I Like how these photo threads pile up 400 plus comments. it just goes to show you how self absorbed we all are. We are so eager to show how beautiful we all are before we get old with cancer. pls continue with the self infatuation. ive posted my pics years ago in a thread exactly like this one, its nice to see human self indulgence still is the main mindset, and the reason the humans still run the planet accordingly.

Just gonna throw a different perspective at you.
Many people here, on ATS, have become friends. Cyber friends...but still...friends.
Sometimes, it's nice to know who you're talking to (instead of a dancing bear or super hero avatar). Makes it a little more personal.

You said you posted your own pics years ago. Why? Were you showing off....or just...showing yourself?
Some of us choose NOT to put our real pics up. Is it cuz we're butt ugly? Nope....just, perhaps more private.

I love MANY of the members here...for their heart and soul...their words...not their looks.
To me, they are all beautiful.

I have no idea if this is politically correct or not, neither do I care.

I met a guy in Israel, an archaeologist, he was Cherokee. One of the coolest guys I've ever met, I can't begin to tell you how much he influenced my thinking.

May I ask you personal question ? And feel free to tell me to bugger off.

That guy always referred to himself as Cherokee, never native American.

Do you find the term Native American derivative in any way ?

native american is a "preferred term".

Cherokee is a specific tribe. There were hundreds of tribes. My area used to be apache, but the comanche (who were very, very bloody) brutalized them out of the area.

The buffalo were killed off in the area by "the white man" to starve the Comanche of their resources. Later settlers would collect all the bones left laying around from that brief era, and sell them for fertilizer (it was how the poor in West Texas survived lean times back in the late 1800's).

Comanche raiding parties were terrifying events that left victims dismembered and strewn about the praire. The Comanche were vicious when it came to defending their main water resource in West Texas.

ETA: i am from Cherokee lineage. My grandmother was a halfbreed. Her grandmother (or maybe mother...been a few decades since I heard these stories from her) marched the Trail of Tears. She grew up in the panhandle of Oklahoma in a small town named after my ancestors.
