have something different in mind?

Also I would ahve LOVEd to see a submission by you and by worldwatcher in this one not to miss mentioning several other key short story writers on the forum.

It was exactly what I had hoped for. In my mind, I saw stories coming from different 'world-views'... scientific, theological and, to some extent, even philosophical. Reading all of the stories as they were submitted over the past month, I was continually surprised and pleased by the obvious thought that the authors had put into the topic.

Perhaps, once a new contest gets started (soon, I hope
), I'll try to pen something myself.

Any ideas for the next one?

A couple of ideas.
1.) Create a background. (Give us an event, the same one for all of us.)
See how different the same event can be to each individual writer.

2.) Ask writers to submit stories where they "have-to" use certain words,
or colors, or locations, or themes. Give out awards for :
a.) Best adaptation, overall.
b.) Best usage of assigned words.
c.) Best short presentation.
Etc., etc.

Hello, any idea when this is going to be decided ?

It was a good topic , and am looking forward to the next contest .

In the original post announcing the contest it was stated that the winners would be announced on the 10th. That gives the judges a little bit of time to make their decisions.

It should be announced this coming Sunday.

I really love contests that are designed around the overall theme of this website. That being said, how about a "creature story" contest in which participants must think up an animal - maybe of the cryptozoological kind?

Think one up? Hell I was married to one for ten years, want a picture of her?
(Thank God she knows nothing of ATS.)

On a more serious note, I look forward to the announcements when they come and the next contest to be announced.

This was fun.

So, post2012 cryptozoological story line that incorporates color and the senses?
And mrwupy if she married you she would have had to have been a great woman at one time...

Im just hoping that the judging was done on content, there is a Writers Clique that promotes each others work, not hard to see, and it would be a shame to have these contest soiled as they are enjoyable.

just so you know, us Writing forum mods usually seek out help from non participants of the writing forum when it comes to judging.. This way all our writers have a fair and equal opportunity to participate in the contest and we get "fresh eyes" to review our works.

As for the next contest... I like the idea of something based on one of the forums... Crypto does sound good, I don't think we ever did one in particular, though we did have contest in which members got to choose which forum they wanted and of course we've had contests based on fragile and the paranormal.

Maybe since mrwupy is our newest forum moderator, he might be interested in finalizing the idea for the next contest...

The best part about the judging panel (who all volunteered privately to me by U2U) is that not one of them know who the others are. Their choices are also sent to me privately.

'If' the next contest is on Cryptos will they be imaginary?
Or can I use a REAL Mummified One I have stuffed in a tiny wooden box
in my closet?

*cue strange otherworldly music*

That's ONE closet I wouldn't want open at night.

On the next contest, staff are already discussing the 'what and wherefores' of it. You can count on an answer withing a week or two.

As far as this current one is concerned, the judging is almost complete and that the results will be added to this thread on Sunday.

That's Mother's Day.

Get it? Mother Earth Day?

No worries masqua. It's in a little wooden box with a plexiglass see- through lid. It can slide open but I got it taped on both sides.

It's got teeth too, but I don't think its used em' in eons!

Thanks for the info this has been really fun.
