Why not adopt??
Having kids seems like a selfish decision in my opinion.

star for you!

our world is built on self gratification.

Forcing other people to murder their children because you don't think they should be here seems selfish to me.

Apparently, global warming is serious enough that we need to start killing more unborn children.

These people make me sick. "

You know what makes me REALLY sick... women who crap out countless kids with no way to feed/clothe/take care of them.

oh that's right, you would rather reward stupidity with welfare and food stamps.

Actually I wouldn't, since I'm completely against both.

Apparently you know me though, so you should have known that.

I'd say that this statement was made in a HUGE vacuum.

I'm more concerned about the fact that the birth rate of Western Civ is seriously on the decline.

We need many more babies produced... not less.

Come on now folks... the more people we have, the more resources we have, the more "heads" to put together...

And the more kids to work the land if society completely breaks down.

no one is FORCING murder..

though, I think your funny.. you would rather the child live and slowly starve to death then be "removed" when its a pile o goo.
you are one cruel person.. then again, your a conservative.. they are usually the most cruel.

For those who have not heard of Jonathon Porritt, here is a wiki link

I'm sure that people will find his bibliography interesting, especially as he hails from the cloistered halls of academe and the "upper" class, and has spent little time in the "real" world.

In other words, he looks at these things from a simplistic academic viewpoint without considering the real world effects that his "cures" would have.

In fact it seems as though he views his fellow humans in much the same way as he would view something grown in a petrie dish.

so cities/towns around the world are running out of clean water and food.. running out of space for living/growing...and your big brain storm is to have a larger population? have more kids..

yikes!

I've had two wives, two falied marriages and two families. As to how many kids are biologically mine, I'm not certain.
As for green gurus, I think it's sad how many kids are living in foster care for whatever reasons and many in worse shape now than before. The mortality rates in poor countries is also confusing. Didn't India impose some mandatory controls and sterilizations many years ago?

Population control and yet having been supporting with food in allegedly poor starving countries is really confusing when these populations don't control either. Now they expect people who could actually afford to support their own children to still support those who haven't been for a very long time?

I'm lazy and never read the article but I think about our overpopulated world quite often when some couple says they are having a baby.
I think it is selfish...why not adopt instead??

so after making countless kids in which you don't seem to keep track of, your argument is "they aren't doing it, why should we".

thanks, your the epitome of what im talking about.

Right, the stupid people who think they have a right to have a family as they see fit.

Not the stupid people who feel they can control peoples personal lives in favor of some phony global warming scam.

see, once again, self gratification.
a family as they see fit.. that's right, they should totally be allowed to have 8 kids all with different dads and live on welfare..

I think it's time people grew a pair and had a discussion about this.. it's time for people to be responsible for their actions and family... this isn't the 50's.

"Not the stupid people who feel they can control peoples personal lives in favor of some phony global warming scam. "

Look, global warming or not (and I don't by this thing from a global warming stand point, but a general one), people AREN'T making smart choices.. and yeah, there is a time when someone has to say "stop crapping out kids you freak.".

funny how people whine about being told what to do.. I find it even funnier that they have to be told in the first place.
the government should have the right to "pull the plug" on your baby making ways as it is a strain on ALL OF US.

I can't stress enough on how tired I am having to pay for/listen to other people jerk ass kids.

We should be using all of the current technology to create all test tube babies until further notice! Birth should not be happenstance.

We have the ability to weed out disease and mental illness. Life should be created through Science and not through chance.

If a couple chooses to become a parent, there should be safty measures in place to protect the unborn fetus from genetic mutations and a life of pitiful misfortune and deformity, retardations.

When the parents make a conscious choice, one that stems not from a biological ego gratification, but rather from a position of fundamental responsibility, then and only then should they be allowed to become parents.

To even say two, is really stretching the real issue and simply compromising what he truly meant which is that even one is far too many in most cases.

Unless you are prepared to become the parent of the new man, than the issue of simply having one or twenty children is nonsense, a waste of time to even consider. Most doctors know that the majority of babies being born are simply cannon fodder for the sleeping consciousness, of the war mentality.

While I think he's jumping the gun a bit, I could honestly envision this happening sometime in the next hundred years.

I do think that people need to be more responsible when it comes to having children. Like that money hungry woman with fourteen kids now. She had too many with six, going by the way her life was before IVF the second time around. Just because you can have kids, doesn't mean you should pop out ten.

I'm not saying abortion is the answer though. I may be pro-choice, but abortion should be the very last resort. The last thing this country needs, is people acting as though it's another form of birth control.

This global warming thing, it's just too little too late. With the way things are going, I can't imagine that too much will change if the governments did pass a law like this. Recources, would be a different thing, but GW?

I think it's more important to have a two parent limit.

A mother AND father (together) will provide less of a burden on the environment regardless of how many children they have.

Two single parents means more homes, more cars, more everything...
