Then again, maybe it's all a matter of opinion. I thought those two threads were a lot closer to actually being "breaking alternative news" than 90% of what gets posted in there.

Yeah i can see how that is. But it is hard to find alternative news anywhere on the net that comes from a sources you can trust. I have been comming to ATS for years now because i could get alternatve news in the existing boards that were there sorted by topic. If i wanted to see if anything big was going on with UFOs i would go to the UFO board and get that news.
I may be wrong but i thought it used to be "ATS:The truth is in here" but i guess things got so bad they had to change it to deny ignorance just to counter the fact that it went downhill so fast. ATS is running into the same problem Wiki ran into. The trolls and whack-jobs became the authority and people with somthing positive to say were now labeled the trolls. You can post about the 2012 dream you had in which you were flying in a turtle and met the aliens from the past in your mind and get a great response. On the otherhand you can do a great ammount of research into the 2012 subject and form your own theory on how its nothing to worry about then you would be the closed minded fool who will be sorry on dec 2012.

Actually, I reckon it would be a good idea to change the motto. "Deny Ignorance" comes off sounding condescending and pretentious at the same time, and a lot of posters go out of their way to say that they're denying ignorance all the time. That gets annoying really fast.

yeah it is. People just throw the motto around now. Instead of calling people dumb they just say "hey we are supposed to deny ignorance here" But on a board that says NWO has ruled the world forever and will end in 2012 the reptilians are taking over and the illuminati is watching me, here is a picture of a bird that looks like a ufo if you squint, FEMA PRISONS EVERYWHERE (anyone got a pic or proof?) and now im going to quote zeitguist and wikipedia to look smarter than you. Its hard to deny ignorance in a place where it is worshiped.

This is an unavoidable side effect of ATS being a public forum, and being mostly uncensored.

ATS is sort of like shopping at the thrift store. You have to pick through a lot of junk to find the good stuff, but when you do it's really worth it.

Yeah, ridiculous posts get a lot of knee-jerk response, but trust me, intelligent, well-thought-out and well-researched posts WILL be noticed by the people who count.

Putting links to your own threads in your signature helps, too.

We really do have to drop the Deny ignorance motto.
How about;

Opinions Are Free, Experiences Are Sacred!

It sums up ATS. You can freely have your say and, if you have any, put forward and debate your personal views and experiences.

The problem is, there IS so much ignorance.

You can't deny it!

You can play. Isn't that a rather large new motto suggestion?

And I haven't seen much universal expansion here on ATS. In fact, just to find some good expansive people/posts, I have to wade though endless fields of bs, to find an occasional luminous insight. And to post, I sadly have to dumb down the soul-spirit by a factor of
near-Infinity.

So, I think you might come up with something more honest for describing ATS.

I know my suggestion, "Death Before Truth," isn't acceptable. Too real lifelike.
The Truth Hurts.

Which part?
The text, or the Universe?
You might be right though. It sounds more like an Ad, rather than a motto.
So how about.

Hey, that is the Truth, what I can perceive, but not too catchy!

Both, to your other question...

personally i like the ats motto, but if it had to change it would obviously have to be one of two things:

COOOOBRBBRAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

or

chuck norris can divide by zero.

anything else would be inaccurate.

That is an interesting observation. Ever notice how many graphics appear in threads where posted words once were .
