The truth is he's right if Obama isnt stoped he'll destroy this country. And it can all be summed up in one word HYPERINFLATION. Once China decides not to lend us any more money Obama will have to print more money to pay for these lofty spending crusades that he and congress are on. Once hyperinflation takes effect this country will become complete and absolute chaos.

Well, the board should not exist in the first place. The auto industry is failing due to MANY issues, not the least of which was the rise in fuel costs, and the structure of the contracts that the unions had created. Vehicle sales were actually propped up by the mortgage industry's over-inflation, so in essence, we have created thousands of jobs, with ridiculous contracts, that have no sustainability. Note that non-union shops do not have this problem.

So what should we do?
Allow these companies to fail, and their assets and workers gobbled up and used on other projects.
What projects you ask? The ones that will be introduced to fill the void left by the old one's demise!
Why is it that we (the average taxpayer) are expected to pay for the unions outrageous demands, while simultaneously bailing out their "bad decision" home loans, and paying for local infrastructure that they themselves have failed to maintain through local government action?

And Ann Rand was not a fascist, my friend. Just the fact that you would call her that tells me that you have never read her books, and are just blowing smoke. She was actually anti-communism and collectivism. The things she wrote about are happening now;
The fairness doctrine, bailouts for failing industries, and hypocrisy at the highest levels of government.

P.S. If I were to have an auto board, I would fill it with people who design and build cars, and people who have run successful companies. Not the group they picked.

funny, this thread is a small example of why nothing will change. people just cant agree on anything. i mean, at no fault to people, because there will always be the ignorant, who are the masses, who dont even have websites like this to inform themselves on. they pretty much go on to their day to day, and maybe get a little news when they do. i guess ignorance is bliss in a sense, because none of this stuff goes anywhere. people get a president and complain, as they rightfully can, because most politicians are trash anyways.

like, does anyone here sit back and ask themselves, why am i even on this board ranting and raving. for what reason am i doing it. i mean, your not changing anything. your really just merely entertaining your ego, playing the right wrong game. your not doing anything proactive. yes, pumping your fist at a rally is just a waste of energy. like david icke says, its like people screaming at a television screen for the channel to change. thats what these rallys and forums are. people screaming for change, and pumping up their ego to think they did something, and then going back home to their beer and meat products.

you may ask, well who are you to judge. im no one and somebody. im just saying, just like it took extreme measures to get into the mess we are in, in this country, and on a grander scale, worldwide. it would take just as extreme a measure for the people to change anything. anything else is merely a waste of your time, and nothing more than to pump your political ego. i wonder, if the conscious observer really has an effect on reality, how much further into a hole we go, by people just ranting and being frustrated, rather than doing something, and feeling good throughout the day.

i cant deny the fact that these discussions do help some get educated on things they knew nothing of, but in the long run, just like its a small few who go to extreme measures to maintain their power and control, it will not be millions who revolt, and make change, it will be also another small few, who will have to go to extreme measures to make change. what are those extreme measures, i dont know, and most people on an internet forum are not connected enough to know who to go after anyways, other than the goon politicians blasted on tv everyday. who are probably merely nothing but pawns, getting payed to take a beating.

Not really, it's nothing like a Marxist model. The real controllers of the auto industry aren't the shop floor workers, the union leaders or even "intellectuals". I've never said they were and have never thought that. I'm not sure why you're pointing this out in response to my comments. My views on 'bailouts' are that they're not socialist by any definition I understand. All they are doing is perpetuating a eco-political model that is anything but a Marxist one.

I wouln't say Obama bails out only corporate America[ as some say] i am afraid he tries to bail out what is beyond financially possible. Something like that which exactly happenend with the Soviet Union.Pumping and pumping money into a stateplanned economy and nowhere to be found back.Marx had good intentions, Gorbechev too and was actually guiet a nice guy, but look what he did with his own USSR. What happens with the Dollar in the coming years with this stimulus bill? with inflation so to speak, what happens with all the goods Americans need and import and becomes invaluable for Dollar earning Americans.?

Jimmy wasn't talking about the Internet as a whole. He talked about people on this board, who rant and rave about right and wrong, trying to change other people's minds. It's one thing to put information out there for others to read, but when the receiver says, "No, thanks", it's quite another thing to force the issue, argue their information and eventually start personally attacking those who don't agree. And I think that's what he's talking about. I could be wrong. But that's what I'm talking about.

And yes, there are some spectacular information, discussions and debates to be had here on ATS, but there's also the ego-stroking, as you said.

This goes to the point, actually, of my post at least. You and Alex could be as wrong as you think others are. And there's no way to know right now. Alex is putting the information out there for others to see, and that's cool. But to think that you're "awake" and others who disagree with you are "asleep" speaks to the ego thing I think jimmy was talking about.
