That's what I was after. I'm thinking I saw it on TV but it could have been an article I read somewhere. Either way, they had the whole thing turned. It showed the base of the plume further east giving the impression Yellowstone was moving out of the hotspot and it was closer to starting a new super volcano instead of a massive eruption at Yellowstone.

Thanks again.

This topic is worth revisiting again, especially within the next few weeks. Seismic activity ( small sized events) are on the rise. Remember, the earthquake that triggers, or is triggered by and eruption will not necessarily be MASSIVE 8.5+, but a very long 4.3 or something. Very dangerous, and they believe we are over due for a major eruption

As far as I am aware the events that will happen before the eruption would be of massive uplift. That uplift will make yellowstone into a huge mountain. That will take decades even 100s of years so I doubt yellowstone will erupt anytime soon.

Sleepy only 27 quakes last month. - Going to go look through what I can find and see what month or how many months where there have been fewer. IDK when things are so quiet makes me think that something is going to snap.....

Current Volcano Alert Level: NORMAL
Current Aviation Color Code: GREEN

During the month of October 2011, 27 earthquakes were located in the Yellowstone National Park (YNP) region. The largest was a magnitude 1.7 event on October 28 at 5:23 PM MDT, located about 5 miles southeast of Canyon Junction, YNP. No swarms were recorded in October.

Yellowstone earthquake activity continues at relatively low background levels.

Ground Deformation Summary: Slow subsidence of the caldera, which began in early 2010, continues, though the rate of subsidence appears to have diminished somewhat in recent weeks. Current deformation patterns at Yellowstone are well within historical norms.

This afternoon and evening there has been 14 quakes at the park. While this may somewhat normal, I dont understand as to why all of these quakes are centered in Yellowstone Lake. Alot of red squares from USGS. Any seismic activity there raises red flags, but this seems to weird.

The one time I was close to it I didn't go... I would check it with the geologists if I went there again.

Has anybody here ever been to Elephant Rock in Missouri? Its the remains of an Ancient Volcano Eruption. My point is Elephant Rock is located the middle of a tectonic plate just like Yellow Stone!

Speaking on that subject, ive been monitoring this Yellowstone thread since it started, and say she does wake up again this winter, has it been discussed as to why in the wintertime? I have to admit i haven't read every single page in here

Okay, so obviously most of our Yellowstone watchers have not seen this yet. This is kinda a big deal for a caldera. That's a lot of energy!!!!

Yellowstone has been at low levels. But over the last two weeks, there's been widespread activity. Although, very small, it's a change from the pattern since the end of the last big swarm. I'm not concerned, but am very sure there's a mini swarm happening in the western part of the park, or near Hebgen Lake. Today, there's been several tiny quakes. It's been an ever increasing amount. But very slight and only noticed by watching for the last two weeks. The activity is growing. Almost imperceptible, but not quite. I would be even less concerned, but there's been lots of activity in Utah and in Montana.

I think the slow subsidence has slowed. There seems to be a pause. Accounting for lots of water in the system.
