I'm sure that people ARE offended by it, and that's certainly their right. It was offensive, no doubt about it. But playing devil's advocate...what does anyone expect? The show is often rude, sarcastic and occasionally mean-spirited in the way it attacks the subjects of current events stories.
Given that, I just don't think its worth getting all bent out of shape over. Besides...at 3am, no one is watching it anyway.

I wouldn't apologize for it if I were them. Its what the show is. They hired him knowing what they were getting.
If enough people are outraged by it, the 300,000 or so viewers of the show will stop watching and it'll be gone soon enough anyway.

Hiding behind the veil of "Comedy" and light-heartedness when making cracks about dead people, right after they die, is quite another.

So let me get this straight, a couple of idiots on some late night fringe Man Show type of deal made a joke about Canadian soldiers taking a manicure, and we are supposed to be outraged because these morons somehow represent the country?
Give me a break, you would think the president made fun of disabled people or something outrageous like that.

The US media ridicules Canada all the time, the last time Canada said something like "Bush is a idiot", the Prime Minister forced a apology.

To the first part, the same day four Canadian soldiers die, this show mocks the Canadian Forces.
The controversy comes as the bodies of Canada's four most recent Afghan casualties are due to arrive at CFB Trenton. The soldiers were killed Friday in two separate IED blasts.

American soldiers die everyday. Does that mean the US military is immune from humour? The Sun made that link, the producers of RedEye probably had no idea 4 Canadians had died that day.
They didn't laugh at dead soldiers, they laughed at the military. IMO, they're fair game.
