I pulled this off of the Raw Story website..

President Barack Obama on Monday enthused about his first restful weekend at Camp David in Maryland, proclaiming the wooded retreat "beautiful."

Obama, who is reportedly chafing at the confinement of the White House, said he and his family had a "great time" after helicoptering up to Camp David in the Catoctin mountains for an overnight stay on Saturday.

"It was beautiful," he told reporters during a trip to Elkhart, Indiana, as part of his campaign blitz to sell his massive economic stimulus plan.

"The girls just had a great time. They had a lot of fun. You can see that during the summer it's going to be a nice place to spend a lot of time. Hit a few golf balls. Played a little basketball."

Well sir, maybe you are right.
Hell, I think you are right as well, this isnt the time to be BStn around.
We are in trouble, and I am sorry tosay, but If I was the President right now, I wouldnt be out playing basketball or hitting golf balls at trees.
At the end of the election, when Obama won, I told myself that I would give him a chance, a chance to prove to me that he isnt everything Ithought that he was. To give him a chance to prove to the people that he meant buisness. So far, I am not seeing it.

lol, all the pressure of getting elected (don't forget that's been happening for over a year) plus the chaos of moving into a administration which was formally run by stupid criminals and the fact that the world is in turmoil at the moment of course he needs a break - who wouldn't?!?!?!?!

The guy works hard, he has lots to learn and understand plus all sorts of events to respond to so he needs his brain to be working well, plenty of rest and relaxation is just the ticket to get him on top form.

Did you see his press conference? He clearly knew all the issues rather well, had thought about the many issues involved and had talked to a lot of people since starting his new job - i for one am glad he's had a break and enjoyed some time with the family.

I know it's painful that after all these Bush years but the new guy is actually REALLYGOOD at being president, he hasn't been tested fully yet i'll agree but also he has yet to totally shame the nation
Your still smarting about the 'bibles and guns' comment aren't you, rusty?

hehe and just for the record didn't you say he got the helicopter to campD? That's not airforce one, its 'marine one' or something

Geee wizzzzz! Give the guy a break. He has basically been working non stop 24/7 for quite a while. I am glad to see him have a break for 1 weekend. God knows I look forward to a couple off days off once a week and my mind and body are better for it!

I would rather he be relaxed once in a while. He is human after all, and he may just avoid a heart attack or stroke from too much stress.

if i was puppet i mean president..

i'd want to check out the digs at camp david asap.

so he checked it out.

plus.. it's crappy winter weather.. so what.

and don't complain about him "not paying enough attention to the crisis" ..

come on...
it's all been planned and what's going to happen is going to happen no matter what...
by concerted effort... not by little theatrical stunts here and there peppered through the daily news of what you're supposed to think he's doing.

it's all a grand stage, brother.

understand this and you'll sleep better at night.

the cards have been set.

just relax and enjoy the ride.

Elkhart Indiana? Fort Meyers, Florida?
The next campaign has already started, and it's starting at taxpayer expense. What has happened to my country?

After only 21 days in office it's time for a weekend getaway at Camp David??

Thread Here

Heck, after just two weeks he went to a local elementary school, looking tired and bored, and told the kids he was there because, "I just had to get out of the White House for a while".

Obama has made a career of running for office. Even while IN office he was campaigning for the next slot. So now that he's actually working and not campaigning ... it's tiresome for the poor fella.

Take a look at the picture at that thread.
Just two weeks in office ... it says it all.

A month isn't 'quite a while' considering he has FOUR YEARS to go. And he asked for the job knowing full well how hard it is and what it does to people. The before and after pictures of presidents tell the story.

So no, I won't give the guy a break.

He has to get off the couch and get the job done.

SIDE NOTE - the TV press is reporting that Obama is late for everything. He comes in two hours late in the morning and he's late to nearly every meeting. Its' either arrogance, laziness, or lack of ability and understanding to get the job of POTUS done.

Also a point of interest...Why Elkhart, Indiana and Fort Meyers, Florida??

Elkhart, Indiana - The unemployment in this county has grown more than any other in the last year. From 5% to 15%.

"Elkhart is a place that's lost jobs faster than anywhere in America," the President said during his opening remarks to the nation. "In one year, the unemployment rate went from 4.7% to 15.3%.

Fort Meyers, Florida - One of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation.

In the past year, Lee County has come to lead the state in a host of troubling indicators: home-foreclosure rates (12.5 percent), the growth of Medicaid rolls (23 percent), food-stamp requests (up 65 percent) and the decrease in the median values of homes (38 percent.)

Source

Both counties are heavily Republican.

Sorry for bursting the bubble but our last president had more "days off" that many other presidents, While screwing the nation at the same time

It amazes me how short time memories people tend to have when it caters to their own propaganda.

Frankly the USA would still be the best country in the world if every single President spent 364 days a year at Camp David... gives them less time to pass useless laws.

