Israel calls Gaza assault 'war to the bitter end'

Israel obliterated symbols of Hamas power on the third day of what the defense minister described Monday as a "war to the bitter end," striking next to the Hamas premier's home, and devastating a security compound and a university building.

The three-day death toll rose to at least 315 by Monday morning, with some 1,400 wounded. The U.N. said at least 51 of the dead were civilians, and medics said eight children under the age of 17 were killed in two separate strikes overnight. Israel launched its campaign, the deadliest against Palestinians in decades, on Saturday in retaliation for rocket fire aimed at civilians in southern Israeli towns.

This is a sad day for the people in the Gaza Strip. Israel needs to learn that they are killing innocent people, people that they have no right to kill. Someone needs to step in and stop this killing spree that is being done by Israel. This has to be stopped NOW and america needs to stop support Israel now.

I really don't know how are university, schools, people's homes, police stations and office buildings symbols of Hamas. Why don't the Israelis come clean and admit that they are embarking on genocide.

I have a question!!! Why don't they run into egypt?...oh wait i forgot only isreal is to be blamed. My bad.
If I fire rockets at you. you strike back. you can read as deep as you want into this but the answer's right there. These rocket attacks serve what end? What other response did hamas think they'd get????

The answer is very simple.

These are Hamas rocket/bomb making/storing locations.

These are locations where rockets are fired from.

These are Hamas command and control centers.

I am glad I was able to answer your questions for you, please feel free to ask any others you may have.

This is not about hamas or rockets or retribution. Its about killing innocents. Israel says it targets only Hamas so we have Hamas 8 years olds?.

It is terrorism, pure and simple. Only, this terrorism is part of a greater plan that as yet we dont know.

I am british and I am embarrased at my countries response to this genocide. One thing for certain, The US/UK goverments knew when it was happening and have probably been involved in the bigger picture master plan.

Our countries realy dont see the damage they are doing to their own standing in the eyes of their own people.

The Egyptians are basically paid by the US to stay out of Isreals conflicts. Egypt recieves "aid" and will continue to receive it as long as they don't act against Isreal. In fact, there is a thread on here discussing how Egyptian border guards were shooting at Palestinians trying to flee into Egypt. Thread itself is not about it, but someone brings it up.

I have been asking the Egypt question in many forums with zero response.

Why are rockets fired into civilain populations not considered genocide?

actual words edited Many on here think Israel is commiting genocide when there is footage of these terrorist hiding in civlian sectors. Hamas is just hoping that there will be collateral damage. So they can scream to the press about the evil Israel. why doesn't someone ask a citizen on the street what they think about rockets being fired next to their apartments? Why are Hamas leaders holding meetings in a mosque? Maybe the citizens should be asking why they voted in Hamas to begin with. Much like Germany's citizens were responsible for Adolf Hitler and turning their heads during a true GENOCIDE!

If Israel wanted to commit genocide they would just carpet bomb the area and get it over with.

Allowing refugees to flee into Egypt doesn't hurt Israel. In fact it would help the situation. Please show me something that states the USA has told Egypt not to allow refugees to enter its borders.

Egypt and Jordan are absolutely against any refugees and it makes you wonder why. Is it because they really don't care about their Arab brothers? Is it becasue they know the world will not ask why their borders stay closed but continue to scream about Israel closing their borders for security reasons? Do you think Egypt wants the situation to escalate so they can ride in with Iran and Syria to be the saviors? Do you think that they have a hidden agenda to make sure that nobody evacuates the area to maintain some type of Arab presence in the area?

I can whole heartedly see why Israel closed everything down. But Egypt has me stumped.

First, there is no need for verbal abuse and secondly all of Gaza is civilian hence the term 'refugee camp'. Most of the occupants are waiting for the return to their homes currently squatted on by Israel.

Further still, the Palestinians do not have a standing army, just a popular resistance. The Geneva Conventions and International Laws allow a people to fight for self determination by all means necessary. Also Gaza is the most densely populated place on Earth so everywhere is near civilians.

I think it is in reference to their backing out of the last conflict in Lebanon. They left before the mission was complete. Spineless leaders bowed to the international pressure.

Enough of Genocide nonsense. Let me know when Israel starts building camps and firing up the ovens!

Verbal abuse Come on, but I can see why you may have been offended. You want to know what genocide is, do some research. Specifically Germany 1939-1945.

I guess voting in a militant organization to rule makes the majority of the citizens complicit with the violent actions then. If someone is setting up a rocket launcher outside of my house it won't be there long if I don't want it there.

Israel is not quite as restrained as the USA when it comes to hitting mosques etc. At least they will hit the target no matter where it is at. After destroying security HQ's Hamas has looked to the mosques, etc to hide and meet. That makes them a legitimate target.

Perhaps you should be disgusted with Hamas's month long daily attacks.
Perhaps you should be discussed with Hamas 80+ suicide bombings directly targeting civilians. Perhaps you should be disgusted that people look at the counter attack, yet seem to forget the daily attacks that caused the counter attack to occur.

Did they freely elect the Hamas, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to look at causes, look at them.

If you want to look at solutions, it is so simple.

We start fresh and new: Hamas does not attack, period. Nothing (no just a rocket, no just a mortar, no just a suicide bomber) or they get badly punished
Israel does not attack, period. Nothing (not just getting a terrorist.....) to they get punished badly

This resolves tit for tat and most importantly requires "BOTH" sides to comply without allowing any lean-way for either.

The response from Israel has been very, very, patient and measured.

When Hamas grows up and acts civilized .. when Hamas stops
attacking Israeli civilians day after day with rocket attacks ...
then Isreal will treat them with some respect.

Until then - Hamas made their bed and they can lie in it and starve to death.

Interesting thread but it still doesn't answer why Egypt closes the border and shoots it's Arab brothers instead of lending aid. Daystar made the claim with no proof that the USA pays Egypt to stay out of Israels business but how would aiding refugees interfere with Israel? Why not bring food and water to the border? The recent post about people eating grass makes me wonder why when their neighbor to the south could solve the problem immediately.

That's the first i've heard of that, thank you for the link i will explore it. However, there is no information in the world that can erase the hypocrisy of blaming isreal nowadays. Personally, I think palestine is the very first successful sheeple that the nwo has created........kinda makes sense....will this happen to us one day if we don't wake up. Imagine:
