After seeing imagery that shows what the size of the blast radius would be it really boggles the mind how catastrophic this would really be.
We could only hope that the mountains around the blast would offer some protection from the initial blast, however it would do nothing against the fall out that would follow.
Poisonous rain and nuclear winter just to name a couple.
This would be just as bad, if not worse, than a huge meteor strike and would definitely cause a worldwide disaster.
btw MischeviousElf, whats the deal? making posts using all caps telling people to STOP making threads, you have no right to tell anyone what to post where. There is no rule here that states that all earthquake activity has to be posted in the "Earthquake watch 2009" thread or whatever.
The guy posted relevant and new information that he found, as long as its not duplicated, there isnt a problem.

Recent seismic activity, increasing since November, I believe, all around the world, probably. And plates that may be on the move. Well, it appears that the Russians reported to the world in November that TPTB used 9 underwater nukes in a very key spot. Right where the true magnetic north left Canadian waters in the Arctic Sea, where the earth's core is buldging closer to the crust:

educate-yourself.org...

and

www.dailypaul.com...

I can only imagine all of the terrible consequences from this not-so natural act.

December reported a huge hole in our magnetic shield over the north pole, there is also punctures in the crust, so oil is leaking in the ocean there.

If all the volcanoes go we might as well as be hit by a big astroid, the nuclear winter will be severe.

Crustal displacement?

Tidal waves?

I don't see this as an act of God, but the bildenburg group, its massive plans to depopulate and fascism.

Wow if that's true that would really screw with the balance of the plates...first I've heard of this...guess that's why the site is called what it is huh?

MMm I disagree... posting lots of eq's should obviously be in the Quake Watch Thread.

Thats the purpose of the thread. Has been for years. To collate all the current seismic activity in one thread for discussion about them and for ease of debate, research and comparison.

There was a very real chance he was not aware of the quake watch thread, its confusing for new members, and new visitors to the site.

The OP's Contribution was then followed by the said fine poster, which then within the next few days would be copied by many members not aware of the quake watch thread.

I feel it is right to say anyone visiting ATS or researching within it to include members old and new alike would use the search term "quake" or such like for looking at the current world wide eq activity.

As thousands of threads have this in the keyword search, this thread would probably be missed anyway, and as there is no such term in the OP's header wouldnt show up in a title search anyhow.

I am sure posters who spend time contributing to ATS would like their contributions to be easily found on the topic they post on?

I am also sure they would like the contribution of an historical perspective, and an easier to use site than wasting their time posting information that probably would be posted elsewhere.

In addition if this is really for the effects of quakes globally and their interdependance on the Yellowstone region surely they should go into one of the many current Yellowstone threads and be discussed and viewed by members who have done much research already on this topic.

It wastes much server space and by the very nature of the The Quake Watch thread it is highly likely if it was not mentioned data would obviously be duplicated very quickly, wasting the valuable time of the fine contributor.

Otherwise ATS would be a mine field of millions of threads all showing the same information and just a data storage site, with no historically researchable and relevant flows of discussion on the topic and information.

Would certainly turn me off the site.

Having said that CAPS removed.

Kind Regards,

Elf

Good post, certainly gives a person something to think about.
The idea of something like this being purposely initiated population control would definitely be hard for most people to wrap their minds around but it really isnt that far fetched.
To me population control doesnt necessarily mean genocide, it means controlling the populace, controlling their lives by taking away their freedoms and only allowing some people the opportunity to live freely and controlling peoples chance of success.
Doing this could eliminate business competition before it even has a chance to become a problem.

Well its your right to disagree, as it is my right to disagree.
Although it may make it easier for a person to search for a specific topic, there is nothing in the rules that says thats the way it has to be done and since that is the case, you have no right to tell a person to that any and all information about a particular occurrence must be posted in a pre-existing thread.
I can tell you were probably just trying to be helpful but all you had to do was say something like this..
"Hey OP, great information, however theres this thread over here===>>> where weve compiled all the earthquake information that weve found, go check it out and you can also contribute your info there as well"
Doesnt that sound so much better than "hey, theres already a thread made that will cover every earthquake in 2009, so stop making your own threads, you must put all information there!?"

That would be no different than making a thread titled "UFO WATCH 2009" or "WAR 2009" and requiring each and every reference to those topics be put in that one thread.
A person cant monopolize the discussion of an entire topic on this board.

For what its worth though, i did check out the Earthquake watch thread and it is a great thread with a wealth of information, I appreciate you bringing it to my attention

wow, thanks. it kinda fits the theory that there's something under cali and yellowstone boiling

wow, i was surprised when i looked at the map to see how hot was it near that indonesia region, and in other places where there are earthquakes, and there's no heat there. in fact, that's the only hot place in the world like that!. and that is whats pushing the plates. dinner's cooking.

if you look at the key the dark orange dots are temps above boiling +133 f. ... now that is surface temp.... something deep underground is making the water at the surface boil...

What a shame since this thread was supposed to be about more than just quakes. I was hoping to see posts in here about the other events that are happening.

I was surprised two weeks ago when I saw that there was a volcano in Antartica that was erupting. Was hoping people would post about that, but I guess earthquakes are it...bleh

Since you brought up the subject of volcanoes, something that made me curious, anybody think that this. could have anything to do with all the quakes in Indonesia. See quake image here for the same location.
Those rings on the google map image were posted earlier in another thread on ATS, to me theres obviously some kind of under water disturbance, now all these recent quakes. Coincidence? I don't thinks so whats your thoughts?

Did the other thread say what causes that sort of effect? Definately interesting; now I want to see if I can find some of those. Thing is, the maps aren't in real time are they?

well, other events that ive noticed over this time is lots of volcanoes going orange and landslides, multiple landslides, also, today, the earthquakes seem to follow the same pattern that i suggested the other day. they decrease in quantity but really increase in strength. all we have today is a 7.5! in russia and a few 5's. after a week of increasing 4's. hmm something to think about? also, giant waves like a mofo

who me, this is interesting. so the satellite took a picture of it while it was shaking like that. its kinda like a pimple i guess on the face of the earth ready to burst soon. so... earthquakes all in the 4.5's now all around the world. all ive seen over the past 2 weeks is increasing in strength of the earthquakes... lets see if they follow the pattern for the next month or two maybe then we'll be able to draw some conclusions. im also still watching the yellowstone thread. interesting. im no seismologist but for what ive been researching, the activity at yellowstone has only been increasing in last years. the caldera has risen 3" a yr for the past coupla years. doesnt look good. did ya'll know that they gonna have yellowstone mentioned in that new movie '2012' ?