Look it doesn't matter where the President is, as long as he is appraised of the situation and can think for himself. What is the presidents job really? Its just the most senior decision making job in the world... his geographical location doesn't matter.

If he finds the seclusion of Camp David refreshing, then wouldn't you rather have a refreshed President operating remotely rather than a tired one slumped at the oval office desk?

The man is supposed to be a General; and Generals don't sit in trenches.

All people need personal time, even rulers. Its integral to health, and without downtime no one can be expected to handle the problems of life, large or small, with any clarity of thought. We, as americans, have surpassed the japanese as the most overworked people in the world, and we seem to think this is ok, despite the fact that largely the majority of us are not sufficiently compensated for it. We take 40-80 hours a week, and now expect more from our pres...the person who needs to be healthy and whole to make the hard choices, and we expect good solutions.

Dont take this to mean that I approve of Obama's actions to this point...i dont by any means, i disapprove of almost every stance he has taken, from a totally zionist cabinet, to his stance on iran and russia, to the missile batteries in poland and yugoslavia, to his refusal to deal with hamas, to his bailout plan. But I cant deny the man his rest and recreation. All humans deserve it and need it, no matter what their post.

First of all, I have no idea who "Rusty" is but if that's your thing..OK.

Second, Mr. Obama is not "Really Good" at being President. He inherited a huge problem and he is being tested as we speak. In my opinion he has no clue what to do. Have you noticed that the guy cant get one single Republican on board?? That is not what I'd call someone who is "Really Good" at their job.

Third, Of course hr takes Marine One to Camp David. As the post that I wrote says, the "subsequent trip" in AF1. If that too big of a word for you..really I understand...your after all just Joe the Plumber after all...right?

It would be my guess that he's still smoking and most likely at camp david, he gets to smoke all he wants? Someone else in a thread long ago mentioned he smoked something else as well. Whatever that was, Bush seemed to have his addictions himself. All I know is that cigarettes make it hard to make decisions if you "need one"

Let me remind people here what is going on in "Washington right now".

See is many people in ATS that actually are keeping track of what congress, the president and the lobbyist pimps are doing behind the American people's back.

The house and the senate are in a stand still of will as we speak.

The subject two economical stimulus packages that has been redacted by Republicans in the House and Democrats in the Senate.

This two bills are very different and both are damaging to the nation.

The Republican version is ridden with Cuts, as usual the Taxes will be cut for the rich in their bill at the expenses of cuts on the nations needed programs.

Aside from the continued Republican infatuation with tax breaks for the wealthy – and the politicized frame of reference – we should be alarmed by the provisions being “cut” in order to appease Republicans. This country desperately needs funding for education, research, energy and infrastructure. All of these areas saw their funding slashed by the Senate. This country needs fewer tax cuts and fewer rebates to the top income earners; “trickle down” economics are a proven failure. These areas saw their funding increase in the new Senate version.

www.economyincrisis.org...

As usual even after losing the elections Republicans wants to cater to their wealthy pimps at the expenses of the tax payer in the nation.

But that doesn't end there, neither both bills shows how the nations job grow will be achieved.

So is not wonder The new president have to take a brake or lose its mind with all the recycle trash that roams the hall of congress call Democrats and Republicans.

I can't believe some people, they never had a real complaint about any president until now as far as using Camp David, playing golf or taking numerous vacations, some during national crisis like many other presidents before, now we get Barak Obama and the free time or hint at any leisure police come out, Camp David is a part of the presidency, it is not only for relaxation and to clear thoughts, it is also used for meetings and other activities that are used in an official capacity during crisis, IMHO find some real things of substance to write a thread about, I bet these are the same individuals that spammed us with birth certificate threads or with other irrelevant nonsense.

It seems to me that this trip is very ill timed and shows that he and his staff have no clue how to make him look like he is taikng this "crisis" seriously.

It shows me that he is only serious in front of the cameras and microphones.

Oh, please...
Do you really think that Camp David is some kind of Camp Runamuck where no work is ever done?

I'm going to guess that it has electricity, and that Obama has a briefcase, and maybe even a laptop. I'll just bet that he did a little work in transit both ways. I'm betting that he might have been thinking about the state of the nation while walking. He seems the walk and chew gum type...not like the last guy.

Nothing is going to get fixed if people cut him off at the knees at every opportunity for the sheer hope of being able to say "See...you were wrong to elect him!" I thought America was better than that.

Where did you read that it costs a million dollars to take a weekend trip to camp david?

They own it, all the people that work there are already on payroll, so that's a sunk cost, the food they would have eaten at the white house.

So, lodging, food, employees - sunk costs

Transportation = helicopter ride to and from the camp.

Prob cost in the range of 1-3 thousand dollars in gas.

The helicopter is owned, and the pilot is a full time staff member as well, 2 more sunk costs.

So again, where did you see that it cost a million dollars?

Ignorance is a plague.
