I forgot, it was only ok for MSNBC and CNN to hate george bush because he is a republican, but for a PRIVATE citizen to criticize Obama, it must be squashed. dissent is not allowed in a democrat controlled congress/president. It was ok for MSNBC and CNN to attack a private citizen like joe the plumber, but ignore Joe Biden calling Justice John Roberts an idiot because he messed up a line in the inauguration.. because joe biden has never messed up or made idiotic remarks in his life. So these rules only apply to republicans, thank you first amendment. i dont care how many pills limbaugh popped, he can express his opinion just like anyone else, just because he wont bow down and pray for Obama messiah Christ does not mean he cannot speak.

Yeah, God forbid a citizen, albeit a very well known one, be allowed to voice his opinion - even if it isn't popular.

So what if Rush said that?! Really, does it matter? Because I dont even like Obama, but Rush's words mean nothing to me.

Will it affect Obama's job performance? Is it really in our country's best interest to shut someone up because we dont like what they say?

The Dems (or anyone) calling for this need to clean their own house before calling for maids to clean Rush's house.

Of course I don't agree with Limbaugh's recent remarks, but unless he calls for violence against Obama he should be able to say whatever he wants.

Yeah, I can't stand Rush but this petition is absurd and why pick a fight with a bully?.

Obama ought to act as quickly to quash the petition as he acted to nix the new $50 million Citi corporate jet. Both are really bad PR.

The Dems really need to show that they learned something the past eight years and put these types of partisan antics to rest.

All I can say is... Oh for Christ's sake! What a bunch of cry babies! Whoever is driving this thing needs to get out more! Shame on them! I'm not a Democrat, but how embarrassing for Obama supporters everywhere! And the worst of it is that it just gives that pig, Limbaugh, more publicity. He's LOVING this!

Oh, puke. Shut up, DCCC!

Well, that is a good point! It does give him more of a platform. Now Rush will just open his mouth more in order to fight them. So instead of quieting him, they just gave him a megaphone!

This current congress, along with the previous one, is the most inept, do nothing, un qualified, and corrupt congress that we have ever have…and both are controlled by liberals.

With the economy in shambles, jobs being lost at record pace, people losing homes, cars, everything, this batch of criminals feels that it is important to focus on condemning a private citizen for his Constitutionally guaranteed opinion. It proves that modern libs really don’t believe in First Amendment right…unless it is their rights of course.

I do not agree with this one bit. This the first steps in reviving the 'Fairness Doctrine'.

BUT, there are examples of people being silenced here as well, for people not liking what is being said. You cannot deny that.

This nonsense is just a bunch of Sabre rattling by a political party that is doing everything it can to deflect attention. It is the same whining the Republicans moaned out in the late 90's about the news channels being "too liberal".
What needs to be remembered is that Rush Limbaugh and the "dittoheads" are still arguing for the same people who screwed this country up so bad it will take years to recover from! If President Obama has a chance to fix some of this, its going to take more than a "can-do" attitude and a bunch of band-aids placed over the real problems that affect this country.

This has nothing to do with the First Amendment!

They're not trying to legally make him shut up. They are expressing THEIR opinions of him. That's THEIR right, too, ya know, even if we don't agree with what they're doing.

I know I was dramatic, but let's not over-dramatize this by claiming First Amendment right issues...

I agree with what you say. I am now a registered Democrat and this kind of stuff is petty and frankly embarrassing. Every party has it's busy bodies that get distracted by some new crusade every now and then.

Freedom of speech is not on the table for bargaining. Even if you don't agree with what someone is saying you can learn what they are thinking about and maybe even find things you can agree with.

I switched from Green-Independant because the Greens are meaningless and hopelessly distracted by utopian dreams. By registering as a DEM I got to vote for a better representative in a local primary.

Third and more parties are on their way - no doubt about it.

I don`t believe this is meant only for Rush by himself, but for all talk radio hosts like Rush. This is meant to scare anyone who talks out about the way our political system is ruining our country and the people who live here. The Dems. tried a talk show like this, but it fell on it`s face, so, to stop the other side from voicing their opinions they do this.

I look at it like this. We as a people tried to voice our opinion about the first bailout package by calling and e-mailing our reps., and what happened? Our opinions didn`t mean a thing did they? Our reps. looked the other way and did what they wanted to, and the excuss was it was for our own good that they passed it. Now look at how great the first bailout ended up being. Now they say the new package will do the job. Oh yea? Really? They said the same thing about the first one, now didn`t they? And now we are to believe them about this one. I say, how many times are we suppose to stand around and believe the lies we are told? We are treated as though we are not able to think for ourselves when it comes to what is best for this country, and that they are the only ones who can.

It`s like the fox telling the farmer that the farmer is not the one best qualified to guard the henhouse, but only the fox can do that job. So here we are, a country of farmers letting the fox raid the henhouse, and we are to just look the other way and not say a word to the fox. And if we do, the fox will get a petition up to shut the farmer up if he continues to speak out against him. I say to the fox, grow up, if you can`t take the heat, then leave. Stop ruining my childrens and grandchildrens futures. THEY are the ones who will pay for this in the end, not us today, but they will in the future.

Aren't these the same Democrats that are accusing Bush of crime, yet did nothing when said crimes were committed? The criticism of Obama has just begun. The Democrats better get many more petition drives ready.

Nothing new here...the Clitons tried the same thing with "the vast right wing conspiricy" crap....Rush is, for the most part, a disconnected fool, but his audience are among same folks that listen to Glen Beck, Michael Savage, Neil Boortz, Sean Hannity...etc....and the idea is that they (demacorps) can bring back the Fairness Doctrine
to stifle any dissenting opinion on the airways...

Once again they think they (Demacorps) have a popular mandate to control our lives for our own protection, and once again this will ultimately backfire...

Hellllllooooooo Fairness Doctrine!

This is so pathetically lame. No wonder these people have the lowest approval rating in the history of the country. God forbid they actually do something meaningful and helpful for the good of the country. Instead they focus on petty grade school things like this. Yes Rush may be a bumbling idiot, but for them to spend time on this?

Add one more straw to that camels back....

While you are right, they are not trying to make him legally shut up, it is still a First Amendment issue. They are using their office and position to intimidate a private citizen who expressed an opinion they do not like.

Can you tell me what Rush said? In context?

He hopes BHO fails....

In context......He hopes BHO fails if he tries to pass thru socialist programs because they will be worse off for the country.

Sorry, his opinion, (and mine) not anti American................

As stated, the democrap pettiition is an intimidation scheme.

I love Rush! He is honest, frank and doesn't dance around any topic like the media does. He doesn't stand for any party, but the conservative party and puts down dems and reps the same when they are unconstitutional. I heard about him when media were complaining of him and decided to listen for myself. HE ACTUALLY RELATES THE NEWS. My gosh, I have been swallowing this propaganda for years from the democratic bought out media and never heard another side of a story until I listened to him.

Thank you Rush, you have my vote for President in 2012
