It sounded to me like SO and the others wanted us to determine the 5 or 6 committee members ourselves.

By the way, are there any other legal medicinal users here besides myself?

Yes ANOK....which i why i nominated him.
I feel he would be excellent and is a well balanced member.

If you have a prescription and talk about how it helps your illness or symptoms in the Medical forum, that is fine. If you list the side effects ALL OF THEM then that's okay to mention the mind altering state. But I would expect that no one says "You're so lucky you get to get high!" or "It's just an added bonus for me that it gets me high" or anything because people will also say "I bet you lied and just got the prescription to get high."

I think a lot of posts would have to be deleted from that thread. But if it focuses on the positive medical benefits and the people saying that they use it ALL have prescriptions that are legit, then it goes in medical. If not, then it goes in the new forum. Does that make sense?

So what if I go to the doctor and get a prescription of MJ which is legal where I am? And I describe the effects it has on my problem, which by your definition would be classed as touting its benefits or promoting its use. Now if someone takes BackStop, a drug with 25 side effects, and also touts its benefits to the masses of ATS, is that then OK or Not???? If they talk about its benefits, is that not PROMOTING its use?

Of course, that would be allowed. In the first instance, you are using a legally prescribed drug in a legally prescribed manner. It would not fall under the TC. The same goes for the second instance as well.

You can't talk about a drug and then not talk about its effects that it has on the body...Are we going to be able to talk about the NEAGATIVE effects that they force on our kids daily???? Even the schools are getting into this and are being used to drug our children.

You are over-thinking this. Of course that would fall in the penumbra of what is allowed. What is prohibited is discussion of illicit activity.

arrogant hypocrits.

Whoa! not even my knee jerks that violently. when you choose to participate in a 30 page thread, please read past page one before posting. A compromise has been proposed yet not settled on, and you've already been banned from participation in anything that results from the compromise. Way to go!

Ok. In light of this post, I say we vote now with 26 nimonees. I'll tally the votes in the morning.

Does anyone object to this?

Right now in America it's not legal to use as a sacrament. If you think that it should be, you would put it in the new forum. You're right, it's not recreational. But it's not medicinal, and right now it is illegal. So that would be the forum! (CavemanDD said just about the same thing and agreed that it was fair)

I personally think we should get the ball rolling on this ASAP. Why not vote now? Perhaps start a new thread in the appropriate forum and continue on from there.

Updated member compromise....

...dedicated forum akin to the Bully Pulpit
...strict moderation from a large group of Mods
...strict oath/rules to agree to before being allowed to participate
...2 strikes and you are out of dedicated forum
...certain drug topics allowed but nothing about illegal personal use or personal "pothead" stories
...no testimonials as that is basically equivalent to admitting to illegal activity in a lot of places and is already against established ATS T&C (might need to be evaluated with medical MJ only)
...forum threads not to appear on front page of ATS (meaning flags are disabled in that forum)
...Point entry fee required based on ATS posting history, not points gained from joining Twitter, contributing to tinWiki, etc.

This is compiled from what we have all contributed on this thread, and should give the members on the "committee list" something to work from when the members are voted in or picked by the staff.

It seems it is a vote!

and benevolent thinks we should do it tomorrow, and limit the list to thirty.

I think we have twenty eight as of right now.

I think a vote is fair.

So, haha math geek me... first, an admin should tally the votes. Also, we can just do the typical voting method and vote for 5 people each and the top 5 people get appointed. Or we can rank it and do plurality or borda method.

I have to say, im shocked but not suprised, i know the rules here and even tried to get clarification (and did to a small extent ) on why the rules are that way.

i understant many drug topics just turn into "ye dude, i love gettin high" posts, but not everyone is.

ATS goes under the banner "deny ignorance" yet denying ANY form of drug discussion is blatently denying a whole load of conspiricys from the contras to the cotton trade (and the biggest, legal pharmacuticals"

banning all drug topics is teh biggest hypocracy ever on ATS, and truely makes the banner "deny ignorance" a joke, as your promoting ignorance of many conrpiricys that in some form of another involve drugs or the drug trade.

is making a few extra bucks so much more important than truth?

i will still visit and post on ats, and tbh, i still feel the same on their drug topics as before, as even with the experiment they just deleted every drug post no matter what it involved,

surely their could be a compramice... could you not just make a forum which has none of the Add links, menbers only, that way these issues could be discused and not offend advertisers .... and i agree, none of the posts should be about peoples personal experiences getting high or ranting about someone they know personaly thats addicted, just actual conspiricys and facts.

ill talk no more on the subject .

edit ....dam this post was busy , i was replying to the last mod post and it looks like someone was thinking the same just before me!
