And another thread about the middle east that makes me sick.

So many people in this topic (sadly most are American) don't seem to see the big picture.

Who cares who would beat who? Who cares who is right? Israel's push into Gaza wasn't exactly endearing, but neither is Iran's sponsorship of terror cells.

Both countries have INNOCENT CHILDREN.

I know it is lame, to say 'think of the children, but seriously.

Just because you want to 'kick some more towelhead ass' (glad to see we've come so far... sigh) doesn't mean they deserve it.

I know the CIA has the capability of beheading any government in the world. Why didn't they infiltrate and assassinate Saddam and his entire political party? Why cost hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT lives instead?

If the US and Israel want to get Iran so bad, hows about being humanitarian for once, and using the CIA and Mossad to deal with the problem instead of carpet bombing another nation into glass.

You misspelled 'necessary'

Everyone has a right to self-defence. Israel is an aggressor and transgressor on mankind.

Thanks for the spelling tutorial. Always nice to have help...

Israel is an aggressor, and your point is? They are a little nation surrounded by enemies past, enemies present, and possibly enemies future, they have neither the time, nor the space, necessary (better?) to wage a static war on their own ground. So they do what they have to do to protect themselves. You don't like that...that really is too bad, I'm sure the Israeli Defence Forces will take that into account in their planning...

Transgressor on mankind. Wow, it must be nice to be so self righteously certain of the morality of others.

Why? Because Israel is an Ally of ours, and we owe it to them. You do not simply abandon Allies when you see it as Politically expedient to do so. I cannot imagine the thought of process of dis-loyal individuals such as yourself.

CARPET BOMBING? LOL, are you off your rocker? You have NO idea what "Carpet Bombing" is, and we have failed to do such since before Vietnam. Every Bomb Drop which we take part in, whether it be OEF, or OIF, is ALL Precision guided. You have obviously not witnessed the Barber Shops and Markets with nothing more than Cracks in their walls, while a Hideout Next Door was hit repeatedly 2 or even 3 Times. Do you even realize the immense amount of precision such requires?

If we simply "Carpet Bombed" Iraq, we would have conquered the ever loving Nation within a Month or less. The only reason we keep stacking up losses is due to the very fact that we do EVERYTHING in our Power to avoid Non-Combatant casualties.

I am certain that everyone involved in OIF and OEF truly appreciates your enormously ignorant comments based upon a lack of logic and understanding.

Ugh the Israel/Iran question again. Will they or won't they? In short, they're wrong they've always been wrong and its a huge mess. Anyone supporting Israel has a very narrow and westernized view of Middle East history and politics. However anyone supporting Iran is going to be gravely disappointed.

I'm going to use the other poster's metaphor here,
but Iran is basically a school nerd that showed up at the cliquey jock party that is international relations and business. Watch as the USA offers them a cup of punch in front of the sexy cheerleaders (multinationals), while Israel crawls into position behind them. At the right moment the US pushes them over Israel easily sending them to the floor. Punch (human life) goes spilling everywhere, the cheerleaders burst out laughing and Iran goes home crying, reevaluating their position in the world. Israel and the US high five and make sexy sex with the cheerleaders, contracting all kinds of economic VDs. Meanwhile, Russia bangs of the door of the party, and runs back to China's car, then they do laps around the block talking about how they "totally would've kicked their ass"... It goes on and on until the US loses its steam. Then, we're ALL screwed.

Please change the title of the thread. It's misleading.

so if your best friend raped a girl you would vouch for him so he wouldn't go to jail??? yeah, loyalty in that situation is much better than breaking ties with someone who conducted themselves poorly . . .

I bet the half million Iraqi children that died as a result of US sanctions are so glad that the US is so concerned about civilian casualties

Look at WWII.

We were in the "Great Depression." No one had jobs, the dollar was suffering and people were going hungry.

Now - we get sucked into a massive war - the people of the US suddenly find that jobs are open for helping to construct tanks, planes, ships - weapons, ammunition, uniforms. Suddenly - everyone has jobs again. People have jobs so they get money - the mills and plants have workers and are producing, so they get contracts from the government.

You're spot on mf_luder!

