I hear what you are saying. I am just afraid the only weight it carries is in the back of a garbage truck headed to a landfill. But maybe the revenue boost to the Post Office will help them with their financial woes.lol!I have been calling, emailing and mailing my representatives forever it seems to no avail. It just gets discouraging after awhile, which is what they want.I am just ready for action now in some way. We have to unite and march on DC in mass now ,in this Texans humble opinion.Gods Speed!

Agreed, its only a symbolic gesture, but it does have a message and it does carry some weight. You can't ignore a thing that clogs up whole post office branches with mail that all pose the same idea. Our Congress Critters are very interested in numbers, specialy if its tailored to one issue, and its their own constituents sending the message. Its a pointed attack on their jobs. It might take alot to have them feel the slap up side their heads, but it does get through, after a fashion!!

My urging for people to use caution in these matters comes directly from the founding document of this nation itself.

Where were they? They were watching Dubya pound his chest and talk about "patriots" while sacrificing American lives for big oil and his own personal pride. Iraq-Nam was not worth one American life, much less 5,000. This is the same rich-boy patriot who was too busy to fly around Texas in a plush ANG billet while the common man was humping ruck in the jungle. The same patriot who wanted, from day 1, to "get Saddam" for planning to whack DaddyBush. DaddyBush, much smarter than Dubya, told him not to do it. Dubya is stubborn, if nothing else. Now, when all of the Bush-Cheney policies have rotted out the underpinnings of the country, the blame is being shifted to a President who has been in office all of three months.
For Michele, it's all about power. Her ploy is to act out a role that she hopes will give her some juice in 2012, especially now that the bloom is off Palin and she is far from the public's view and wading through snowdrifts again. Michele has an eye toward higher office and figures that shooting off her mouth this way will get her a lot more interest than shooting a moose or two. She really doesn't want anything drastic to happen, she just needs the big dogs to believe that she fills their needs for an election and wants to stay in the public eye. The problem is that some people will take her literally [as we have seen] and she plays a dangerous game whether she knows it or not. We should survey the politics boards for "Patriots for Bachmann" who would consider voting for her as President or VP to see how effective her scheme has been.
Of course, part of the antagonism driving the Tea Party/March on DC concept is the way Pelosi and crew have been treating the GOP... which is exactly how the GOP treated the Dems during Billary's second term.
What goes around comes around.

People without homes will not quarrel with their leaders. History repeats itself in regular cycles. This truth is well known among our principal men who are engaged in forming an imperialism of the world. While they are doing this, the people must be kept in a state of political antagonism.
The question of tariff reform must be urged through the organization known as the Democratic Party, and the question of protection with the reciprocity must be forced to view through the Republican Party.
By thus dividing voters, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance to us, except as teachers to the common herd. Thus, by discrete actions, we can secure all that has been so generously planned and successfully accomplished.

Let's just conveniently forget that "big oil" wasn't rewarded at all by the invasion of Iraq. And the Americans who volunteered to fight and die in Iraq served a much higher purpose than the anti-war activists who disgracefully mocked soldiers and their families at military funerals.
But I'm not taking this socialist, anti-war bait. Let's try to stay on topic.

Prof Emeritus, you have wise words I dang near always agree with also! I guess if you dont read this, I know I'm on your list too. Thats harsh. What if they got the answer?

Pteridine,Thankyou for your response.I promise to work on my grammar and syntax.I know it is not the best but I'll keep working at it.But the cool thing is I agree with the substance of your response.Let's keep our common ground and not let these jerks divide us.Let the sore loosers whine. We the people that are willing to make an effort must unite and march on DC now.WE must be seen because we definetly are not heard.Let's make one last huge peaceful effort.Gods Speed.

Jake,
Thank you for your erudite comments. I appreciate you returning from space to make them and I will try to hold myself back in the future, if you promise to work on grammar and syntax.
It's not that I disagree with everything that is being said it is just that it seems like such a convention of whiners and blowhards. Some have talked themselves into revolution and the going hasn't even gotten tough yet. What will they do when it does? Head for Canada? I can't tell if they are non-hackers or are sore losers wanting the new president to fail.
Bachmann can't believe that anyone will take her literally but she has underestimated the gullibility of one fraction of the populus. Those true patriots that everyone is blathering about will be the ones that keep things together when things get tough, not tear them apart. Destruction is easy, construction and maintenance are hard. Failure to maintain the Union will result in a situation far worse than any facing us now.
