OK with so many false alarms on this subject, I am posting this in WAR until this pans out.

In the recent Al-Qaeda release by Ubay Mus'ab Alzrqawy, he uses this staement: "To my dear nation - the best nation ever sent to mankind". "MY", is he taking over as head of Al-Qaeda? According to Zarqawi in a statement made to Arab press, he is quoted as saying:
"The militant sheik, the Lion of Allah, is Osama bin Laden." They only use this terminology,
"the Lion of Allah" as it corresponds to deceased Islamic warriors. The dilect he has been using points towards the death of OBL, or at least his 'Fake' Death.

The last time we heard from OBL was back in December, but some reports claim that the tape was part 2 of a prviously released tape. I am still being told that he is in US custody, he was captured in Iran on Jan. 16th.

If this is indeed true, then Bush better act fast.

This whole Iraq invasion is blowing up in his face, their are reports of people leaving The DOHD for Bush's handling on The War on Terror, by being pre-occupied with Iraq. According to these people he only listens to Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfield on The War on Terror.....

With the latest insurgency in Iraq, my bets on some sort of civil uprising in the US or out of hand protests, whatever you want to call it, are on. The Iraq occupation has made matters worse since 9-11.

I think the guy is dead. We haven't had a convincing video of him in a very long time. And it's quite easy to duplicate someone's voice.

Until I see a video of him holding a recent newspaper, he's dead or dying.

Actually, it's impossible to match a voice print. Voice patterns are as unique as fingerprints, if not even more so. I guarantee they've analyzed the voice prints.

Last I heard, though, they had only gotten to the point that it 'may' have been Bin Laden, and that they weren't sure.

After 9/11, AQ was sending out videos by the truckload. We haven't had a video that we can even reasonably confirm is him in the present day in well over a year.

Add in the fact that a bit prior to the invasion of Iraq, he released a tape inciting resistance in the Iraqi people. However, he referred to events that had taken place two years prior as occuring 'last year'.

Osama may be dead, it is surprising to have no word from him lately with all the events that have taken place. He could be cut off from his assistants, gone to ground from the hunt.

Trick: There will be no large uprising of Americans (just the usual looneys), despite the media attempts to sow panic. Out of 25 million Iraqis, there are a few thousand Iraqis and foreigners actually fighting. 99% of Shi'ites oppose Sadr. The Kurds aren't fighting, and few Sunnis are fighting. This desparate phase of violence, from those who don't want freedom for Iraqis, will be beaten down soon. The military has been predicting this phase for 2 months.

The only thing worse than 9-11 would be another 9-11, which has not happened. Exactly what was 9-11 paying us back for?

Our sons and daughters, brothers and cousins, schoolmates and neighbors are fighting for their lives in Iraq, let's concentrate on their victory and safety, not undermine them.

even if we have OBL, I don't know if we would let it out - it may be better that people (not the US public, but other terrorists) don't know we have him. I suspect we don't have him, and that he might be dead. If Bush has him, he'd let the press in on it closer to elections.

Found an interesting article awhile back that you may want to read Satyr. I would be interested in your comments on this:
The Voice of Osama bin Laden.
Osamas voice on tape proves that the leader of al Qaeda is still alive. Or does it?

My thoughts are with the troops and their families. Iraq was not connected to the 9-11 attacks., so why did we really go over there? Wouldn't the highest priority be OBL and Al-Qaeda? Why did we not send the troops that are in Iraq to Afghanistan to find him? The Madrid attacks were a result of the US being in Iraq. Why have we not heard anything from Saddam? Our Interrorgating tactics not working? How many more US Troops must die for this? Why are we not invading other places that are doing the same saddam has done? Are we not going to go to Cuba, Columbia, etc...?

Yes another 9-11 has not happened, but I point you to the Madrid Bombings, YET. We still have not gone after the shutdown of Al-Qaeda. What about the cells in the US? It just seems to me Priorities are not implace. Saddam Hussein and Iraq was not a complete direct threat against the US and over 600 people have lost their lives over it.

Sorry if I come off wrong, but this Iraq "occupation" is really pissing me off, and the major media is not talking about or even questioning these things. Like that is not surprising..

Just one Major Question "Why are we in Iraq?", and do not say to Liberate the Iraqi people.

Nobody in Iraq asked us to come liberate them, no other country asked us to liberate them, no leaders asked us to liberate them, and why wait ten years to do so?

Obviously Saddam not being in power is a good thing, but I believe it could have been handled in a much better way.

It's very possible that he's been captured or killed, IMO. A lack of video does seem to suggest that he may not be alive, doesn't it? Although, I have a tough time believing that a voice print could not be matched, no matter how bad the audio. The equipment they have now days can pull a decent voice print out of even the worst audio.

