This nurse didn't even pray; she *offered* to pray. A simple offer, which the patient declined.
Western society has become incredibly ready to be offended by any mention of religion. And yet the vast majority of people in the world hold to some
form of religion, and even those without religion often believe in a higher power. Can we all agree to tolerate, nay, *respect* the beliefs of others?
If we cannot, this experiment of free speech and freedom of religion will prove to be a failure.
I am a Christian nurse. I don't make a habit of offering to pray for people, but I don't become a robot when I enter the door of my agency. I
can't imagine taking offense at an offer of prayer from anyone, of any faith. There are many nurses who believe in alternative medicine --
meditation, reflexology, homeopathic treatments, etc. Some consider prayer to be a medicine. To offer this kind of care is just human kindness,
nothing more.
