I don´t know if you´ve noticed but the whole worlds media is reporting about the war in Gaza!

But what is going on in the Gulf of Aden???!!!

India, Russia, Pakistan, USA, China, Iran, Malaysia, Australia, New Zeeland, EU (French,British, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, German and more) have sent a massive fleet Which in size haven´t been seen since WW2 including Destroyers and aircraft carriers!
Maritime Security Operations (MSO) as part of Combined Task Force 150. Coalition forces conduct MSO under international maritime conventions to ensure security and safety in international waters so that all commercial shipping can operate freely while transiting the region. en.wikipedia.org...

True the media we are told that Naval ships are sent there to stop Somali pirates?

Who come in small rubber boats?
To be fought off with several aircraft carriers, destroyers, Nuclear submarines, frigates, missile cruisers and minesweepers?

What are the minesweepers gonna do? Collect rubber debrise?!!

The USN 5th fleet have 5 aircraft carriers in the area!
Somalian pirates in rubber boats? Against 300+ fighter jets?!!

Sworn enemys join together in one of the biggest Naval operations in history!!!

Seriously?

We are treatened to see war between India & Pakistan/ USA vs Iran and China are sending MORE naval ships to the region as we speek! China haven´t been out of their own territory since 1979???

There´s definately something strange going on here!

You could be right, or it could just be that those countries understand the value of they're traded goods. They don't have any juristiction in Somalia, so after a ship is captured they can do nothing but wait and wait and wait.

i do agree it is odd that there would be so many different types of military craft and nations gathering in that one small part of the ocean.

Hopefully somebody here on ATS has been researching this and will enlighten us!

This reminds me of the sorchafal report on it being an operation to do battle with underwater uso's.

I read about it here on ATS an hour or two ago.

I will definetly check that out, i hadn't heard of the underwater battles as of yet, sounds interesting.

Hi. I actually "tried" to start a thread on the above subject, but was kindly informed that the article originated by the Sorcha person. I appreciate that they were gentle with me
But seriously, this does seem rather odd. I'm trying to search to see what I can find out about it. Seems there would be more media coverage on what's going on with that situation - yeh right.

I´ve found very little info about anything else than the piratestory.
What drew my attention was when it came to my knowledge that both Indian and Pakistani Naval ships were laying side by side...

And the other day when Iran sent a naval vessle?

That felt like sending a mouse to a catfarm and discover that they actually were friendly to oneanother...

When I also searched the amount of naval activity I was totally stunned!

It´s not hard to find out the size of the Combined taskforce 150 if you only search a little and do your maths.

I'm interested as well. My son-in-law was scheduled for a Jan. 5th Afghanistan deployment, but just recently was redirected to the Gulf of Aden. I keep hearing Sorcha is a hoaxer, but it seems some of her stuff isn't that far out the ball park.

What are the minesweepers gonna do?

Minesweepers are one of the best ships for this type of action they have a low fantail that makes it easy to pull along side a small ship and board them they are highly maneuverable and armed with guns big enough to take on any of these pirate boats.

That is the reason off Vietnam minesweepers were used in operation market time.

This of course explains why a certain kind of boat type is in the area but it doesn´t explain Destroyers, missile cruisers and submarinehunters f ex

I have kept my eyes in Gulf of Aden, but there is total black out from situation after China went in... France catch some "rubbermans", but nothing special...

Difficult to find any info, or even some speculative analysis from tactics, strategy. I havent found any possible conspiracy theory either, or Top Secret Goals behind events over there.

But official "War on Pirates" is so strange... Like Mickey Mouse, Hollywood Stuff.

5 US Carriers over there? Really? - I had info from 3...

the last few bits of news i heard concered the uk sending a specialist detachment aboard a uk sub to the area. with those involved the lack of media interest will suit them down to the ground. this situation involves every country that trades goods along this route. as for terrorist in little rubber dinghys not being a threat to shipping imagine this . your first officer on watch on a super tanker laden with thosands of gallons of oil. suddenly you are approached by 30ft boats capable of 30kts +to fast to out run,the crews are armed with rpg's and ak 47's. a couple of rounds from an rpg would detroy the cargo and ship and endanger the crew . try to stop them boarding hhmm bottles filled with sand and high pressure hoses against ak's?why risk the crew!let them board and get ransomed its the only course of action . the pirates know exactly what there doing , they are well rehearsed, well motivated and well equipped and they are a major threat to commerce. if they destroyed a super tanker what would the financial and ecological outcome be?

amazing how smoothly international co-operation runs when the main goal involved in an action is the continued ability to trade and make money.

If something like this were to be true, it's not the pirates that would be interested in it - the world governments definitely would be. And no I did not miss any bus.

This is a most peculiar scene, i's nice to see us all working together for a change instead of blowing each other to hell.

Why so many ships? Trade is important but goddamn! This has to be about more than just Somalian pirates, I'm off to do some digging.

@Mr. Foster - thank you. I agree with you and the OP. It's important that something is done about the piracy but something doesn't feel right about this - look at the cast of characters. Time will tell.

Obviously you don’t know much about sea search and rescue. The reason that they need so many craft is because the craft they are hunting for are small zodiacs in a huge ocean. To effectively find craft that size requires air support, air support requires an aircraft carrier, and aircraft carriers require a defensive and logistical support screen. They never send an aircraft carrier anywhere that it does not have a full fleet to support and protect it.
