Well then get ready for a nuclear Iran. If you liked Iran under the Ayatollah's then you'll love Iran with nukes. Forget about Katusha rockets flying from Gaza into Israel, we'll be getting freighters from neutral countries exploding in our port cities.

Don't forget that Israel is considered the "Little Satan", the US is the "Great Satan". Iran has always considered the US as their true enemy but they haven't dared to strike us directly. Once they have nukes, that all changes.

Not sure where you are coming from buddy! You kind of mock my statement that Israel has the largest nuclear arsenal in the region (its a fact and I gave references) while at the same time suggesting I don't believe Iran's mission to convert the planet (I clearly do believe it).

Why?

"Well then get ready for a nuclear Iran."

I am.

Unlike a conventional weapon, a nuke design has to be tested to ensure that it works.

IF Iran were to have developed an indiginous nuclear weapon, of any type, it would still have to test the device by detonating one.

That detonation would be picked up by monitoring stations around the world.

And it would be the last anyone ever heard of Iran.

And Iran knows this to be its fate.

So, unless some one gave Iran a pre-rested and proven nuclear weapon, compatible with a delivery system Iran could employ, don't go fretting about Iran suddenly announcing its membership in the nuclear weapons-holders club.

Sorry for the foul up just posting your comment SuperSpark.

Israel believes their nuclear capability is their safety measure against a hostile Arab World that tried to wipe them out the day they cecame a country, and a couple times subsequently.

Iran's Islamic Revolution's open goal is to transform the region into a fundamentalist Muslim state. First stop elimination of the Jewish state. Then onward to their rivals, mainly, Saudi Arabia and Christendom next.

Put simply, Israel has demonstrably had nuclear potential as a form of final straw protection. No threat to the US or Eurore. Iran has declared it's hostile intent even before reaching full nuclear capapbility.

If you live in America or Europe you haven't been worried about an Israeli nuke. Will you feel equally secure with nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran?

Then what about North Korea?

Monitoring stations detected what appeared to be a small detonation in the range of aprox 0.5 kilotons, generally considered to be too small for a "successful" nuclear device of the type NK is thought to be capable of, given their level of technology.

Nevertheless, the demonstration was enough for the US and other concerned world powers to change their negotiating strategies vis-a-vis North Korea.

If you are asking why NK still exists while Iran would not likely be so lucky; NK is both physically and politically linked to China and South Korea, both major trading partners with the US.

Money talks louder than words.

BINGO!!! North Korea, AKA "Iran's nuke tester"

Hmmn, I wonder how much N.K. soil contamination costs these days?

I'm implying that the big underground 'boom', thought to be that of a nuclear bomb test in North Korea, was exactly that. A nuclear bomb test FOR Iran.

So, in other words, Iran HAS tested their nuclear weapons. They just contracted with another country to perform the test.

Not true.

You have no evidence to substantiate that outlandish claim. None exists - and that is why you did not cite sources.

A couple of points.

First, Soviet nukes have been available on the black market since the collapse of the Soviet Union over a decade ago. Iran shares a border with Russia and could easily have bought a few of these second hand nukes. Then it's a simple matter to reverse engineer them, modify them, enhance them, etc. Very little testing necessary.

Second, we know that Iran has plans for a bomb. Remember that they gave a copy of these plans to the IAEA about 2 years ago? The IAEA said that the plans were viable. So, their nuke would probably work.

Third, there have been several unidentified nuclear detonations over the past couple of decades. I remember one of these off the coast of South Africa. It was thought at the time that it was evidence of a South African nuke, but it turned out that South Africa didn't do it. Most experts believe that it was in fact an early Pakistani nuke test. So, it is possible that one or more of the unidentified detonations could be an Iranian nuke. This could be a little bit of a stretch but hey, so what.

Lastly, it is possible that Iran could test a nuke in a third country that already has them. Like Pakistan, China, North Korea, etc. The host country would be willing to do this if Iran agreed to share the data. The US did something similar with the UK in the 1960's. We tested dozens of nukes at Christmas Island and the UK benefited from our research.

That is a real possibility but if so, the test was a dud. However, if your are perfecting your design, you can learn almost as much from a dud.

Don't rule out China and Pakistan or even Russia, they have all conducted nuke tests with the past decade. Any of them could provide a safe testing ground to an Iranian nuke. They each have their own motives for wanting a nuclear capable Iran.

Actually... You dont have any evidence of the contrary either. Since he makes sense also, we're in a draw here. Both are viable possibilities. I personally believe that to be the case. Other country (either russia with their stagnated full stock from the cold war or NK produces it, tests it for them, and delivers... just like any other hardware. Do you go to the factory to test your new tv or mobile? Of course not... you just have to press the button when it comes home. Same for them

Do a Google search, you will find thousands of references. This is old news and has been widely reported since the early 90's.

"They each have their own motives for wanting a nuclear capable Iran. "

How would the world be worsened by Iran acquiring a Nuclear Deterrent?

How would that affect me, here in Canada?