While Iraq did not have connections with Al-Queada, it did have connections with other terrorists (the guy wrote hundred-thousand dollar checks to families fo suicide bombers, for one). Remember, it's the war on terror, not just AQ and OBL.

Absolutely Satyr....something that some of us here have been saying for quite sometime.

If Bin Laden isn't pulled out of a hiding spot before the November elections, he is dead. I'm 99% sure he's dead right now anyway, but there is the 1% possibility he is being kept under wraps for election boosting purposes.

I am 99% sure he is dead. However, we focus on Osama, and aren't there looney toones equally as dangerous, and powerful with the people, who we (Americans) DON'T focus on?

What reasons would they have for keeping it a secret, if they do indeed know he's dead? They don't want an uprise of his followers? Or maybe they don't want him to be a martyr? Saving the announcement for the election? They need a reason to keep bombing? Or maybe they don't even know he's dead?

I too think OBL is a stiff. Excuse me, "stiff bits".
Here's a little something I found quite some time ago...I would of course link to it, but it's no longer available to my knowledge, so here's the spiel...

Bin Laden dead, says comrade

By Leo Schlink in London
Source: The Sunday Telegraph (Australia)
Mirror Australian Telegraph Publication
September 15, 2002

OSAMA bin Laden's supporters say the al-Qaeda leader is dead.

Shahid Ayan, who was hiding in Afghanistan's Tora Bora mountains with bin Laden during United States air raids in December, said the terrorist chief died 10 months ago. "Yes, Osama bin Laden is dead, but the jihad will continue until Judgment Day," he told United Arab Emirates newspaper Al Bayan.

Shahid said that late on December 10 "the 24th night of Ramadan" there were "some scary explosions" in the area where bin Laden's cave was located.

"The cave was completely erased from the ground and became nothing," he said.

"This was the only cave of the 15 that was destroyed by an enormous 52ft (16m) missile and there is no doubt that bin Laden died."

Shahid said bin Laden had taken refuge in the caves on November 15 with about 320 fighters.

US forces bombarded the area with laser-guided bombs and AGM-142s television-guided missiles with earth-shattering warheads.

Pakistani intelligence sources last placed bin Laden in a 25-vehicle convoy travelling from Jalalabad in Afghanistan to Tora Bora in November.

Bin Laden then appeared on a video released in December, when he appeared ill and had trouble using his left arm prompting speculation he had been wounded in the bombing.

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, the subject of a recent al-Qaeda assassination attempt, was yesterday quoted as saying he believed bin Laden was dead.

"The more we do not hear or him or see any signal of his whereabouts or survival, (the more) we are likely to believe he is not alive," Mr Karzai said.

But US intelligence officers are sceptical of the reports, which were also carried on al-Jazeera television, which bin Laden frequently uses to address his followers.

The station yesterday carried a statement from Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar who pledged Islamic rule would return to Afghanistan.

"America won't enjoy Afghanistan or find comfort in it until it leaves ashamed," he said. "We reassure Muslims everywhere that we are abiding by the pledge and that victory is coming."

As I said, it's old news, but I think there may be something to it. This period was pretty much the 'cutoff point' of when we stopped seeing a weekly "ha ha I'm still alive, you infidels!" videos from OBL. True, many escaped, but I'm not so sure he was one of them. The only video released after this time showed his beard as being blacker than the previously released video. I really don't think this would be happening with the kind of pressure coming down on him. I would sooner believe the same as happened to the infamous Iraqi information minister, who is now proud owner of a ghostly white mop. Other than that, there's been nothing. Of course, I find it highly suspicious that it was described as a '52 foot missle' (who got out the tape measure as it fell?
), but I do find it highly suspicious that this all happened shortly after a minor media flap about "proposed" bunker-busting mini-nukes. Connection? Who knows. I find it highly suspicious, myself.

For several months after this, Dubyah ignored media questions about OBL. Finally one day a reporter asked him, and received a reply. Bush smiled at the reporter and said (and I quote!) "oh yeah...we haven't heard from him in awhile, have we?". He did NOT look concerned as he said this. Again, highly suspicious.

Of course, if OBL were to have been killed, AQ wouldn't want to let knowledge of the event out as it would've been a huge blow to morale. This would be consistent with the "new" yet suspiciously unverifiable OBL audio, as well as the verifiable statements from Al-Zawahiri.

This is all just my views on things, but I think it's worthy of sharing.

If he's dead I think it would be in his followers best interest to keep it a secret. By doing that they frustrate those looking for him, tie up valuable resources and keep his name going.

Don't forget if Osama was found dead or alive it would help GW get relected.

On the other hand faking his own death might be in the best interest of his followers & himself.
