I saw Groundhog Day in the theaters back in the day and I'm pretty sure I remember that too, It was part of a montage where he was commiting suicide over and over.

Grabbed a screen shot from the Japanese footage to show the bit where it would appear to be clear that its an elephant.

I really like the idea of mokele-mbembe. In the area of the reported sightings, some researchers not too long ago found something around 100,000 gorillas. If I remember right, it was in 2006 or 2007. Makes you wonder what else is hiding out there.

Definitely a legit thread bump, as the blog post was just a couple of days ago. Doesn't seem to debunk the footage, though, just talks about someone looking for it...
