The thing is that he never said we had to vote, he just said we have to decide.

And deciding is a lot easier than voting. Maybe less fair, but no less fair than someone voting who has no idea what's going on.

That is the issue though. Everyone deserves a chance ot vote, this effects everyone. Problem is, it is intense reading 30 pages before voting, so we might get people just voting, and don't even know what they are voting for. Or voting for their friends, instead of who is applicable. These are all issues we need to deal with.

Perhaps someone make a summary explaining what's going on (new thread maybe) and telling people about the vote and the reasons/logic behind it??

Like whaa, I to have just got in from work and am wondering wtf is going on.
Why should 'whatever is going on' just be limited to those who were fortunate enough to be on line whenever 'whatever it is that is going on' was going on?
We are all members of ATS of equal standing and some of us have been involved in these discussions for quite some time now.

Could someone please summarise 36 pages for those of us who were so remiss to have something else to do outside of ATS, like live and work etc.

we do not need "fair for the other members".

the larger this thing gets, the more un-wielding it will become.

we have a decent cross section of the membership involved right now. i am satisfied with the nominations.

lets do it.

Agreed, as for right now, i think all we can do is go through the Nominee list.

Time, maybe.

But, you still run into the problem of "open voting" for ALL of ATS. That includes people who have no idea of what they are voting for or on. This should not be a popularity contest. That totally defeats the purpose.

As a chronic pain sufferer, I would love to discuss medical MJ....it is illegal where I live. It would help me. On the flip side, I know how horrible drugs can be for people; my fiance had terminal brain cancer and OD'ed to escape the pain. There are pros and cons. There are issues that should be addressed and issues that should not be allowed.

People need to have reasonable, logical, and slightly informed people representing them in this discussion. Open voting by all will just deteriorate into a popularity contest based on who one knows or whose avatar is most familiar (I fear).

If I were setting up the "vote thread," I would list the nominees, and follow that with each posting their intentions and ideas. THEN the voting could begin, with all able to read the input from the nominees.

Well i have been following this thread since it started.Like someone else said its probably best if we have some relax time and get things in order.Im sure there are many members who would like to contribute, this isn't something that needs to be rushed.

Maybe. But first really let's just make sure everyone nominated can be on ATS daily until this is over. That may cut it down. And we could put like, a post requirement, or like a requirement for how much participation they've had on ATS. Anyone with a red warning tag is out? I'm really not proposing anything just suggesting maybe something we should do for now to try and cut down the list.

Again I'm not saying we should do it but just putting it out there.

So it would be like "Ravenshadow13- Proposed the idea of a separate forum for the "War on Drugs" and related rules and regulations for such an idea?

Well like, not everyone who was nominated has been involved in this thread

Yes we do.

Good rational decisions were never made in rushed time. Forcing an outcome RIGHT NOW, is not the answer. There are others out there who are interested in this stuff - but haven't had a chance to know what's going on. Seriously cut them some slack, and give them some time.

I second that.

Good idea.

Perhaps a mod could do the honours, or an amigo

I thought so.
People are too quick to get this done right now...

CHILL OUT!!!!

Let EVERY member have a look, see if they give a crap.... and then VOTE... if they so choose.

we (those participating now) are not the be-all-and-end-all of ATS.

Let EVERYONE vote.

This has to be the most ridiculous piece of nonsense I've read for years.

It's hilarious, this mad scramble for scraps from the Master's table, even more so because there's no guarantee that management will even act on this committee's recommendations at all.

And it's totally unfair to those ATS members who for whatever reason haven't had a chance to log on, especially considering the time differences. We've passed from announcement to nominations to voting all in what, seven hours ?

Absolute madness.

Respectfully suggest nominations by [date], voting by [date]. Nominations to be more than "Me" or "see my post on page 26, post 4" ... but to include, I dunno, 250 words as to why you want a committee position, what hopes you have for it, what special skills you'll bring to it etc etc.

Meantime let this thread ramble on, it's a total shambles & there's little if anything to save it now anyway. Hopefully management will read it in its entirety & pluck out the gems from the garnets & announce the way ahead in due course.

Makes a whole lotta sense to me.

I just want to know wtf is going on without reading 37 pages.

If I have an opinion, I'll give it in whatever way is agreed upon, if I don't then i'll simply not comment, or vote or whatever.

Which is why I suggested an organized election process. Where all the nominees are contacted, they either accept or decline.

In the even that they accept - they provide reasons why they would be best suited for the committee.

Once there has been enough time, and a mass u2u sent out, alerting people of what is going on...

People NEED to know the Topics.
People NEED to know who is representing them.

Members of this website need to be engaged and included in this.

Then, after the nominees have submitted their reasons, and everyone has had a chance to read through - they can submnit their votes based on a rational and informed decision.

Is that fair?

If we compile a list of each nominee and their contributions, it should go right in BH's voting thread. Next to each name.
