Resisting arrest...thats always funny. I saw her get slammed to the ground for no reason other than that douche spraying himself in the face. Now I'm not the brightest light but I know that you do have a right to protect yourself against anyone. What was she supposed to do take a beating anyway and not resist? Hell, if I'm going to jail, I am going for a good reason. I'll be darned if anyone roughs me up and don't get punched in the mouth.

Even with this video, she was charged? Holy shizzle! It takes more than a few people to turn their heads the other way and allow injustice like this take place. Truly scary.

As a side note, that little weasel sob cop has me enraged right now. What a little punk.

Having drugs on you IS illegal, but if the cop had followed the law, they would have never found the drugs.

Not that I am condoning drug use.

Had he stopped her because he saw her with coke, and KNEW it was on her, he still wouldnt have been justified in punching her in the head after she was cuffed. I am surprised they even got the drug charge to stick. If she had money and a good lawyer, I doubt they would have.

They probably didnt plant the drugs on her if she had coke in her system at a later date, but I am still against cops violating the 4th amendment.

en.wikipedia.org...

The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution ensures citizens' right to "be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures …" The amendment goes on to set forth the conditions under which a warrant may be issued: "no warrant shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." [1]

How in the world is riding your bike on a sidewalk "probable cause" to assume you are carrying drugs?

I expect the cops to follow the law.

The problem as I see it is in the officer's, whether in the USA or here in Australia, belief that they are beyond the laws they are meant to uphold.

I was walking along the footpath one day on my way to a bank, when I saw two young officers grab a minor (under 16 years old) and throw him against a parked civilian car, then use grappling techniques to subdue him. I stopped and said, "Excuse me officers, but what you are doing is brutality to a minor." They looked at me, placed a hand on their sidearm and ordered me to move on or I would be arrested for obstructing them in their duties.

Since we have move-on laws here I had to do as ordered, besides, my wife was becoming very upset at the thought of me being arrested also.

We have no rights. What rights we are supposed to have can be over-ridden by any officer, by simply touching and holding you on the arm or shoulder, which is notification of being arrested here in Australia whether verbally informed or not!

An officer did this to me once as I was again standing up for another person's rights in a public place, I spun around, pulled my arm away in a movement I learned from many years of martial arts. Every officer on the scene then stopped what they were doing as the officer who touched me went for his sidearm. I asked what charge was he arresting me on, he replied, "We'll think of one."

He then ordered me to leave the area immediately. I cheekily thanked him, "Thank you officer, I think I will take the advice of a Public Servant who's wages I pay with my taxes", then got the hell out of there before he changed his mind.

Cops here have been voice recording everyone here, illegally, for some time as they waited for the next round of powers that gave them the legal right to do so. They bought their own voice recorders, and so have I now.

In the end, the best thing is to keep your mouth shut, move along and take video with your phone if you can, then get moving.

"Police Service" as they were once called, had a legal name change here to "Police Force" some time ago to reflect a different reality. The legal understanding this provided is that they are now a force like our Military Forces, and as such have power over all civilians. This does not stop an individual officer from making poor decisions and acting like the officers in the video here.

In Victoria, the Police Force there have the highest incident of shooting to kill, instead of shooting to main and then arrest. They shoot someone holding a knife, they shoot anyone who does not respond and seems to be threatening, whether they are threatening or not. I've even seen them using a police car to knock a guy off his motorcycle, which of course killed the guy. I've seen them run their patrol car into and over a guy who was threatening to stab himself over some family court dispute!

Here in Queensland, our cops now dress like their Californian counterparts in leather jackets, dark sunnies, etc. They are constantly abusing their power as representatives of law enforcement in my country, and they are constantly supplied with even more powers. They do not need a search warrant anymore to enter your home, they only have to have a "suspicion of illegal activity" to come in, turn your place upside down and then leave if they find nothing.

I now keep to myself, do nothing to bring attention to myself, speak nicely when pulled over for random breath testing.. they refuse to believe I am a non-drinker... and always be polite. I have to, I am getting too old to fight them off anymore, and I have teenage kids who I must be home for everday rather than be held for 7 days on trumped up charges.

There is no answer to this problem other than to insure you do not have to deal with them, and when you do, play it cool, follow their orders and do not even attempt to speak against them.

That cop and the others who assisted his brutal assault and malicious false arrest of that female citizen are the criminals in this incident. She immediately moved her bike off the sidewalk when he told her to. That any jury or judge could convict her of a crime under these circumstances is a tragedy which shows how how so many Americans have become little more than unthinking ass lickers of those those holding positions of authority.

These cops should all be fired and sent to the unemployment line as quickly as possible, prosecuted for felony assault, and sued for civil damages together with their department and city. These are not "police officers". They may wear the blue uniform, but they are not "officers of the law". They're criminals and ought to be treated as such.

What a gaggle of moronic thugs these cops are. Those of you defend their behavior are just as offensive and un-American as they are.