... and since the end of WWII, the US has been empire building in the name of "Freedom". Invading and gaining footholds in many other countries to control and exploit their natural resources. Eisenhower warned the US public of the dangers associated with the Military Industrial Complex and he was 100% correct.

Now the war machine brainwashes the American public into thinking they are going to war for their freedoms. BS! This is nothing but propaganda from the Military Industrial Complex and many of you are buying it wholesale, just as they'd have you do.

What amazes me on this thread is that all the people that were duped by the Iraq war are ready to buy into the next illusion called Iran. Hell, they can't even be bothered to make up anew reason for going in. WMD's! Hey it fooled em once.

I suggest that anyone who believes Israel (backed my the US) should go into Iran should watch this documentary first: "Why We Fight" - By BBC Storyville.

BBC Storyville

You can find plenty of clips on Youtube for the documentary but I doubt it's there in it's entirety. I suggest those supporting war should go and track it down in DVD shops or on torrent etc and get the real story.

Kindly point out the anti-semetism instead of using it as a tool to stop real issues being debated ala holocaust style.

Israel was set up for jews. They have a jewish symbol on their national flag. Their leaders all call for the destruction of arabs and see muslims as some sort of irrelevant scum. This is racist and sectarian.

Nowhere in this thread so far has there been any anti-semetism. Unless that means mentioning Israel and its heinous crimes against humanity. In which case that isnt anti-semetic. Stopping us debating these issues would be a cop out just like the holocaust issue. Israel seems hell bent on more destruction to the states around it.

I agree these topics raise the blood levels, but listening to people want more war, death and destruction is infuriating. Especially when you mention that the american public are being duped again and led into another blood bath that will certainly have consequences.

Please explain to me why we (as in I) owe Israel anything at all? This type of statement really makes me curious, I simply can't comprehend what your talking about. Perhaps if you made yourself perfectly clear? As for the whole Iran/Israel might-be conflict, why do so many people care? Honestly? If they weren't jews would so many people care? I just don't think anyone would give so much of a damn if it was jews killing jews or muslims killing muslims.

No one in their right mind thinks that.

He's a liar. He denies the holocaust. He wants Israel destroyed.
He was a leader of the hostage takers in 1979.
Ahmadinejad denies it. But it's obvious he's a liar.

News Story Here

"Many questions" have been raised by six former U.S. hostages who have identified Iran's President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (search) as one of their captors more than 25 years ago, President Bush said Thursday

From the Russian publication Kommersant.

Perhaps the most damning evidence against Ahmadinejad with regard to the hostage-taking came from Bani-Sadr, Iran's president during the early days of the Khomeini revolution.

He has adamantly affirmed Ahmadinejad was one of the kidnappers who held 52 Americans for 444 days. He said the former student leader was in the embassy throughout the hostage crisis. "Ayatollah Khomeini's deputy, Ayatollah Khamenei, demanded of him a constant report on what is happening in the embassy," he said.

When told Ahmadinejad denied the accusation, Bani-Sadr laughed.

"What do you want?" he said. "That he should not deny it? I was president, and I know the details, and I am telling you for sure that he was there, though his role was not organizational. He was the chief reporter to Khamenei."

You can not understand other people's culture. Most of the women there are very happy. They have laws that have held fast for centuries that you cannot understand. That does not mean that you or anyone else have the right to say they cant exist.
What do you say about Zimbabawe? Why not complain that millions are being slaughtered by a corrupt government..OH yes... they dont have any oil?

Sounds like you are describing yourself? So many lies in your post I dont know where to start. He did not deny the holocaust nor did he say he wanted Israel destroyed as has been explained in earlier posts. As for the hostage taking...it has already been proven it was not him... the picture circled does not even look like him.

Have you equally researched the crap that the USA has done to Iran in the past? I'm not saying I agree with some of the statements that come out of Iran but before you fuel the hate mongering any more, why don't you research both sides?

I can only imagine with the amount of conviction you have, that you will be the first soldier on the ground in Iran risking life and limb? Or do you want someone else to do the dirty work for you? .. You know... spreading 'democracy' on the end of a bayonet?
