At first it starts with a cat and then it leads to a human being.

Alot of people started this way and then lead to a human

Thats simply bad psychology from your part.

Im saying its as unlikely as someone squashing a spider with a shoe then in the future taking a hammer to someones skull.

Nope your possibly right, this is possibly how some serial killers start, kill an animal once a month, then it gets to once a week, then it gets to once a day, eventually he will start getting bored, and "may" move on to humans.

I really hope you see the obvious difference between squashing a spider and setting fire to a cat.

If I was the judge I'd give them a life sentance and make them scrub the toilets with their own toothbrushes.

Well not according to this....

Serial killers tend to share the following general characteristics:[9][10]

The majority are single, white males.

They are often intelligent, with IQs in the "bright normal" range.

Despite their high IQs, they do poorly in school, have trouble holding down jobs, and often work menial jobs.

They tend to come from unstable families.

As children, they are typically abandoned by their fathers and raised by domineering mothers.

Their families often have criminal, psychiatric and alcoholic histories.

They often are mistrustful of their parents.

It is common to find that as children, they were abused—psychologically,
physically and/or sexually—by a family member.

Many spend time in institutions as children and have records of early psychiatric problems.

They have high rates of suicide attempts.

From an early age, many are intensely interested in voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic pornography.

More than 60 percent wet their beds beyond the age of 12.

Many are fascinated with fire starting.

They are involved in sadistic activity or tormenting small creatures.

but a cat is a domestic pet, it's a part of a persons family, if not then why do you have a cat? Seems a bit foolish...

Not to me. Cats are just, cats. I don't condone setting fire on an animal. but 25 years is even more foolish. In fact, it's downright stupid. PETA stupid.

Of course i know the difference, what a stupid question to ask.Im actually going on somewhat personal experience in this thread. And i know for fact such disgusting acts doesn't equate to serial killers or inherently evil people, nevermind a 25 year sentence.

Until then your post has no relevance.

Kinda exactly like this statement?: When instead of slaughtering them and then cooking them we cut out the middle man and roast them ALIVE.

Where does it have no relevance?

It's an accurate portrayal of the difference between slaughtering an animal for food, and what was apparently committed in the article.

That's just dumb. Are sure spiders don't feel pain at all?

So, spider killers get a free pass because those insects aren't as cute as cats?

That's funny because from this quote here.

Originally posted by Solomons I'm saying its as unlikely as someone squashing a spider with a shoe then in the future taking a hammer to someones skull.

You seemed to have missed the fact that the person you were replying to was obviously referring to the torture of small animals/pets, especially since he specifically used a cat as an example.

Yeah, we all go through that phase.

American parenting?
Remember when several American teens used an SUV to find churches to burn?

YOu don't hit your children often enough. In fact, you don't discipline them properly at all. That's why they have no regard for consequences for they think mommy and daddy will always be there. They think they'll just be grounded.

Just to set this it straight over the cat and the spider deal.

Cats have BRAINS, full functioning brains, and are aware of their surroundings.

Spiders like most other insects, don't have a brain, all they have are nerve clusters that carry out functions to thich the spider has no control, completely driven by instinct.

Cats on the other hand have personality, can love and hate different things and in all honesty have opinions about things. So yes, a cat would "feel" more pain that a spider does.

it was a cat

it was a cat

It was a baby

it was a baby.

Would your tone change? A baby isn't exactly the most clever thing around, does that make their life less worthy than an adult? If not. Why would a cat be less worthy?

Interesting analogy. I have to wonder if it was a baby would they have been facing 25 years and would not the burden of proof be a level above which we see here?

I too am a lover of all god's creations (especially dogs and cats) and while I despise what these idiots did - I'm not so sure our world will be made any better by destroying their lives with a 25 year sentence . I'd rather put them to work doing hard labor on a farm or ranch and attempt to wake them up and become respectful law abiding citizens. Then again I suppose a social worker and their judge will have to make the determination of whether they're budding Ted Bundy's or just pranksters that didn't realize what they were doing and got caught up in the moment.

There are. But most are driven by poverty, not by being stupid, undisciplined teens.