We must get rid of the criminal thugs disguised in blue uniforms so that our police departments can hire people with intelligence, integrity, and proper respect for the people they supposedly serve who, by the way, pay their salary. Cops who think they are just an arm of the City's, County's, or State's finance departments need to go as well.

I don't care what this woman had in her pocket or back pack. He is only using it as an after-the-crime justification for his criminal behavior. He had no right to interact with her that way. He violated her rights as a U.S. Citizen. He and his employers should be held to account.

I was thinking the same thing.

If anyone wants to write an email to the Mayor of Millville, you can get his email address conveniently here;

www.hollycity.com...

Express your outrage, or, those of you with more fascist leanings, apply for a job.

Tayesin,
Sorry to hear that. That's outrageous and frightening. Sounds like the police in your area are a gang of lawless thugs. When the police become criminals, only criminals are safe.

Ever watch an episode of cops? You will see people yelling these things out as they try and get away, hit the cop, run over a baby with their car and as they are kicking and spitting on the person arresting them after they just shot somebody.

Should the cop have puncher her in the face? nope. Is it complete BS how people are in here labeling all cops thugs with badges? Hell yes it is. In fact its pretty damn sickening and I hope anyone in here bashing all cops because of this bad apple never calls then or needs their help. Their is a reason so many cops end up cracking up and doing stuff like this, its called stress from the messed up society we live in.

I would love anyone who thinks otherwise to call their local sheriffs office and see if they can do a ride along with an officer. And then ask yourself if you would or could do the same job and make about 26-30k a year with lots of overtime and the possibility every day you could be shot by some thug or sued.

What punk cops, hit the woman while the two held her down, and they probabily planted the drugs on her to try and cover there ass.

Five cops jumped me once for a $25.00 traffic ticket my boss was suppose to pay and didn't.
They choked me till blood came out of my mouth, I did not resist, if had they would have shot me I'm sure.
Only thing was people were watching and someone called the court and told the Judge what they did to me, the judge bitched out the cops and call the prosecuter a punk.
I had a attorney but his Brother was kiled in auto accident, and he didn't show up, they wouldn't drop charges they were afraid I would sue.
I should have sued anyhow but lived in the city and the thugs would have got me one way or another, so I thought at time.

if you listened to the audio you would have your answer.

why should the cop leave a person who is breaking the law, alone? all you do is say "yes, officer" and so on. what does resisting accomplish?

I'm confused. I don't understand why any of you think the police are on your side. in this modern time they exist to keep the powerful in power and generate revenue. Why do you think there are so damned many of them and they mostly dress like paramilitary. I understand a lot of vets become cops and I really don't blame them. But the police are not meant to be commandos or special forces against the civilians. Maybe she deserved it, but how about a simple warning for the super evil crime of riding a bike in the wrong location. So why do cops pick on the easy targets and not do their job and arrest oh say drug dealers and gang members? I guess its too dangerous to do?

Maybe its because they have found better things to do with drug dealers.

When I was 16 I worked at gas station after school, this cop hung out there I was just kid doing my job.
This cop would come in the station and shoot his gun at a 55 gallon drum, and say it was me, the drunk pig.
That's when I lost respect for cops, most are the biggest crooks, they just never got caught.
I still have the upmost respect for the few good cops, but they are few and far between.

The Second Amendment was included in the United States Constitution to ensure that all people could protect themselves whenever their Life, Liberty, or Property were in jeopardy of being stolen; by anyone.

If they can't handle their job, maybe they should find a new line of work, that's what's wrong with the justice system, if judge or cops has bad day, his wife don't give him any and bicths at him , you don't take it out on the people you suppose to be protecting.

www.msnbc.msn.com...

Stevenson was eventually led away by officers and put into a police cruiser. She was later convicted of resisting arrest.

She WAS CONVICTED!!!
How can you be resisting arrest, for riding a bike on a freaking sidewalk???
To be resisting arrest, the arrest has to be lawful in the first place.
This wasn't a lawful arrest. If the cop was giving her a ticket, and she punched him, then of course she can be arrested.
But you don't drive up to someone riding a bike on a sidewalk and throw them on the ground handcuff and arrest them just for RIDING THE DAMN BIKE ON THE SIDEWALK!!
That is unlawful. Then he goes up, after she is handcuffed and starts punching her in the head?
No wonder he got fired.

Drogo resigned from the police department in October for undisclosed reasons.

Yeah, you mean he got a choice, leave now on good terms, or be THROWN OUT!
The piece of crap still lies in his statement, after everyone watches the video of it.
I think he would have had to have been, the worlds worst cop.

In a City by where I live this guy applied to be a Police officer, they told him he had to high of a IQ to be police officer. But I think he could have been a Daaatective.

If you check out history, the cops were crooks from get go, they taking bribes even before becoming cops from shop keepers to get dough to become cop those Irish Cops in NY, and I'm Irish to so.
And the reason they call them cops is because of the little copper badge they wore, hand made. Chesse it Wille here comes the coppers.

I can't wait till the computers become aware and we have robot cops at least you will know where you stand, Death to all humans, and when last human is locked up or killed, no more crime.
