Exceptionally well written and eloquently said! It’s a pleasure to star such a superb post.

Here is a thought though. These are the people who gave us Sun Tzu and the Art of War and War as an Art. Is it unprofessional or an elevated form of artful expression designed at demoralizing or humiliating an enemy?

Communist China gave the world no such thing!
That was ancient China don't get the two confused. Wiki

Historians have questioned whether or not Sun was an authentic historical figure. Traditional accounts place him in the Spring and Autumn Period of China (722–481 BCE) as a heroic general of the King of Wu who lived c. 544—496 BCE. Scholars accepting his historicity place his writing of The Art of War in the Warring States Period (476–221 BCE), based on the descriptions of warfare in the text. Traditional accounts state that his descendant, Sun Bin, also wrote a master treatise on military tactics.

I stand corrected, though I would like to think their Military finds that particular Master's works as pertinent as ours does from a historical and tactical standpoint.

I think the original poster I was replying too was sharing something pertinent in the regards that there could be a growing break down in established World Order brought on by the economic crisis, though obviously he pointed out another example of Chinese transgressions to established protocols from a much earlier but still relevant date.

Looking for reasons the Chinese would do this, and the MSM would hop on it so quickly.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

Well think about.
That's like giving the UK credit for building Stonehenge or modern Egypt for building the pyramids meanwhile the people who did other than blood have nothing in common with those running the show now and yes the Western powers do study Sun Tzu and many others in our military colleges.

Communist China is a new comer to the world stage they have only been around what? 60+ years. Most of China's great and awesome history came way before them.

On a side note they will continue to purchase our T bills because they know something that many here on the forums don't realize and that is that the US is still the safest place to invest. They have faith in our economy.

For all of those who claim China is the new super power just don't realize just how many of their 1.6 billion people still live in horrible poverty and that the cities they show are for a very small percentage of their relative population.

Factor that in and they have a very long way to go to be a real world power.

I agree, wholeheartedly. I think it's important to remember that China despite its man power, mineral wealth and ambitions still hasn't even built a transport capability to land enough invading troops on Taiwan despite it's close proximity.

As far as invading the U.S. our oceans and strangle hold on our bordering neighbors makes that a nearly impossible option for any nation, especially China.

You know I had him pegged as one back during the election when everyone was crying, he's going to let Iraq go to the dogs and the Islamic Boogey men move in to Grandma's spare room.

The guy is George Bush on steroids. The reality is if he was white and from Texas the Neocons would end up loving this guy in time.

'd like to see them try and harass a carrier group

don't worry , the supersonic russian Tu-22m3 is precisely made for that

Sure thing Guy, we won't worry! AIM-54 Phoenix Missiles work quite effectively for downing those lumbering Tu-22m3's & we have plenty to spare

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon charged Monday that five Chinese ships shadowed and maneuvered dangerously close to a U.S. Navy vessel in an apparent attempt to harass the American crew. Defense officials in the Obama administration said the incident Sunday followed several days of "increasingly aggressive" acts by Chinese ships in the region. The incident took place in international waters in the South China Sea, about 75 miles south of Hainan Island.

Psst . . . .

Someone should tell them they have a huge hole in the front of their ship!

Maybe that is what the Chinese were trying to do. Derr

It very well could be. It would have been great to have been a fly on the wall during Clinton's visit!

I find it very suspicious with all the things the MSM is slow to report on or not at all that they picked right up on this and got it out there.

I smell a rat.

That was the part of the ship they had to hawk for gas! It might have just been it included the mess and the Chinese didn't like the food.

Oh the indignities of being poor!

All of that information is out of date due to the economic crisis--including the fancy weapon system, like the ones other countries develop countermeasures for, that we won't be able to maintain once they decide to stop giving us money. They should do that soon because we are some reckless spenders.

I think we are attempting to provoke a world war to distract everyone from our bankruptcy and maybe make some money for the elites along the way. Of course getting rid of excess masses that would otherwise have to be controlled is just icing on the cake.

aim-54 was a failure , and has retired . It is a big embarasment for USN that they didn't manage to shoot down a single a/c in IRAQ with much publicised Phoenix.

The Mig=25/31/Tu-22M3 were too fast and elusive, even for the latest F-14D/Phoenix combination.

Even Mi-8 helicopter was missed.
Besides launches toward two Mig-25's, these were only known use of AIM-54.
All were missed and that was the reason why this missile was declared totaly unuseful and was prematurely retired in 2004.
secondly, your nation is a biggest debtor , while China the biggest creditor ,GDP based figures are not accurate indicator of wealth

Thanks for that, I knew our weapons were overrated, especially when one does a cost-benefit analysis, but I didn't know they were that inept.

Oh don't idolize him ask him to post a real link to some hard fact...
The facts are that that missile system was out dated when the war broke out heck it was designed and engineered in the late sixties and deployed first in the mid 70s ancient technology.

I guess that's why the Russians are familiar with it

I figured it out with a little research on US Navy vessels and the position of the ship when confronted...

Why send a Submersible recovery ship to the south China Sea? When North Korea launches their new missile test that ship can pull up any rocket boosters or other parts that would drop into the ocean. or possibly shoot down the whole thing and recover it..

The story the news is giving you is junk and makes no sense...
