It's like watching Popcorn the past couple of days...

Seems the Afro-Euro faults are trying to compensate, after all the ring of fire moves lately...

Hope that Super Caldera up by Kurl doesn't get to stirred up...

I wonder what's the deal with this as well...it's off the grid but stands out to me...

The 5.6 was right next to what I believe is University building in L'Aquila city itself - just 500 metres

There was picture in the UK Daily Mail of a fireman who collapsed in tears after pulling his dead daughter out of a building. Death toll now around 230.

California west coast is beginning to light up a bit tonight...it's raining all up and down the state here, does rain have any effects on earthquakes?

It is a fact that rain 'greases' the fault lines and makes it much easier for them to move suddenly and unexpectedly. Once they start they just keep moving, so hang on to your hat for the ride all the way down to the bottom as San Andreas gives you the biggest ride of your life!

Seriously however, probably not, as the amount of water is probably insufficient to have any effect, there is however an element of truth in the 'greasing the joints' theory I believe. Water can have an effect on the fluidity of a fault.

The reason we don't have any earthquakes in Ireland is probably because all the fault lines long since moved and the additional rain (230days out of 365 - most of which fell last night I think) just contributes to the phenomenal growth of grass and weeds!!!

On the west coast we don't say "Do you think it will rain today?" but "What time do you think it will rain today?"

Does anyone have information on the new quake in central Italy? It happened about 15 minutes ago. Initial reports at 5.7,
hisz.rsoe.hu... are saying it's a 5.1. Very worrisome.
equake FF add-on still calling it a 5.7

When reading the data posted here, pay close attention to the latitude from the 6.3, all the way up to the 5.3 that just occured there. It seems that there may be a new rupture moving north at a depth of 10 miles, and now, for the 5.3, the depth has been cut in half, to 5 miles, with the rupture still following. Will there be a surface rupture in the near future? Judging by the frequency of these aftershocks, or entirely new quakes, the magnitudes are slowly creeping back up, I don't see this getting any better.

Hmmm.... down to 3 miles, or should I say up? Only 1 day and it's halfed itself again...I think one degree on a map is 62 miles roughly? Maybe we can see where something might happen?
